Chapter Text
eddie had been walking around for about ten minutes before he found a somewhat nice park. he couldn't see any kids on the small playset or walking around in the grass. on his walk over there he didn't see anything interesting, so he just decided to sit on one of the benches.
the small section of the town he saw seemed quite boring. there were plenty of houses and a couple convivence stores. he hadn't explored a whole lot of the town but he would do that another day when he had more time.
the longer he sat there the more bored he got. he stood up to start heading back home when he saw a group of kids he assumed were around his age. they seemed to be joking with each other as they walked around the park area. eddie sighed, hoping he would be able to make some friends once school starts up.
before he could turn around to walk away, one of the kids, he had very curly hair and the ugliest hawaiian button up he had ever seen, waved at him. he stopped and stared at him, unsure if he was actually waving at him or someone else. the group of kids walked closer to him as he stood there awkwardly.
"hi! you must be the new kid in town, right?" that kid that waved at him asked.
"um, yes that's me," eddie said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"that's so cool! where are you from? what's you name? what grade are you going to be in this year? i hope our year, that would be super cool. that would mean we might get the same classes. you can be a[art of our friend group if you want-" the kid ranted obnoxiously, getting stopped by a girl with red hair.
"richie, stop talking, you're going to scare him away," she hit richie on the arm then turned to eddie. "i'm sorry about him. my name is beverly marsh, what's you name?"
"eddie kaspbrak," he said quietly.
"well eds, nice to meet you! i'm richie tozier, i'm surprised your mom didn't tell you about me," he laughed at his own joke.
"don't call me eds and don't talk about my mom," eddie looked at him weirdly.
"ignore him please. we've tried to get rid of him but he's like a parasite. anyways, my name is stanley uris, but just call me stan," he spoke in a way that almost seemed professional. eddie nodded his head and waited for someone else to speak or introduce themselves.
"i'm bill denbrough," a taller kid said, smiling gently towards eddie. he smiled back, he seemed cool.
"i'm mike hanlon," the kid on bills right said, brightly smiling towards him.
"i'm ben hanscom! hey, i was the new kid a couple years ago, i joined and i haven't regretted it. we're pretty cool, plus you wouldn't have to deal with bowers," ben said.
"who's bowers?" eddie asked.
"we'll get to that some other time," beverly waved him off. "so, what grade are you going to be in?"
"oh, i'm going to be a senior. um, what about you guys?" eddie looked around. he could see richie basically jumping up and down, smiling excitedly.
"shut up, no way! we're all going to be seniors, hopefully we get some classes or lunch together," richie bounced over to eddie, slinging an arm around his shoulders. "you know eds, you really would be a good addition to the losers club. will you have us, eds?"
"do not ask him that as if you're proposing, good lord. again, please ignore him," stan rolled his eyes, dragging richie away.
"rich is right, you seem nice enough. maybe in the next couple days we can all hang out? i assume you're needing to unpack and i know that can take a while, so no rush of course. we have a group chat, do you think we could add you?" bill smiled kindly at eddie.
eddie felt his cheeks heat up slightly, "yeah sure, that seems nice."
"score!" richie fish bumped the air, causing stan to roll his eyes.
"cool! i can add you, here type your number," mike handed eddie his phone. he typed his number in and handed mike his phone back. he felt his phone vibrate, indicating he was added.
"i should probably get going, i can only stay out for an hour. it was really nice meeting you all, thank you for... everything i suppose," he smiled sweetly before turning around and walking away.
the group stayed silent until eddie was out of sight. richie turned around to stare at them all, a bright smile on his face.
"he is so fucking cute, oh my god. i feel as though i might faint," richie put a hand to his heart, sighing dramatically.
“hopefully he’ll actually be our friend, you’re pretty scary rich,” beverly laughed.
"he seemed really nice," ben commented.
"does anyone want to stay the night? my parents are out of town again," bill asked.
"oh bill, what a naughty question," richie smirked. "i would love to stay the night."
they all agreed to staying over at bills house and started walking towards his house. they chatted and laughed the whole time. richie and beverly raced towards it once they got to his street. bill pulled out hi phone, opening the group chat,
