Chapter Text
”I won’t ask why you decided to erase everyone’s memory— I know the schemes and machinations of nefarious villains are beyond my comprehension— but I can’t help but as to be curious as to why I remember?”
Why indeed? They were the least intelligent member of their family— they were all brawn, very little brain. Morgan was the brains.
Alex had returned to a more relaxed demeanor. ”You remember cause I didn’t want you to forget why I tore off both your arms.”
Chad felt the world stop, felt a sudden pinching feeling where his prosthetics met skin, became acutely aware of the heaviness of the metal arms he had. Yes. He remembered.
”Ah. I see.”
”Speaking of your arms,” Alex said, getting more and more dangerous, ”I can’t help but notice that you found them. Which means you broke into my base, AND you stole from me.”
No fear. No fear, Chad.
”It’s not stealing if it’s reclaiming something that was stolen from you!” Chad said, putting on his best hero voice.
Alex was unamused. ”I strongly disagree. But you got them back, so I’ll let you keep them. However—” and wasn’t there always a catch, with villains?— ”the second you open that stasis container?”
Alex snapped.
Chad cringed, waiting for the hurt, the pain, the world to end—
”—they’ll rot away to nothing.”
Chad stood there, surprised to even still be alive, and let out a breath.
He wasn’t dead. Alex hadn’t killed him.
”Now if you could be so kind as to give me Morgan’s phone?”
Chad wanted to say no. He so desperately wanted to say no.
Chad handed over the phone.
”Yes. Of course.”
”Thank you,” Alex said, pocketing the phone with ease. ”Now I’m not gonna kill you Chad, but I’m also not gonna let you have your little redemption arc. So this is where we part ways. Goodbye.”
With that, Alex snapped their fingers and left Chad’s base.
Chad collapsed back against the wall, no longer able to support his own body weight.
It was done. Morgan was safe now.
