Summary
Lando Norris has learned that people leave.
Sometimes they leave quietly, with a carefully worded statement and a smile for the cameras. Sometimes they leave him wondering what he did wrong. And sometimes, if he is clever enough, he can make them leave before they ever have the chance to matter.
Oscar Piastri is supposed to be just another teammate. Another rookie. Another person Lando has no intention of getting attached to.
It should be easy to hate him.
It would be easier if Oscar weren't so infuriatingly kind. If he didn't laugh at Lando's jokes, challenge his worst moods, or look at him like there's something worth knowing beneath all the sharp edges.
It would be easier if Lando didn't keep finding reasons to stay.
