Voyageur's Shane Hollander Benched Indefinitely Following Video Leak

Montreal Voyageurs GM Gerard St. Pierre-Arnault and Head Coach Patrick Theriault have confirmed through the organization's representatives that Captain and All-Star Center Shane Hollander has been benched following a widely circulated video showing him and Centaurs Captain and All-Star Center Ilya Rozanov engaged in an intimate embrace. The video was shared in a viral social media post after a FanMail video sent by Montreal Voyageurs Alternate Captain and Right Winger Hayden Pike was seemingly mistakenly sent to a fan identified by his social media handle @im_a_bradbrad_man on Twitter.
Hollander and Rozanov have spent the vast majority of their professional careers painted as bitter rivals after being drafted in 2008 in the first round. Rozanov was selected by the Bears first overall with Hollander following as the second pick for the Voyageurs. Starting their careers in the '10-'11 MLH season, they have dueled in most top metrics of the league. Notably, the two finished with a near tie for the 2015 Hart Award with Rozanov edging out Hollander by a mere two votes.
Always neck and neck, the pair have long been contrasted. Hollander is commonly referred to as the "Golden Boy of Canada" with Rozanov's nicknames veering into lewd territory. As for play style, Hollander is widely regarded as the best two way Center in the MLH due to his impressive ice vision, speed, and edge work. Rozanov on the other hand is viewed as an almost stereotypically perfect physical power player, known both for his aggressive play off puck as well as his signature shot "The Rozanov", a move so far only able to be executed by himself and, as of this season, Shane Hollander.
Until 2018 it was assumed that the two had little if any contact outside of games. The announcement of their joint charity venture, The Irina Foundation, shocked the hockey world. Named for Rozanov's deceased mother, both stated the mental health focused charity was a deeply personal endeavor. Several other MLH stars have participated as coaches for their summer hockey camps. So far, none have made statements on if they intend to return following this scandal. Each declined to comment on this article.
It is unclear at this time what the nature of the relationship between the two players is. Rozanov, a citizen of the Russian Federation, also has little clarity about his immigration status or continued employment by the Ottawa Centaurs. Russia has widely criminalized open expression of LGBT+ identities. Unlike the Voyageurs, the Centaurs have posted a statement in support of their Captain found on their Twitter account.
No comments have been made by the MLH at this time.
Representatives for Shane Hollander, Ilya Rozanov, and Hayden Pike were reached for comment and no responses were made at the time of publishing.

NGUYEN: Daniella Nguyen reporting live from Centre Bell where protestors are gathered following the benching of Captain Shane Hollander following the wide circulation of a video including himself and Ottawa Centaurs Captain Ilya Rozanov in an intimate embrace. It's a modest crowd so far of around one hundred people but we are almost a hour away from when online protest organizers have stated they intend to hold rallies in support of the embattled Captain. Hollander has yet to make any statements regarding the benching or video.

NGUYEN: Hollander's currently leading 127 points on the season are on pace for another potentially award winning season. The Montreal Voyageurs lead the division for the fourth consecutive season. Under Hollander's captaincy, the Voyageurs have made the playoffs consistently and are on track to return at the end of this regular season.
Hollander has kept a relatively clean public persona, famously having been banned from mic'ed up games due to excessive profanity. This is his first scandal since being drafted by the Voyageurs and only non-medical suspension. It is unclear what if any timeline there is for his return.
Sources from inside the Voyageurs organization state that an internal investigation into competitive integrity is underway. Hollander has been dismissed from team activities.

Even the team visit wasn't helping but then Hollander—I'm sorry, I know I'm being emotional but—Hollander sat there reading the same storybook to her over and over because she asked to. Little Shelly crawled in his lap and fell asleep but he kept going until he finished the book and read it one more time to be safe. He stayed two and half extra hours so she could get some sleep. No one asked him to stay. You don't do things like that if you don't love this city and everyone here.
NGUYEN: I'm so sorry to hear about your granddaughter however the current scene here is likely to come with quite a hefty bill to the city. Do you think that the response it out sized considering the subject?
