Chapter Text
“What the fuck is his problem? He’s been ignoring me all day, Heeseung.”
Sunghoon stood next to Heeseung’s desk, taking a look over at Jake. The latter was hiding his face into his arms on his desk, not even looking up at the slightest noise or touch. Sunghoon should know, he spent the last twenty minutes trying to get his attention before going over to Heeseung's desk. If anything, Sunghoon was more worried than mad, telling by the color of his neck, he could tell Jake was pale, meaning he could be sick. He can’t get sick, so he bought them movie tickets to go see ‘Despicable Me 2’ at the movies.
Who the fuck would come with him to see ‘Dispecable Me 2’ last minute? Maybe Jay, but he wanted to go with Jake, he can mimic the minion noises while Jay can’t.
“I don’t fucking know.”
Heeseung let out a shrug. The sigh he let out showed the very least interest in the subject. It was not on his agenda to have any connection to loverboys one and two. In fact, He’d much very much prefer to stay away from Jake as far as possible, a boy like him can ruin his future. And his present, his dad would soon find out the rapid rumors spreading around the school and into the community of rich fucks Heeseung didn’t give a single fuck about.
His dad will find out. Hell, he’d probably break connections with Jake’s family. He’ll probably make Heeseung transfer again if he were to ever find out that He and Heeseung were ever friends, or even just go to the same school.
“Okay then… what the fuck is your problem?” Sunghoon raised a brow, scoffing a bit at the sudden asshole Heeseung seemed to be. His face said it all, the annoyed look he wore was like bling on a Gucci bag.
Like if a sigh were to ever be an asshole move. It was to Sunghoon. It showed the person in front of him didn’t give a fuck. Now, he doesn’t want to fight Heeseung or whatever- but he could fight him. A scoff and a sigh, it’s a stirring pot waiting for disaster. Sunghoon, being a young sunghoon, was about to make things worse for no reason.
“Why don’t you shut the fuck up.” Heeseung stood up abruptly from his chair, meeting Sunghoon in the eye. Not like they were almost meeting at the eye, Heeseung was the tallest boy of the grade.
Puberty.
What some may think is the journey of a kid becoming a man, is actually just a bundle of spilling emotions that are waiting to burst at any second. It’s never a good idea to put a bunch of hormonal pre-teens together in a room because that’s basically placing a tornado with a tsunami. A natural disaster. Welcome to the horror shit house, Middle School.
The worst stage in life.
“What did you say to me-“
“Shut the fuck up, You snotty rich bitch.” Heeseung snarled and rapidly stood from his chair, the sudden noise of his chair hitting the floor was loud, making the boys in the room turn to the two friends.
“Yo, what’s going on here? Let’s not do this.” Jay was just in time to enter the room, with the most awkward laugh anyone had ever heard, immediately pushing Heeseung back down on his seat “You guys look so scary- What, well that was violating the school rules, may I repeat: not to stand up so suddenly to intimidate a classmate?”
“Whatever.” Classic boy hormones. Heeseung rolled his eyes, going back to making a die out of his perfectly good eraser. He’s going to get an earful if the janitor sees him do this, but does he give a fuck? No, not one. How many fucks does he give? Zero.
“Oh fuck off, why are you acting like an ass.” Sunghoon started, completely ditching Jay’s hand who tried to cover his mouth before any words came out. It’d be an understatement to say that Sunghoon was less, too little afraid of Heeseung. He wasn’t, at all.
Heeseung felt his Jaw click, his hand suddenly gripping at the pencil he had. His grip was so tight you could see his knuckles turn a snowy white.
“Ayo, what’s up with you two.” Jay let out a nervous laugh, holding Sunghoon’s shoulder, secretly to hold him back if he ever needed to do, secretly well.
The tension here was thick, way too thick. Thicker than his grandmother’s oatmeal, and that oatmeal is thick, let him tell you. It feels like a slug is going down your throat in a very slow manner. But that doesn’t really matter in the moment because-
“If you wanna know so badly,” Heeseung made eye contact with Sunghoon, the corner of his mouth tilting a bit into a smirk at his friend “Why don’t you ask that gay-ass boyfriend of yours.”
Oh, what a lame-ass comeback.
“My what?” Sunghoon took a step forward, only to get stopped by Jay’s arm hitting his chest “Who the fuck do you think you’re talking to?”
The smirk on Heeseung’s face was annoying him. This fucker took pride in saying such a thing. He knows they’ve known each other for a while, but Sunghoon doesn’t think he’s joking this time.
“You heard me, what are you deaf, Sunghoon? I told you to go ask your boyfriend, you seem to like spending time with him all the time.” Heeseung said, leaning back against his chair to see Sunghoon’s expression change drastically, from cool to fucking annoyed “What? Did you guys break up? Is that why you’re here? Is that why he’s crying at his table like a little bitch?”
“Shut the fuck up, dumbass,” Jay whispered loudly from behind Sunghoon, still having no idea about the situation he was in. He was just trying to be a good friend, not taking sides seemed to be a good student hall monitor. Fuck that hall monitor job, who would want to be put in this damn position.
“Take it back.”
“Or what? Your dad’s going to fire my aunt? Oh, I’m so sorry, I meant was he going to fuck her and leave her to survive by herself with another child? Is he going to get another trophy in his trophy case?”
“Dude, you’re getting way out of pocket, stop.” Jay laughed nervously again, it was starting to get harder to control Sunghoon’s sudden jolts to run at the older boy. It was like trying to control a big hyper dog, except Sunghoon is way stronger than a dog, and a dog will stop fighting if you ask it to.
“Take it back, I’m not going to say it again.” Sunghoon’s voice cracked a bit.
“Maybe he should, so he can give you another step-brother. You’re lonely in that fucking house, aren’t you? You could finally get some company in that prison of yours. Such a big house yet you always complain about having a roof over your head.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
“Oh, I’m so scared. You must have so much built-up rage to not just come at me now.” Heeseung had a mocking tone, his eyes now glaring at the boy, they were ticking, waiting for the boy in front of him to come towards him “Come at me, bitch.”
“You out of many people should know I don’t like fuckers like you.”
“I know. So hit me. You don’t like me now, do you? So hit me.” Heeseung didn’t know where he was going with this, his conscience making most of the words coming out of his mouth.
“Okaaaaay, let’s not do this, Sunghoon let’s go get breakfast!” Jay pulled Sunghoon with all his might towards the door and into the hallway. Holy fuck was the latter hard to move, he was almost like a rock. He was like the guy who was able to pull the sword from the rock. He was so strong- well kind of.
Sunghoon was still found a bit dumbfounded.
Why was he being such a bitch? No, why was he even mad in the first place? Sunghoon did nothing wrong, He was sure Jake didn’t either. Jake is nice, he would never provoke Heeseung in the wrong way. Would he? No, Jake never even gets mad at anything.
“Ah, He just had to be in a bitchy mood on Ice cream day, Now who’s gonna pay for me? '' Jay whined, his arm around Sunghoon’s shoulder as they walked down the hall “They even have pistachios today, I was looking forward to it.”
Sunghoon stayed quiet. Why did he say that about Sunghoon and Jake being boyfriends? No, come to think about it, why would it ever cross his ugly mind? Jake is his friend. His friend who he met at the beginning of the school year.
“I guess another rich person, like yourself, should buy me an ice cream for saving their ass from Heeseung.” Jay hinted at it obviously, his shoulders doing a little dance.
“Buy your own ice cream,” Sunghoon mumbled at the American boy, picking up his pace so he could leave Jay behind. He ran that last bit in the hallway, disappearing by taking a turn up the stairs.
The poor boy stood in the middle of the hallway. His mouth gaped open. Not even a single thanks, one thanks and he would be fine. Rich people man, they’re all assholes. Including himself. He’s really humbled himself with that one.
“Wow, Jay, You don’t even get a thanks.” Jay shook his head, his hands on his hips as he began to walk away from his classroom, He was starting to regret talking back to his dad, he would have still had his card and he could've bought a whole pint of that pistachio ice cream “Maybe I should ask Yeonjun Hyung, If I beg enough, maybe.”
»»———— ✼ ————««
“Thank You, Jay.”
Jay gave the girl a smile as he put the muffin package down in front of her. You know, it still did not matter that she called him ‘Ray’ a few seconds earlier, or called him ‘Taylor’ when she saw him walk in. How the fuck do you get ‘Taylor’ from Jay. Maybe she was saying that he looked like Taylor Lautner.
“You are welcome, the lady with the pretty teeth.” Jay almost sang as he pulled the chair, turning it over so he could sit down. It didn’t matter that he ditched class to be the first one in line for the vendors who sell breakfast in the mornings. No, it didn't matter that he almost froze his ass off.
“Pretty… teeth?” Jungwon raised an eyebrow, looking up from the notebook she was writing on, her hand still holding the pen. Jungwon doesn’t see herself as a complimentable person, that’s for sure, but complimenting her teeth was a new kind of compliment she’s gotten. And she’s been complimented on the way she washes forks. That’s like saying she had nice ear canals. Or how she has a nice color on her inner kneecap.
Maybe Sunoo was right, he is kind of a weird guy.
“Oh, I meant your smile.” Jay let out an awkward laugh, his hand holding his chin as he leaned on the table, secretly kicking his feet under the table like a schoolgirl “I was hoping you’d laugh at that.”
“Oh, sorry.” Jungwon still stayed quiet. She’s never felt so awkward since her middle school play about condoms and now she’s here, waiting for her friend so this guy would leave her alone.
“Hah, Uhm, it’s from Shrek The Musical- we should watch it sometime.”
“Yeah, okay.”
She won’t lie, she did find him kind of cute on Monday, but for the past two days since she’s known him, let’s just say her picture of him now has become a bit weirder. And by the last two days, she means the last 10 minutes finally made her realize.
And to think, she was on a discord call with Sunoo, talking about how she found Jay kinda cute. Even more than Chungha. Chungha, yeah the singer who sings, the hot idol Jungwon has been following since i.o.i. That should be considered a compliment. But now, Jungwon considers herself, blind.
She should get her eyes checked. And maybe her teeth too.
“Yeah.” Jay let the silence eat him alive. He can’t leave now, she’s going to believe that he hates her. Teenage logic, what can you do? He’s experienced this many times. If he opens his phone now, she’s probably going to get up and leave the room. Or maybe that was just his ex- still, you never know how the person you’re trying to get with acts.
The silence though. Oh, the silence afterward was horrifying. It was a part of Jay staying quiet on his seat and a part of Jungwon going back to fill the forms on the long meeting table of the meeting room. The sound of the pen tapping against the wood was way too intimidating for Jay, he felt like he was going to die.
Curse him and his flirting techniques. He only needs an angel to come in and save him.
“We should invest money into making a girl’s bathroom, having to run across the street on a full bladder is something I never want to experience ever again, Wonie.” Sunoo walked in, fanning herself with her hand as she panted, close to getting out of breath. Her hair was a bit messed up, probably from all the running she said she was doing.
There she was in all her glory. Thank fucking god- no thank Sunoo!
“Oh, you’re back!” Jungwon’s face gleamed when the girl walked in, taking her attention off of the paper below her. She was like a bright light walked in and everybody started because it was the brightest thing in the room. Like the elephant in the room, but this time the elephant is positive. Not like that one time when Jay’s head was shaved and he was eating a PB&J, crying, on the table without saying a word, back in elementary school.
“Sunoo! You’re shining today!” Jay exclaimed, finally breaking the silence he’s been holding in for the longest while. Or until he made things awkward. Yup, no he made things very awkward but his savior Sunoo saved him from eating out his own ass.
“That’s just sweat.” Sunoo fanned herself as she sat down on the chair next to Jungwon, taking out her laptop from her backpack and placing it on the table with the softest slam you’d ever hear “I ran like I’ve never run before.”
“Yeah, because You’ve never ran before- ah!” Jungwon held the back of her head, rubbing the spot Sunoo just smacked her in. She made a small noise of pain, obviously not faking it because, even though the girl complains about boxes, Sunoo does have some strength to her. Wait, some are the minimum, the girl hits fucking hard.
“I’ll have you know I ran for my class in like the fourth grade.” Sunoo lets out a snort, glaring at her friend, scooting herself closer to the table.
“That’s like six years ago?” Jay retorted, looking at the girls across the table, making the math in his head. Simple math, Jay doesn’t like math, subtraction and addition should be the only math there is.
“Nobody was asking you, Jay!” Sunoo let out a loud laugh, making Jungwon laugh along with her.
Oh, Jungwon had such a pretty laugh. She covered her mouth and started to giggle to herself to not be too loud. The corners of her eyes crinkled just a little bit. Watching her made him laugh as well, letting out a chuckle along with her.
Wait- oh no. She was that kind of girl. She doesn’t laugh unless her best friend laughs with her- oh this is not going well for Jay. Oh no, this is bigger than Jay himself. You see it’s one thing to make your crush laugh, it’s another to make your crush’s best friend laugh. Sure, it’s usually easier but it’s not as easy when the best friend falls in love with you.
It’s happened to him before, yes. They ended up dating each other, and it was all thanks to him. In the most saddest but encouraging way, the best friend decided that she actually wasn’t into guys, and dated the girl Jay was in love with. Yeah Jay was sad! But he’s not homophobic so yeah he rooted for them afterwards. Now, they’re some of his closest friends that go to another school- and… he went off track, get back to the story.
It’s fine, Jay will say something funny. Sunoo seems like the kind of girl who laughs at anything. Right? Right?! He just has to slip in and slip out, so Jungwon can see the comedian he is.
You got this Jay Park.
“So, Yesterday-“
“Oh, Is this yours?” Sunoo asked Jungwon, pointing to the raisin bread roll package next to Jungwon’s work.
“Oh, uhm…” Jungwon bit the inside of her cheek, her eyes looking at Jay and immediately back at the bread roll, then looking at Sunoo with a smile “I saved it for you.”
Huh, say what now. What is this? Jay got that for Jungwon. For Jungwon, not for Sunoo. Jay who got it for Jungwon, for Jungwon to give it to Sunoo? He almost died out in the war to get the precious raisin bread roll that gets sold out in seconds every morning.
“For me? Thank you, Wonie~” Sunoo laid her head on her friend’s shoulder before reaching out to grab from the package, immediately ripping it open.
Before Jay could say anything, a single sound out of his mouth was barely said before he was disrupted once more.
“Hey, Did you hear about Beomgyu-Unnie?” Jungwon began to talk again, quite frankly ignoring the presence of Jay altogether.
“Oh! Do you really think she’s pregnant?” Sunoo took a bite out of the bun, covering her mouth so they wouldn’t see her chew as she said “I heard it was fake, Winter probably made it up because Beomgyu left her for college boys.”
“I hope it’s fake. But winter doesn’t have to go that far to go Destructo mode on her.” Jungwon frowned, shivering as she remembered the morning when her Unnie came crying to her. She was such a mess for a girl who doesn’t cry during a breakup. Jungwon was awkward though, just patting her back and inching away because she had calculus homework to get to.
“Destructo?” Jay raised an eyebrow, now suddenly very interested in what the girls had to say. Who knew women have superpowers. They’re so great!
“Destructo? Oh, It’s when a girl ruins the life of another girl, usually really badly.” Jungwon responded, her pen twirling around in her fingers.
“In this case, A girl named Winter not only spread a rumor of Beomgyu, saying she was pregnant, so Beomgyu got kicked out of her church group.” Sunoo explained with another bite, using her fingers to explain who ‘Winter’ and ‘Beomgyu’ were.
“Wow, out of her church group?” Jay exclaimed in a fake, interested tone. Jay changed his mind. Women are scary.
“ Yeah! But she messed with the wrong girl, Beomgyu is known to have secret alliances around campus. ” Jungwon whispered that part, afraid one of her classmates would overhear the very kept secret. Like if there were any girls around, it’s an all-boys school.
“ Yeah- wait you can’t say that here, what if she has a boyfriend that attends here? ” Sunoo whispered back to her, hitting her arm just as hard as before, making the younger yelp in pain.
“Hey, guys.” Heeseung opened the door to the council room, walking in Cooly as he walked over to the meeting table, placing his bag on the table, sitting down.
“Suspect one.” Sunoo pointed at Heeseung and looked over at Jay, both nodding their heads in sync. They were both telepathically agreeing that it could be a possibility.
“What- I bet he doesn’t even know her,” Jungwon said, looking at both of them in disbelief. It made no sense. Why would Beomgyu have a boyfriend here when she already had boyfriends, who were both freshmen in college.
“Bullshit, Beomgyu is a whore.” Sunoo crossed her arms over her chest, looking at Jungwon as a ‘remember that one time’ look. Such a small world, Beomgyu tried going for Sunoo’s older brother.
She should remember that other times Sunoo and Her had to cover for beomgyu when the head lady came to check in on her being ‘sick’. Sick their ass, she jumped out to the nurse's window and went to go meet her boyfriend for as she said ‘twenty minutes. It was two hours! Jungwon had to stay under the covers, imitating a lower voice for two hours while the head lady patted her back and gave her feet a cold shower. Wait, scratch that, a FREEZING, shower.
“I agree, Heeseung is a whore too.” Jay was nodding his head, pointing to his friend who just looked at them in confusion.
“Excuse me?” Heeseung was a bit stunned, raising his eyebrow at Jay. He literally just came in and he’s already being attacked. Not his first rodeo but still.
“You’re right, Heeseung seems like the type to sleep around a lot,” Sunoo said, finally putting her bread down on the package so she wouldn’t get crumbs all over the table. She promises for as long as she stays at this school she will leave all the desks as clean as soap. Soap is pretty clean.
“Wow, Sunoo, you seem like that type too.” Heeseung smiled as he returned the somewhat ‘insult’ back to her. He couldn’t help but laugh at the way she glared at him.
“The only thing Sunoo sleeps on is her bed.” Jungwon let out another pained noise as she felt her head get smacked again, holding her hand over the spot “You’re gonna give me a concussion!”
“I’ll have you both know that my love life has nothing to do with our conversation!” Sunoo grumbled, taking another aggressive bite from her bread.
Heeseung found it cute how annoyed she seemed. It’s funny, she’s cuter when she is annoyed more than when she tries to act cute. Memories from last Monday rushed to his head, chuckling a bit to himself to the god-awful Ddeuno incident. Which he will admit, has played a lot of times in his head ever since. He had to make excuses for his dumbass smile when completing his English homework with Jay, Saying it was something he saw on TV and thought it was funny.
“And I have no idea why I’m included,” Heeseung responded back with a confused face, leaning back on his chair.
“Oh, we think you’re Beomgyu’s boyfriend.”
“Jungwon!”
“Who the fuck is Beomgyu?” Heeseung furrowed his eyebrows, looking over at Jay who just shrugged. Jay didn’t know either, he just liked to gossip. The only reason why he walks through the marketplace is to update his 50-year-old group of friends about the tea that happened during the week, and then he gets a snack, but usually, he only goes there to spill the tea.
“The real question is, are you doing Beomgyu?” Sunoo raised her eyebrow at him, tilting her head slightly.
“I don’t even know who she is- oh.” Heeseung stopped for a moment to think. Were they talking about Choi Beomgyu? As the Choi Beomgyu who broke his heart in the third grade Beomgyu. Nah, can't be her.
“Alright then, just know we won’t tolerate snitches,” Sunoo said smugly, pointing to herself and Jungwon. Poor Jungwon who was still rubbing her head from Sunoo’s plus ultra smack. Wasn’t very plus ultra of her to do.
“Wow, the second day I met you Sunoo, how are you so funny?” The older one joked around with her, reaching into something from his bag.
“I’m funnier in the mornings.”
“Oh like when the soccer ball-“
“Lunchtime is at 12! 12 is in the afternoon!”
“Sure, whatever you say Sunoo~” Heeseung teased her, taking a peach cake roll package out from his bag and sliding it over to her “Here, eat it.”
“Eh? I already have a bread roll.” Sunoo pointed to the other package next to her. Wow, since when did she become the human trash can, a woman eating machine. She won’t lie, she’ll take the bread any day of the week but for right now, she’s deciding on being problematic. Sunoo pushed the bread package towards him, simply rejecting his gift.
“Hey, I stood in line forever to get you that, eat it.” Heeseung clicked his tongue, smiling a bit before pushing it back towards her. Was he lying? No, he wasn’t. To the guy with the red hair who couldn’t make his damn decision over mint chocolate or peppermint chocolate, fuck you. Mint Chocolate is worse though, he’s not going to lie. He believes such a combination should never exist.
“I’m eating one already!”
It goes back.
“I stood in the cold for you.”
It goes forth.
“I didn’t ask you to!”
Back.
“Of course you didn’t, I got it for you.”
Forth.
“But I have one already!”
Back.
“You’re going to make me sad, Sunoo-ah.”
She guesses she could keep it. What’s wrong with having two snacks, eat one now and the other one could be saved for later. What a great strategy. Or she could eat it right now, But she would get judged, since she was insisting on not having it earlier.
“Fine. Only because I might get hungry later.” Sunoo wrinkled her nose, making a ‘tch’ sound before grabbing the package and placing it next to the other one. Right next to her sight just in case a bun snatcher were to come in and snatch her buns.
“Nevermind, I want it back-” Heeseung reached out for the bread in packaging, retreating his hand, fast once he felt a small slap on his beautiful delicate hand.
“Ah, You’re so annoying!” Sunoo smacked his hand away, shooing him away once she heard him laugh, taking the bread and placing it close to her. She made sure to barricade it with her arms.
“Wow, what a tryhard” Jay shook his head as he saw the two fought about the sad-looking piece of bread. He’s never seen his best friend like this, well he has but with Sunoo. Jay knows Heeseung likes people who are relatively tall and have a hip or chic style in clothing. The standards of the Lee Heeseung were extremely high, the last girlfriend he had was tall and mature, with an elegant style. Sunoo seems the opposite of that.
Holy shit, Sunoo awakened something in Heeseung, Jay thinks.
What a great twist? But Isn’t Heeseung dating someone?
Holy shit.
“Let’s share it then, I’ll have this side, look it’s even crumbled a bit, I bet it doesn’t even have a peach filling.” Heeseung pointed at the side that looked so sad, probably got crushed by the weight of the other bread. Or maybe it was Chenle who crushed it out of revenge for beating him in chess yesterday.
“No, You said this is mine, I don’t want to share.” Sunoo pursed her lips and shook her head, taking the bread away from the middle, the spot they both came to an agreement so they could talk about the custody of the poor bread. Poor Peach Bread, it had to see its divorced parents fight like this, getting to see who eats it alive. Well not alive but close enough.
“Don’t they teach you to share in elementary?”
“Hah, Public school is to eat or be eaten, There’s no such thing as sharing.”
“Public school?”
Uh oh, She said it. Fucking shit, How is she going to tell them that she was poor? When Jungwon found out, she bought her literally everything Sunoo laid her eyes on or even came across.
“Uhm, What I mean is-”
“Good Morning!” Jake spoke up as he entered the room, closing the door behind him. He seemed to be in a good mood today, His cheeks literally showing off the squishiness. Not only that, but he seemed like he was shining.
God, Sunoo can’t be in love with him already, can she? Lol, Yeah, She is.
“Oh, Good Morning” Jungwon popped in from behind, her papers still scattered on her hands. Some idiot named Jay opened the window a few seconds ago and now her shit is all over the table. Not like heeseung or Sunoo noticed cause they were too busy fighting over their bread child.
“Hey, I didn’t see you in the morning, where were you?” Heeseung spoke up afterward, his body turning fully to look at the human puppy. He had to squint his eyes from the blindness Jake's teeth were giving away for free.
“Oh- Uhm, I got here late… I had to do something… Uhm, because my dog swallowed a coin…” Jake seemed a bit flustered, and the words in his mouth were a bit too long and spaced out, clearing his throat and holding onto the strap of his backpack, playing with the smallest thread that made itself out.
“Is your dog okay?” Jay asked, worried for poor Layla. Even though the son of a bitch bit his ass the other day because he pretended to throw her squeaky toy when in reality he had it in his hand the whole time. Jay doesn’t forget, one day he will get his revenge.
“What about my dog?” Jake looked back at him cluelessly, finally walking over to the giant table and settling down his stuff, taking his seat next to Heeseung.
“Your dog, you just said she swallowed.” Sunoo tilted her head, furrowing her eyebrows trying to recall something for the boy in front of her.
But Jake sat there in confusion, his eyes almost staring her down for no reason. Sunoo couldn’t help but clear her throat, sitting up on her chair to make the boy look away. Which he did, looking at the other three with a confusing face.
“Did I say something about my dog?” Jake asked all of them, his mind not having a single thought in his pretty brain. If it did have a thought, it would be the word ‘tired’. He felt really tired at the moment. And he had no reason to be as tired as he was. He had a good night’s sleep, he fell asleep at 11 pm, and got up at 7 am. He woke up and had some breakfast and was out by 8 to go to school. Was it the walk here that got him tired?
“Yeah, You said she swallowed a coin?” Heeseung looked a bit worried, placing his hand on the younger’s back. The man looked high as a kite. But his eyes weren’t red, and if he was he would be showing it off to everyone.
“I did?” Jake let out a laugh, looking at them with a dumb look on his face “I don’t remember saying that…”
“Jake, how many fingers am I holding,” Jay looked over Heeseung to show Jake his three fingers he put up. He would put up only one finger, his middle one, as a joke, but right now his friend seemed to be out of his mind.
“Three.”
“Holy fuck, He’s a Genius.”
“Shut the fuck up.” Heeseung laughed, pushing Jay's shoulder, making the other roll away from the impact.
“I… am going to put my head down, it hurts,” Jake announced to the whole room, really it was just four people in there with him. The puppy-like boy set his head down on the table, wrapping his arms over him like a drape or a curtain of sorts. That way the light doesn’t hit him. Sometimes Jake likes to believe he’s a vampire.
He wished he was a vampire. So he could be as sexy as Edward Cullen.
Pretend he never said that.
“Oh, should we let him fall asleep like that…” Jungwon spoke up, her pen poking the knocked-out boy’s elbow very carefully. Like if he were some sea creature washed up on the beach.
“He’ll be fine,” Jay said.
“He doesn’t seem fine…” Sunoo replied, bending her head down a bit to try and see the boy, but the arms around his face seemed to do the job of blocking the sunlight out, damn, even blocking sunoo out of his view.
“Oh, one more thing.” The way Jake sat up so suddenly scared the shit out of sunoo, making her fall back into her chair, holding her hand over her heart.
You should know by now that Sunoo’s heart isn’t that great. One of the many reasons why she can’t have boyfriends is if they’re too good looking she might die from them just touching her hand. That’s not the reason why she’s single, but just pretend that it is.
“Here.” Jake went digging into his bag, pulling out a honey cake bread and placing it in front of Sunoo.
He didn’t give her time to process before going back to his old position, now blocking anything that came his way for not sleeping.
“I already… have one…” Sunoo tried to argue with Jake, but the boy had already started his plans to fall asleep until their third hour starts. Ew, he has physical education in the next hour.
“Dumbass, she already has one.” Heeseung clicked his tongue, basically arguing with a wall since Jake was out of this world already.
Kim Sunoo, Don’t you dare start blushing, Just because he gave you food doesn’t mean he likes you, Sunoo thought to herself. She stopped herself from blushing, but her smile couldn’t get contained, the only thing she could do was bite her lip to prevent it from spreading.
Maybe, it means that he does like her…
No! Get a grip on yourself woman! Kim Sunoo, Doesn’t fall for men at the first sight. She gets to know them and then starts to like them.
But, he’s really sweet, Sunoo took the honey bread and held it in her hands and-
It was warm.
It was warm?
It was warm!
For it to be warm… that means he heated it up. He heated it up, for her. For her? Isn’t this a boyfriend thing? Is it, would it be too obvious to pull out her phone and search it up. If he heated it up, that must mean he obviously cared for her, sunoo loves warm food, and it is cold outside so he was obviously thinking about her.
Don’t get your hopes up! What if they sold it to him like that!
Right, It is a piece of bread, maybe they do heat it up for you when they buy it. It is fall, it’s cold out. Oh my god, Maybe the reason he gave it to her was that it was too hot for him. No- but the bread Jungwon gave her was cold, and so was the one Heeseung gave her.
Debunked, maybe Jungwon and Heeseung went earlier, that’s why it wasn’t as warm as Jake’s. Even more, Debunked, Heeseung said that he waited in line before he came here, that’s why he was a bit late.
Gah! What if he was giving her food poisoning.
What the fuck Sunoo.
Is microwaving a pastry inside a plastic bag illegal, isn’t there some type of science that would leave microwaving food with plastic end up with food poisoning. Was this an American thing, she swears she’s heard of this before. Should she search this up?
“She’s out of her mind, She’s been looking at the bread for a minute now…” Jay, as rest for the other two, was staring intensely at the maniac girl. She looked completely insane, smiling at her bread as if it were the love of her life, and then suddenly frowning as if it were an enemy, and then smiling and giggling as if she fell in love.
“Mhm, then again sunoo loves Honey bread, so maybe that’s it.” Sunoo innocently nods her head, taking a look at her best friend “But then again, it’s not her absolute favorite.”
Sunoo loves sweet things. She’d prefer sweet over anything even. Jungwon knows this, when she ordered a brownie pizza over an actual pizza that one time they had a sleepover. That night Jungwon had a stomach of how much chocolate she ate on that damn pizza, while Sunoo continued to talk about how her week went, completely unfazed by the sugary treat. But honey bread isn’t that sweet, so why would she treat it like-
Oh, was it because Jake gave it to her.
Maybe that was it.
“You look like you’re about to make out with the packing Ddeuno.”
“Eh?” Sunoo finally broke out her daze, looking up from the bright yellow and clear packaging to meet with Heeseung’s eyes. Was she out of it? Oh did she look crazy, what exactly was she doing? Oh, she looked like an idiot didn’t she.
“Oh, You’re out of it already.” Heesueng raised a brow, smiling at the way Sunoo seemed to be so confused, not sure where to look. “You stared at that packaging for minutes.”
“Huh, no I didn’t.” Sunoo was quick to place the bread on her now a small tower of bread. The honey bread was her favorite, but she wouldn’t say that outloud.
“Are you sure, you seemed way into it?”
“I have no idea what you could be talking about.”
The sudden way the door opened made everyone turn to it.
“Oh, My bad, I didn’t notice you guys were in here-”
“Aye, Niki!” Jay hollered from his chair, smiling as he was basically telling the boy to come forward “Come on in, the water is fine!”
“There’s no water here, Hyung.” The tall blonde boy said in his monotone voice, standing awkwardly at the doorway. Maybe it was the way he stood that made him look tall, or maybe it was the way he was tall that made him look awkward.
Niki was originally here to come to get the air pump from the closet. The gym lost theirs apparently two years ago, so he was sent here instead of one of the P.E teachers, insisting that for sure the council room had an air pump.
Now, Niki is a council member. He was forced by his hyungs and even pushed into it by his mom. He was simply a member, he didn’t do much, but as a freshman, it was his duty, aligned with the other new meat kids, to clean after the council.
He stopped after the third day. Those boys could not keep anything clean. Don’t get him wrong, he’s not a tidy person either but he has some decency. But a fact that he knows for sure, is that those fucking closets were filled to the brim. If he went in looking for an air pump in there he’d end up in Narnia, or in France, one of the two would be a possibility.
“It’s a phrase Niki” Heesung laughed at the younger, shaking his head.
“Oh. If you don’t mind, I’m gonna look in the closet.”
“Don’t look too deep, you might find jay in there.”
“Seriously, I’m just breathing.” Jay looked at him with an unamused facial expression.
“Oh, haha…” Niki awkwardly laughed at the joke he didn’t understand and took Heeseung’s advice too seriously, even though Jay is by the table.
The youngest walked over to the closet and opened it. Here it comes, the mess the boys before him have made these past few years and- oh.
“It’s clean?”
“Nice Joke, Niki! See I told you he was funny!” Jay laughed along with Heeseung, hitting the older one on his shoulder. The closet is never clean.
“Oh, Jay hyung, You’re here too.” Niki smiled as he pulled a small stand cut out of Jay, which looked like his middle school graduation picture. He looked way too fancy for a 14 year old, with his bow tie and suit, and his curly hair. Not to mention the bisexual iconic pose, the peace sign.
“Never mind, he’s not funny!”
“What did you say, The closet is clean.” Heeseung tried to calm himself from his laugh, a pouty Jay making it harder to not burst out laughing. The oldest boy got up from his seat to go behind Niki, checking out the closet. To his surprise, everything was neatly placed, and shockingly, organized with neat handwriting. Hell, it was even dusted. If you opened these back then, you’d get a full blow of dust and sneezes ahead of you.
“No fucking way, Who cleaned this shit?” Jay raised a brow as Heeseung continued to open the other doors. All of the cabinets were fully organized, color-coordinated, and labeled. Holy shit. Did someone play a prank on them? Are they on what would you do?
There was a bit of silence while the boy took their time to admire their clean and organized closets. A little too silent.
“ Ahem. ”
“I bet I could fit in this!”
“ Ahem…”
“Then you’d really be closeted.”
“ Ahem!”
“Oh fuck right off, Heeseung.”
“Yah!”
The boys turned their heads to the two girls who had been trying to get their attention. It was only really Sunoo, Jungwon was still trying to speed on her Math assignments, but she was calling the boys over as well to help her best friend out.
“No way, You guys cleaned all of it.” Heeseung smiled a bit, walking back over to his chair and looking at Sunoo. He was more interested in how long it took them. They had so much shit in there it was like a flea market but with only fleas. Oh the freshman year disaster, the boys had to burn their uniforms because of the flea invasion caused by Sunghoon, who opened the door and went inside to try and find a pencil sharpener. Juyeon, a senior at the time, was positive he left it there. A three-hour search led to nothing when Juyeon found it on the counter.
“I guess you can say, We're the best guests ever.” Sunoo flipped her hair dramatically, groaning at the reminder from that morning “Sadly, we're too good.”
It was Jungwon’s idea originally. Mostly because she did not want to smell the nasty ass room again. They both took on the room that morning, even came in at 7 am. Boy did they underestimate the work, and that was before they opened the closet to have everything fall on their shoes.
On the bright side, Sunoo did find a new makeup mirror, and she found a pair of hair clips that look like small candies. She might go as some candy princess for Halloween or some shit.
“Man, why is everything rainbow?”
“Why do you think so?”
“Don’t you dare!” Jay pointed his finger at Sunoo, laughing a bit.
“Who’s gonna stop me!” Sunoo responded, pointing her finger back at the older.
“Also, who doesn’t throw away binders? There were so many in that damn closet!” Jungwon pitched in, taking a second away from her assignment. It was a gross adventure, there was an mc chicken squished in between one with the messiest handwriting. 2018. Jungwon and Sunoo almost threw up after reading the date on one of the papers, the sandwich finally releasing its odor.
“We might need them in the future…” Jay pouts, going back to sit down on his seat.
“Don’t lie, hoarders!” The younger barked back. Yeah, Jung Jungwon had her experience with hoarders. Wonyoung, an old friend of hers, kept the wrappers from tootsie roll pops since she was four. When Jungwon tells you she was utterly shocked to find out the girl didn’t have some type of diabetic symptoms after seeing the jars full of wrappers that took up her closet space.
Jungwon liked to collect rocks, so of course it was a shock to see her friend collect that amount of trash.
‘ It’s for the environment’ her ass.
“Thanks anyway, I haven’t seen it this clean since.” Heeseung took his seat again, rolling the chair up a bit to get closer to the table. The way the older boy ended the sentence made it seem like he was going to keep going, so the rest awaited his response.
“Since?” Sunoo raised her brow, still waiting for the handsome latter to continue.
“What? I have never seen it clean since.”
“I hate you.”
“Ah- don’t be mad.”
“You would say ‘I’ve never seen it clean’, you don’t add the since.” Sunoo looked annoyed, cleaning up the boy’s fucked up sentence. Sunoo can tolerate dumbassery, however, she can’t stand the unnecessary words put into sentences. She could, but not when they’re put in like how Heeseung did. P.S. She has no idea where she was going with this.
“Whatever, It’s in the past… anyways.”
“You have a death wish, don’t you?”
This was weird.
Whatever Heeseung and Sunoo had to themselves, Jungwon thought to herself. She could only see how they seemed to get along, a little too well. Also, Jake besides Heeseung who seems to be drooling on the table. Oh and that blonde boy who seems to be starstruck while staring at sunoo while standing up and- wait who was he.
Jungwon has never seen his face before.
Wait, what if he was a spy- Beomgyu’s spy!
“Oh,” Sunoo blinked mindlessly at the boy next to her, who suddenly seemed to teleport there. He just stood there silently, looking- excuse Jungwon’s language- he seemed a bit constipated by how red his ears were getting. The blonde boy reached into his bag, shuffling between things before taking out a packaged blueberry muffin.
“Here.” It was a quiet sentence. He placed the muffin in front of her, next to her massive stack of pastries, and cleared his throat, playing with his hands.
“Oh, uhm, it’s okay, I have like three-” Sunoo wasn’t even able to finish her sentence before the tallboy dashed off, without even saying a word. Without even introducing himself, she had no idea who he even was.
Well, first he accidentally ran into the wall, said he was fine and then ran out the room like a cheetah.
“Why is he acting strange?” Heeseung’s eyebrows furrowed as he watched the door, looking back at Sunoo.
“Oh my god, That’s the most Niki has socialized with a girl!” Jay let out a happy laugh.
It’s true, last month, The boys invited Niki to a party. Sadly, for the most Anti-social boy, he was stuck in the corner in the room while a bunch of teenagers raged to different types of songs. Not to mention how he freaked out when the girl he was with (courtesy of Heeseung), was drunk and threw up all on him. Jay isn’t even sure they’ll be able to drag Niki to another party.
“Oh, that was Niki, by the way.” Heeseung started “He’s a council member, freshman.”
“Oh, really?” Sunoo nodded her head, gabbing the muffin in a sigh “What am I going to do with so many fucking pastries, I was going to diet today…”
She said that last part very quietly.
“Woah, Kim Sunoo, You curse?” Heeseung made her pause.
“Like you don’t?”
“I’m a child of God. And a council president! I have to set an example and shit.”
“Oh, wow you’re so funny!” Sunoo’s faked expression said it all, making her click her tongue and turn to talk to Jungwon. Shutting out the older boy like if he was a titan on ‘attack on titan’. Even a giant like him couldn’t climb that damn wall.
“Wow, He sure does run fast.” Sunghoon walked in, just as Niki brushed past him, his backpack was lazily over his shoulder, as if he was the protagonist to the world’s worst kind of fanfiction. Do you know how those poorly written characters that are jerks and just typically stereotypical? Yeah, like that. God, It’s honestly so cliche how people still write like that!
Sunoo was always a polite person. And she was (somewhat) a loveable person.
She doesn’t mean to brag, but she got employee of the month from where she works. And yes you can make the argument that she works at her parents’ restaurant but she also gets very good reviews from their customers on yelp. They all claim the sweet girl with the fox eyes is one of the nicest waitresses they’ve ever had.
It’s pretty easy being pleasant. She’s even polite to people who don’t show it back. She greets everyone with a smile and a bright attitude.
But then why now, each time she sees Park Sunghoon, she wants to gag.
“Oh, You’re here?” Sunghoon looked over at the sleeping Jake on one of the chairs, sleeping maybe an understatement, the man was full-on knocked out. He counted one sheep before he blacked out. “Or, maybe you’re not.”
“Ah, He came in acting weird, he probably stayed up last night.” Heeseung turned his head to face Sunghoon, his arm reaching out.
“Good morning, babe.” Sunghoon snickered, clasping Heeseung’s hand and pulling him in for those bro hugs. You know, the universal bro handshake.
“Honey, I made you breakfast~” Heeseung’s tone was mocking, and Sunoo couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the high pitch of it, and did the same to Sunghoon, but she patted his back. What a sight to see. Two friends, hugging and stuff.
“Where,?”
“Up my ass, Dumbass.”
“Wow, what a boyfriend you are.” Sunghoon snarled, laughing a bit before pulling away and hitting Jay on the back of his neck, making the American boy jolt up, startled “Good Morning to you too, cutie.”
“Ow- what the fuck!” Jay yelled, holding the back of his neck, practically feeling the heat and the redness Sunghoon had possibly caused. Jay had only a second to breathe when he turned around, practically getting cuddled attacked by the younger. Sunghoon hugged his neck, smothering his cheek against the others.
“Ah~ Say it back.”
“Fuck off! You’re acting weird!”
“Cutie, Say it back!”
“Good Morning! Now let me go.”
Sunghoon didn’t let go. Sunghoon looked up a bit to see Jungwon across the table writing things down on paper. Now, this is where Heeseung realizes that he isn’t observant because when the fuck did she pull out a textbook and start doing work. She’s either very silent and sneaking, or Heesung is blind and very ignorant to his surroundings.
“Good Morning, Jungwon-ssi, How’s your morning?” Sunghoon started.
“My morning? It’s good, it’s been a bit chaotic.” Jungwon shivers at the memory of the damn closet. She’ll have nightmares for sure.
“Oh really, that sucks.” Sunghoon was finally nice enough to let go of Jay, the older pulled away and held his precious neck.
“Jay’s right, You’re awfully cheerful today, what- you’re happy you missed the morning classes?” Heeseung raised a brow, his eyes following the younger.
“Mhm, great morning, I didn’t have Mr.Oh’s garlic bread breath all over my face.” Sunghoon smiled, a weird act even when he’s faking it, he made his way around the table, taking his not designated seat next to Sunoo “No, but I got some good news this morning, I can’t help but appreciate my friends.”
The fucking audacity.
“Huh, were you with Jake this morning?” Heeseung asked, remembering the thing about Jake’s dog.
“No, he didn’t answer me this morning, I left without him.”
“Then where were you today in class?”
“I skipped that shit.”
“I should’ve known, You’re ignoring having to talk to Mr.Oh about his daughter, huh?”
“He wants to set me up with her, and he won’t believe me that I already have someone for that winter ball shit.”
“Oh, yeah, that.” Heesung nodded his head, clearly remembering that he forgot. Does that make sense? He remembered that he forgot about it like he forgot about that and then forgot about that thing but now he remembers that he forgot that- it makes sense in his head, okay.
“I’m sorry, you’re telling me he’s not a virgin?” Jay was a bit shocked. The man that wears calf socks and matching ties to go with it. If that man had a chance, then Jay definitely does too.
“It surprised me too, his daughter is pretty too, she looks nothing like him.” Sunghoon carried on the conversation.
“30 saying it was counselor Choi.” Heeseung said quickly before Jay could even speak.
“Fuck you I was gonna say that, no- 50 that it was the bird lady who came in with all the birds-“ Jay doesn’t save himself with this one. In fact, Jungwon even looked up from her paper to glare at him- because he was talking about the bird lady who lives on her block, then she’s the nicest lady in the world.
“Hey, he said she was pretty, that means the mom is pretty too.”
“How would we know that, negatives and negatives cancel out and become positive.”
“Holy shit, you actually understand math?”
“Fuck you!”
“Hey you, why is your face puffy?” Sunghoon turned to look at the girl sitting next to him, his hand reaching to touch her cheek.
“Not even a good morning? Is that a way to greet someone?” Sunoo scoffed, slapping Sunghoon’s hand away from her face, “ass.”
“Why? Are you jealous I said it to everyone but you?” Sunghoon raised his eyebrow, the smile on his face made his canine teeth very visible. Not that Sunoo would even notice, because she could only focus wanting to smack his handsome face-
What the Fuck.
SUNOO WHAT WAS THAT?
Bad Sunoo, you don’t say that to yourself in private, what if he could read your damn thoughts. You can’t blame her! He has somewhat of a nice face. She’s not attracted, he’s just handsome, that’s all.
“No, It’s just rude to greet me by saying my face is puffy- which it’s not by the way.” Sunoo tuts, making a small ‘hm!’, throwing her black hair behind her shoulder in a sassy manner.
“It’s not rude, It’s a question.”
“A rude question, Sunghoon, that’s what it is.”
“Sunoo is right, Sunghoon, You can’t just ask a pretty girl why her face is puffy.” Heeseung added to the fire, pointing towards her direction “Especially when it is.”
“Pretty?” Sunghoon made a foochie confused face, looking at Heeseung.
“It is?” Sunoo gasped a bit, taking her heart shaped mirror from her bag and actually checking her face for any sign. She swears her face didn’t look any different, is the new lotion she’s using really not working?
“It isn’t. Your face looks fine.” Junwgon reassured her, but adding a bit to the fire “But, Your cheeks are rounder today-”
“EH?!”
“Hey, here, take this.” Sunghoon reached into his pocket and threw the small strawberry bread package, the special one filled with actual strawberry.
Sunooo can’t believe she'll ever say this but- she feels like she’ll get tired from seeing the same bread, over and over, and over again. She’s sick of it, she doesn’t even like bread that much! Well she does, but whoever is trying to buy her attention with bread- fuck them! Besides, she likes the banana ones better than all- they should have gotten her the banana breads instead.
“No thanks, I have four already.” Sunoo answered, giving the package back. But Sunghoon quickly pushed it back, making it stay with her.
“Who gave you one?” Sunghoon questioned.
“Well, The kid who ran out, Jungwon, Jake, and Heeseung-”
“Heeseung?”
The sound of the bell rang throughout the building.
“Would you look at the time? It's time to go to the third.” Heesung stood up from his chair as soon as the bell rang, throwing his backpack over his shoulder. The older patted Jake’s back to try and wake him up so the idiot wouldn’t miss another class.
“Take it.” Sunghoon said, a bit shocked by what Sunoo said, but he got up anyway, grabbing a raisin bread and turning to Jungwon “Hey, I got you one too.”
“Oh, I-” Jungwon smiled awkwardly, looking at Sunoo for help.
“Jungwon-ie hates raisins.”
THAT’S WHY SHE DIDN’T WANT IT, Jay thought to himself, Maybe he did have a chance. Or maybe he lost it after giving her the raisin bread. Holy shit, did he lose his only chance.
Like he had one in the first place.
“Junwgon, I hate raisins too.” Jake rose from his chair at high speed, scaring the shit out of Heeseung “They’re so nasty!”
“Holy shit, What the fuck man!” Heesung held his hand over his chest, panting from the giant scare the Australian boy gave him.
“Oh, that’s cool.” Jungwon responded, her lips pressed together in an awkward manner.
“Hey, Where'er you this morning?” Sunghoon asked, completely confused. Sunghoon spent like an hour in front of Jake’s house this morning, waiting for him even when he wasn;t picking up his phone. Why didn he just know” You may ask, well, Sunghoon had an awkward accident with Jake’s mom, so he’s been avoiding his house for the past week.
“Me? Oh I just got ran over by a car this morning-”
“WAIT WHAT?”
“Why is everyone so shocked?”
»»———— ✼ ————««
“Well, there’s a good and there’s a bad, but the good weighs out the bad.”
“Am I dying!” Jake dramatically shot up from lying down on the medical bed, wincing when the pain in his left arm ran throughout. A beige warp was wrapped around his sprained wrist. Who knew getting hit by a car can make you suffer such consequences.
At the moment of the hit, he honestly thought he was going to die. He really thought about dying today to get out of his math quiz today, but it’s the third period and it seems like he won’t be able to get out of it.
“I don’t think you can die by breaking your wrist,” Sunoo responded, continuing to cover his hidden bruises with a cream the doctor gave her. She doesn’t even know how they looked past the torn on Jake’s uniform. They were everywhere! Especially the embarrassing one on the back. Right between his crack. Poor guy walked around like that.
“Well, only if you got hit by a car, wrist situations could be fatal.” The doctor replied, pushing up her glasses as she gave both teens a serious look.
“What!” Both looked at her in shock. And for a second, Dr.Kang actually had a pretty decent poker face, until she started to burst out laughing.
Both looked utterly shocked at the laughing woman, looking at her in disbelief as she slapped her knee and started to wipe tears off her eyes.
“I’m kidding, love! A wrist can’t be that serious unless it’s that one thing, but you should be fine.” She smiled at them, calming herself down from laughing as she wrote something down “You should be able to go to your next class, You took pills and your girlfriend is putting the treatment on you. You should be all set, Mr.Sim, just keep that wrist bandage for two weeks, do the wrist exercises I showed you and that should be it.”
Girlfriend.
Girlfriend?
GIRLFRIEND!
What kind of good bullshit was this woman trying to pull.
Sunoo couldn’t help her heart, the way it burst into Joy- holy shit. She has goosebumps. And not like that goddamn series of books- no, like she can see bumps on her skin.
Oh my god did she really look like the type to be a girlfriend? Has she been doubting herself all along? Maybe not or maybe so. Honestly, who knows.
She feels like those characters in those manhwas. The really pretty ones, you the main character or whatever, having those gushy moments. The type of thing that makes you want to scream into your pillow while kicking your legs in the air because of how excited you were.
Whatever you do, Sunoo, don’t look at his face.
Maybe just a peek.
“So I won’t die, right” Jake tried to reassure himself, peeking at the lady in front of him.
Yes, Sunoo was an idiot.
“Of course not, you’re fine honey!” Dr.Kang wrote down some stuff on her clipboard, looking up to look at Jake “but for your medical report, can you tell me what happened?”
“What happened?”
“Yeah, You need to tell me what happened.”
“But I did-“
“Your dog could have not broken your wrist even if she ran into you so hard you fell on your butt.”
“It’s because you see…”
Sunoo caught the small glimpse Jake gave her, watching as he quickly looked away and scratched behind his ear. He was hiding something. Sunoo couldn’t have been anything but curious as to why. Maybe he went to go get her something and he got run over or something. Or maybe he fell down a tree to save a cat because that’s just how nice of a person she was. Sunoo had a very wild imagination, everyone knows this by now.
“Fine… My grandma kind of uhm- ran me over this morning…”
“Your grandmother.”
“Yes.”
The woman was too stunned to speak.
“I’m sorry, your grandmother ran you over with her car?” Dr.Kang raised her eyebrow, a little bit shocked to even comprehend because what kind of old woman gets away with that.
“It’s not hard to believe, she may look old but the woman still has a kick to her body!” Jake sighed, rubbing the back of his neck where he still felt a tiny bit of pain.
“You don’t want to sue-“
“Do you know who my grandmother is? It’s like suing the entire world! My family would be out of money if I were to do that” He sighs “Besides, it wasn’t her fault anyways…”
“It wasn’t her fault, that she hit you with her own car?”
“Well, when you put it like that…”
“When you put it like that?”
“It’s because you see, I was the one who ran up the driveway.” Jake seemed a bit embarrassed saying that part, rubbing the back of his head while looking away “I was coming back from an errand- but you know I was running and she didn’t expect me to come out of nowhere! Of course, she would hit me on accident, you don’t have to file charges or anything. Doing that means I won’t get any paychecks for Christmas anymore.”
“Yeah, I bet the paychecks she gives you is more than a settlement fee for hitting you with her car, huh?”
Ah, Rich People jokes. Oh, how Sunoo wishes to live such a life. Her parents gave her an apron last Christmas, a supposed better version of the last one she had. But she loves her parents so it was okay. It was a pretty good apron too, A upgrade from the one she grew out of in the eighth grade. She was in need of a new one anyway.
“Dr.Kang, they need you in BioMed! Teacher Bae said that you were covering the Cardiac Topic.” A younger woman came running in with a classic apprentice look, the ponytail and the glasses and everything.
“Thank you, Yeri.” Dr.Kang nodded, making the younger run away and probably, back to the classroom from where she came from “Ah, Teacher Bae is such a pain.”
“Yeah, she’s a piece of work.” Jake laughed awkwardly, remembering the awkward encounter he had last year in her anatomy class. Whatever that thing was, it did not look like a penis. What if he did call it a burned peanut, so what! It’s not like the model would find it offensive since he didn’t hear him say it to his face.
“Watch it, She’s my wife.” Dr.Kang pretended to have a stern look on her face, but failed and ended up smiling, laughing a little. “Kidding, well she’s my wife but, I know she’s hard on students, not surprised, besides, she rarely cares if students like her, or anyone. I heard from the teacher lounge, that Mr.Jeon had a thing for her, but she didn't care even a bit. Can you believe it, Even I was shocked- I feel like I’m talking too much.”
“Dr.Kang!” Yeri peeked her head into the door, looking at the older with pleading eyes “Mrs.Bae is starting to get mad! Hurry up. She’s something about the second warning!”
“Oh shit, Okay guys now I really gotta go. Uhm, Girl, I need you to keep applying, and if you could you help him change, please. Mr.Sim can’t go out like this, even if he’s rich enough to make everyone forget.” Dr.Kang gave Sunoo a thumbs up, while she grabbed her coat from her chair and ran out the door “Good, Stay well, Jake.”
“She’s… Something-”
“You don’t have to help me change by the way, I can do it, it doesn’t hurt at all.” Jake tried to act normal, making a small laugh in between his dialogue, scratching the back of his head.
“Yeah, I wasn’t planning to.” Sunoo laughed too, siding her eyes in awkwardness, while she was applying the cream to a bruise on his arm. She actually wasn’t planning on seeing this boy naked, she has some self control.
“Oh, right, yeah.”
There was an awkward silence in the room. Why does she feel so awkward around this guy? But at the same time she has this weird feeling down on her stomach, that makes her cheeks want to turn red and makes her want to squeal like a mouse. She’s sure he’s getting awkward too, because each time he gets, he pretends to read the back side of the lotion she was applying, or pretends to look at every single angle of the room except from where she is.
“So, what was the real reason?”
“HUh?”
“That you got hit by the car? Why did you actually get hit? You looked at me in a weird way before saying that” Oh you’re getting bold now Kim Sunoo. How to make a guy not like you? Confrontation. For no damn reason, it seems most of the guys she’s known in life hate that.
“Oh that? I actually got hit?” Jake said.
“Oh, I thought there was more to it.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, you said that you were running in no? When your grandma hit you with her car-.”
“Huh- well it’s personal business, I can’t really say.” Jake trailed off.
“Oh, okay.” Sunoo seemed a bit embarrassed, looking back down to applying the cream. And of course in Jake’s eyes, he thought he was being rude. In Sunoo’s Brain, she was beating herself for being so bold all of the sudden.
Jake started to feel a bit embarrassed too. He had two choices, be bold and tell her it’s none of her business, or straight up embarrass himself. He has not the guts to do both, since looking at him now, he feels bad that she’s embarrassed to know that emberrasses him. It’s a whole mess!
Just tell her jake!
“Well, Actually this morning I went somewhere.” Jake relaxed a bit, but that was on the outside, inside his little ‘inside out’ emotions were running around and yelling at him to stop. What can be so hard about this, right?
“Oh yeah, you said that earlier.” Sunoo nods her head, taking the cap of the cream and putting it back on.
“Yeah I did.” He hit himself mentally “But actually, I went there… to get something.”
“Yeah, I bet that’s what you do when you go somewhere?”
“Yeah…” Jake laughed, his lips pursing a bit afterwards.
He’s never noticed how pretty she actually is. He knows that she is, he really did, she took his breath away when he first saw her. The way her eyes are shaped especially, how can eyes look so pretty and beautiful at the same time? Is that not two different categories? And her lips look like a heart, and her hair is pretty for no reason too. And- Overall you’d understand why he’s into her. RIght- not that he likes her or anything- SHE’S JUST PRETTY.
Really. Really Pretty.
Just do it. Nike. They were right.
Jake took a huge breath and turned over, reaching for his backpack on the floor, grunting a bit since he still was a bit sore, mostly on his top half. He must've still been dizzy, because he almost fell face first if it wasn’t for Sunoo who grabbed his arm just in time.
“Hey, Watch out!” Sunoo almost yelped, grabbing his arm almost immediately as soon as she saw him start to tip over. Her heart almost fell out of her chest, like this boy hasn’t gotten enough injuries today alone. “You’ll get hurt again, then it’d be my fault and then you’d sue me-”
“Here.”
In Jake's was one of the most beautiful boxes she’d ever seen. A green emerald velvety, but it didn’t look like that cheap velvet stuff. Like the one on her mom’s purse, the christmas gift from her aunt- no offense to her mom, but the plastic velvet doesn’t look nice. And outlining the box's middle was the prettiest diamond trimming. Were these real diamonds? There were actual colors reflecting in the core, it was so pretty looking, the way it reflected in the light.
“Wow.” Sunoo’s eyes were widened by the box alone, her lips parted a bit, barely even blinking. Nothing could prepare her for what she was to hear next.
“It’s for you.”
“Huh?!” If only Sunoo’s eyes could widen more- they did, a lot. She was in shock. And she was astounded when Jake decided to open the box.
Inside the pretty box, was the most ethereal piece of jewelry she’s ever seen. Even if it was coming from a girl who only shops for jewelry in thrift stores. In the inside, rested a pretty pendant necklace. Made out of what Sunoo thinks is rose gold, or her eyes are deceiving her, maybe it wasn’t, but the color of the chain was so pretty. The pendant was the shape of a heart, the middle was made out of a pink clear moonstone, the rim being diamonds and well, Sunoo can’t even wrap her head around it. It was so pretty. She was completely speechless, her head wasn’t even processing it.
Was she drooling? She feels like she is drooling.
“Uhm-”
“Here.” Jake sat up, grunting from a small pain that struck his arm. He just had to get hit by a car today. He took the necklace from the box, undoing it from the way it was attached to the velvet pillow. His hands were swift as he unbuckled it.
“Lift up your hair.” Jake was getting more confident now. Look out world, The new jake is coming out for ya. King of, once he’s able to make people fall in love with him just by smiling. Maybe even just by winking.
Sunoo was finally pulled out of her daze, her hands reaching to her hair. She grabbed most of it, she thinks, and lifted it up, trying not to blush when Jake reached over and placed the necklace on her neck, buckling it on. Her lips pursed when he got closer, looking at everything but him, like the clock. Who knew a clock could be so interesting. How does it know when to tick? It’s amazing really.
“There.” Jake smiled, pulling away and sitting back down, he reached for the iphone and pulled out the camera app, turning the phone towards her so she could take a look.
“Wow.” Sunoo’s breath was taken for the third time today, looking at her neck with the pretty necklace. Something that looked close to this must be a fortune. She hoped not, She’d get in a serious money anxiety mode.
“You look pretty with it.” Jake smiled at her, and he wasn’t lying to her. It looked nice, even over her uniform.
“Huh-uh- thank you.” Sunoo couldn’t stop the blush from coming. Like your mom last night. She cleared her throat after looking down.
“My dad started working with his friend recently, and they’re making a line of jewelry. He let me look at the samples and I saw this one- I thought you’d like it, since it was really pretty.” Jake said, remembering last night actually. During the dinner meeting, how Jake longed to just go to his room and play Genshin Impact with Heeseung and Niki, but instead, he had to listen to the adults talk while he stayed there and listened.
It was easier really when he was younger. He’d tell his mom that he wasn’t feeling good and she’d let him walk out of those meetings with no questions asked. No, but now he actually has to listen because for some reason it’s good for the company. Especially since he has to run the company.
He had to listen to an hour worth of childhood memories, sad divorces, happy new marriages, miscarriages, pregnancies, the guy’s vasectomy, when he reversed it back, then got it again- he listened to it all. But when it was time for the guy to show them the samples that were delivered, his eyes weren’t able to leave the pretty treasure.
That’s why he was late to school that day. He woke up extra early in the morning, asked his butler to drive him to seoul to ask for the necklace, asked for it to be discontinued, drive back, he got out the car and began to run for his backpack in the house and then boom- he got run over.
“Your dad’s friend?”
“Yeah, he owns Harry Winston, the diamond company-“
“What- h-how much is it-“
“The necklace? I think they were thinking around 60k? Since it was handmade in New York. But my dad said that the marketing team wanted to raise it to 70…” Jake continued to talk, leaving the girl in shock to herself.
Sunoo’s mouth fell open, eyes widened like deers in a headlight. 60k? This thing around her neck cost more than her college funds- hell it cost more than the restaurant her parents own. And she’s just wearing it? Shouldn’t things this expensive be displayed, somewhere far away from her? Like in those museums for expensive-ass things. Oh god, this thing could literally be more expensive than herself? Her head hurt to think about it, if she were to do anything to this necklace, she’d never let it go from her consciousness.
Especially since you know, she’s never had such an expensive thing be this close to her. It’s literally around her neck, touching her chest.
“I should take it off.” Sunoo whispered, her hands reaching behind her hair to grab on the chain, but she was stopped by Jake grabbing her wrist.
“Why? It’s pretty on you.”
“I don’t wanna dirty it.”
“You won’t dirty it?”
“Yeah but, you don’t wanna sell used items.”
“Sell? Why would I? It’s yours.”
It’s mine?
Mine.
IT’S MINE ?!
“It’s...Mine.” Sunoo’s voice definitely sounded more high pitched than usual, her eyes feeling like it was twitching thinking about it. Jake gave her a gift. A GIFT? For her? But it’s so expensive she’s going to lose it. Screw expensive? Actually no because this necklace is money- but why would Jake give her a gift. There’s so many questions and no answers!
“Yeah, like I said, It reminded me of you.”
“Of me?”
“Yeah, It’s pretty.”

“She’s not hot.”
“She’s Emma fucking Watson!” Jay pointed to the woman on his phone, his finger aggressively tapping against the screen “There’s no fucking way you don’t find her attractive bro, she’s literally the beauty standard.”
“The European beauty standard is meant for white people, of course she fits it.” Jungwon pointed out. Ah, the course her counselor made her take in the eighth grade was ‘anatomy’.
Unfortunately for her, she sat through hours of class periods learning about body shapes and even face structures. Don’t you think she’d be tired of having Emma Watson all over her eyesight.
“She has a point. Beauty standard does equal her being hot.” Heeseung crossed his arms over his chest to make an ‘X’.
“That’s not what I meant.”
“It’s obvious what you meant.”
“Okay But she obviously has a perfect body! Look at that!” Jay swiped to the next picture of the woman doing some, some pose that made her look like she was walking, but in reality she wasn’t, but it still fascinated Jay because how does she do it. Since, you know, people obviously don’t know how to pose. Emma Watson invented it.
“She doesn’t, she has a body. Everybody has a body Jay.” Jungwon grabbed her forked, annoyedly stabbing her cooked zucchini and taking a bite. The way she chews her food angrily makes both boys remind them of a bunny, a very angry bunny, with possible rabies.
“Are you jealous, Jungwon?” Heeseung looked over to the girl who seemed to now be repeatedly shoving food from her plate into her mouth without stopping. Was she storing her food what the fuck? Or maybe she was just swallowing. Was she swallowing?
That’s what he said, Damn Heeseung you comedian son of a bitch.
Jay kind of looked hopeful, hoping his mastermind plan would work at least for right now. Him and Heeseung spent an hour of their class time making a plan to make Jungwon fall for him. Did they ignore their classwork to do it? Yes they did. Was it worth it?
No it wasn’t. They got in trouble with Mr. Choi because apparently you’re not supposed to be talking about outside life because you’ll get distracted and not do your Government classwork. Who knew that he was right too.
“No, I’m not.” Jungwon swallowed her food, putting her fork down, and staring at the both guys with fierce eyes. “I’m just pissed at you two think you even have the right to criticize women’s faces and bodies. In fact, stop criticizing women, assholes.” She said that last part, very, quietly.
Heeseung looked at Jay in a very sorry , you lost look. And Jay couldn’t even be happier. This is part of his plan. It wasn’t originally, but he’s playing along as he goes. Now this is his plan. Just roll with it.
“Besides, I believe Zendeya should be considered the Hottest woman on earth, Emma Watson stands no chance.” Jungwon said in between, looking up at the guys “Not only is her face both pretty and beautiful, she’s tall and has a nice body proportion, so Emma Watson can suck it.”
“I agree, Zendeya is hot.” Heeseung pitched in, raising his hand as he looked at Jay, getting up and moving to sit next to Jungwon “I’m with her on this one, good luck buddy.”
“No she has a point, nobody can beat Zendaya.” Jay sighed, grabbing his utensils and picking up a sad piece of asparagus “Except for me.”
“You shouldn’t even try, you won’t win.” Heeseung cringed, shaking his head at Jay as he saw Jay strike a pose.
“You keep telling yourself that, Jay.” Jungwon gave him an awkward smile- and.
He’s back to square one. All that talking to her to get her comfortable was all thrown away once he saw her go back to writing on her papers. Damn it, Jay, you just had to keep running your mouth didn’t you.

Sunoo was still trying to calm down from the nurse's office. She came in thinking she was just helping the guy out and she came out with an expensive necklace around her neck.
With all the pressure from the price tag, it felt like the necklace was a 50-pound weight around her neck, instead of a lightweight beauty.
The girl sighed as she walked down the hall, ignoring the stares she got from the guys in their lunch hour. Was she pretty or did she look sad? Either one, Sunoo will never know, because people are so hard to read and she has absolutely no idea If Jake likes her or not.
Sunoo was probably overthinking it.
But let’s look at the timeline. Sunoo met Jake during lunchtime, on Tuesday. To Sunoo it was love at first sight, kind of, but she has no idea what Jake’s take on the situation was. Then she talked to him for a bit during the first meeting, which made her like the boy even more- for no reason. And then this morning, during their break he came in, but they barely talked, and not that long ago, he gave her a necklace.
But what does it mean! Does it mean he’s interested? Does it mean he wants to be friends? Why would he go out of his way to get her this? Why was he thinking of her when he saw it? It could’ve been Jungwon! For all she knows.
She’s overthinking it.
How could a handsome rich cute guy like her? He’s way out of her league. She could barely pull anyone, and that’s by a long shot. She’s nothing special. Why would he like her?
Sunoo sighed to herself as she entered the cafeteria. Why did she kind of feel embarrassed? Shouldn’t she be overjoyed. It’s probably her hormones messing with her and giving her mixed emotions. Not even a good writer could portray her feelings at the moment. If she had to describe it, it’d be a combination of shy, happy, confused, embarrassed, fluttery, nervous and every other emotion you could ever feel.
She pursed her lips, her hand reaching to play with the necklace in her hand. Habits never die, especially for an expensive necklace.
Her eyes wandered around the cafeteria. Very much like Belift Girl Academy, but it seemed that the Hybe had more fast food options. From the cheese factory to normal school lunch food. Oh, sorry, gourmet food.
Normally, she has to pack herself lunch in the morning, since her scholarship did not cover the lunch programs offered to all the students. Every morning, at seven am she wakes up to prepare herself food, along with her other siblings. Was she jealous, yes, but she knew some of the cooks, so sometimes they gave her sweets.
But things are changing. The school is giving her and Jungwon free lunch passes for their time being here. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Now she can’t wait for them, because she’s always wanted to try rich people's food. A lifelong dream of hers. Ever since she watched that catering show with her mom as a kid. The food there always made her mouth water.
No longer will she have to watch her friends eat lobster while she stuck to simple gimbap rolls. Now she was also on top of the food chain- kind of. For like the next few months.
“Thank god there’s no line.” She talked to herself, grabbing a metal tay from where they were distributing it. It reminds her of when she used to eat school lunch in middle school. You know the one she was eligible to get for free.
“Soccer Ball.”
Just when Sunoo didn’t think her day could get more confusing, she winced when something bumped against her hip, making her almost lose her balance, almost letting go of the metal tray.
Park Fucking Sunghoon.
“Don’t call me that.” Sunoo got into the line, making sure to leave him behind, but to her surprise, he’s a fast walker, practically behind her in the line. What a fucking cliche. It makes her sick. He makes her sick with the smug smile he was giving her.
“What’s in your panties, Cheeseball?” Sunghoon asked, trying to get her to look at him but she only paid attention to her tray, waiting for her turn to get food. But that seemed to be a while, because the guy in front of her was Huening Kai. And he knows for sure that the latter takes a shit long time trying to decide between foods. Especially since today they were serving a choice between Premium Beef Kimchi Stew and Seafood Truffle Jjajangmyeon. They’re going to be here for a while, why not make some small talk while they’re at it.
“First of all, Stop calling me that.” Sunoo said as she put her tray on the counter, surprised but didn’t show it, how the tray connected to the countertop, making it easy to slide across. The goddamn rich people, making her feel poor. So what if the countertops back at the restaurant are stained, wood always looks better than their porcelain countertops!
“Second, Stop talking to me.” Sunoo continued, tapping her foot as she waited for the brown-haired boy in front of her to choose his meal.
“You have such high standards don’t you.” Sunghoon pretended to pout, still trying to get the girl to look at him but was failing miserably, because she seemed way more interested in doing everything else.
Sunoo didn’t care to respond to him, staring down on her plate. What kind of guy takes this long to order something so simple? Just choose what looks good and move on! Her mouth was watering already, whatever was in front of the tallboy smelled really good.
“Yeah, Kim Sunoo.” Sunghoon poked the top of her head, right where her hair part ended. He was trying to go for annoying, Seeing her reactions were really funny to him. And hey, once you find amusement, you find amusement.
“What do you want?” Sunoo yelped, holding the top of her head from this guy’s boney-ass finger.
You know who Sunghoon reminds her of so much. Like her brothers, annoying and there’s nothing good that comes out of them. He has Jihoon’s exact tone when it comes to teasing her. Make fun of her all you want, Park Sunghoon, one of these days she’ll come for you.
“You to talk to me, I don’t like being ignored.” Sunghoon tsked, setting his plate next to hers once HueningKai moved in an inch to the next lady serving side dishes.
“There’s nothing to talk about, Park Sunghoon.”
“Ouch, not the full name.” His hand was held over his chest dramatically, cleaning over his uniform. He was sure he had gotten some wrinkles on it, it’s fine he’ll ask someone to dry clean it anyways.
“Leave me alone,” Sunoo said under her breath, capturing the annoyed face Sunghhoon had spread on his face. Good! He has to understand the world doesn’t revolve around him! She just had a halfway midlife crisis! Oh wait- But this is different, this is her life, not his! Selfish bastard. One of these days she’ll show him to pick on her. She’s not a little kid anymore, she won’t stand to be bullied like this!
“Hey, aren’t I older than you?”
Fuck .
“Hi! Ma’am, could I get the Kimchi stew, Please.” Sunoo was thanking the heavens in her head, over and over, because the boy in front of her finally took a step forward, meaning it was her turn. She looked up at the lunch lady and gave her a smile, smiling even more when she got a smile back.
“Of course honey!” The lady grabbed the porcelain bowl with her gloved hand and placed it on the tray, flinching a bit when she saw Sunoo’s pearly hand get too close to the bowl “Be careful sweetie, it’s a bit hot.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Sunoo laughed along with the lady. Look at her with her customer’s voice. Nice and high pitch, just like how her auntie taught her to. Talk nice, people will like you.
“Ah, are you one of the girls from the academy? BeLift?” The lady beamed, excited to see her.
“Yeah, I’m the Vice President.” Sunoo felt a bit nervous now. Why would she know? Probably because she’s the only girl in line. Or maybe- just maybe a daughter of hers goes to the same academy. Who could it be?
“Oh, I only heard of you two, but I only saw one of them. Oh what was her name? Oh Jungwon-ssi! I was wondering where the so-called breath-taking one away-“ The lady continues to talk, like if she were gossiping to other lady friends “I hear all the boys in like talking about you two! Might I add that the boys seem excited too! It’s nice to see them gush about the grand ball.”
“Yes, The girls at the academy are pretty excited too.” Sunoo nods her head. She wasn’t lying. Like a bunch of hooligans! Her class started screaming when Jungwon gave them the news. Jesus, Sunoo knew girls that already started planning and starting in their custom dresses. CUSTOM. In some other universe, Sunoo would like to be like one of those girls. Throw your money without a care in the world.
Just like Yoon! She had shown Sunoo the plans for her dress and H-O-L-Y S-H-I-T was her dress drop dead gorgeous. All Yellow, only silk and cloth, puffy and sparkly. Around 50k! Jesus her auntie could do something similar for ten bucks.
Except, it’d be itchy and it’d be a one hit wonder- but still. A bargain is a bargain.
Cheap is cheap.
“Oh~ That’s exciting! My son is still looking for a date to take, that’s if you’re still available.”
The lady winked at her, kindhearted and all. She seems like a nice lady, for sure. The type you’d see while shopping, and she greets you with her very lovely smile. With her hair in a bun while her eyes smile with her mouth at you.
Could her son be any different if he was raised by such an angel?
“Oh, Really?”
“Yeah, all he does is talk about you! Don’t tell him I said this! But he was always talking about this girl who can brighten your day with her smile, I’m only guessing it could be you! You brightened my day here!”
Oh geez. Sunoo was in a silly goofy mood. Was she a bit creeped out? Yes she was, but whoever this boy was- they better watch out, Sunoo is a heartbreaker. No she’s not, but she did break her arm that one time. Not anything to brag about, but it was pretty painful. Both for her heart and her arm, she spent the whole time healing watching really bad K-Dramas.
“Actually, Mrs. Song, She already has a date for the ball.” It was so quick Sunoo didn’t even get to process Sunghoon grabbing her hand, interlocking their fingers and holding it up for the woman to see. It was a blink of the eye, first thing she knows, her hand is placed on her tray, and the second, it’s trapped in a cage like hold.
“Oh! I’m sorry Sunghoon! I didn’t notice- Your girlfriend is so pretty!” Mrs.Song gasped a bit, placing a hand on her chest in awe of the young ‘couple’, quote on quote. And as if they were a real couple, she still endlessly complimented the two with her eyes.
GIRLFRIEND?!?! In what world? Probably one rubbed by the worst people on earth because there is no way she’d ever get near to dating such a man. Vice Versa! She doesn’t like him, He doesn’t like her. End of discussion! Who does this woman think she is? Making assumptions like this like she owned the place- No Sunoo, Don’t blame the poor lady.
Blame it all on Sunghoon.
“Thank you-“
Thank you? That’s what Sunghoon says about all the people who compliment his girlfriend? His NOT girlfriend. Oh she feels bad for any sucker who has, will and would date this guy. To his future girlfriend, Sunoo hopes you feel better after all of the headaches this man is going to give you.
“-She’s a bit of a handful though.” Sunghoon clicked his tongue, reaching over to the wrapped utensils and placing them on her tray.
Oh you haven’t seen anything yet, Park Sunghoon.
“Aren’t all girlfriends? Oh, here, I’m already guessing what you’d pick!” The lady picked up another bowl of the stew and set it on Sunghoon’s Tray, placing the utensils next to the bowl. The royalty life.
“Mrs.Song~ You know me well!” Sunghoon laughed, “How’s the lunch shift? It’s been a while since I’ve seen you serving food.”
“Oh Sunghoon. I’ve been busy at headquarters! They rarely let me come down here and actually serve food! I had to resolve the problem with the stolen food truck down in Daegu, So My assistant has been begging me not to come here for my own sake. But what can I do! I barely see my son for what? Two hours a day? Ah- The things of a CEO, You’ll figure it out sooner in life.” The woman kept rambling on and on, almost trailing off on her story.
“ CEO?” Sunoo whispered quietly to herself, toting her head a bit to try and figure out what this woman actually does. Why would she be a CEO and a Lunch server? Is she lying? Something isn’t adding up-
“Sunoo, This is Mrs.Song. You might know her as Song Heejin, the w-“
The world star head chef on earth? Oh god. No wonder she was so nice! This is the lady who cooks with only the finest ingredients on earth. Well not the best chef on earth but she’s rich and her food is so good, or as she heard. She’s the one who cooked for the world leader’s dinner when they visited Korea. They were trying to tell her that this is the woman who has people pay twelve dollars for a head of cabbage! The one who owns a chain of fancy superstores? A chain restaurant? And her own cooking show?
Maybe she should marry into her family.
“Really? My dad is a big fan!” Sunoo was gleaming, remembering just barely how her father watches her show every Sunday morning at breakfast. Annoying if she’s trying to talk to him, fun because he cooks new things because of the show. If she gets to know this woman more, maybe she can get a signed cookbook? His birthday is coming soon, it could work, she could give him this other than the new pot she definitely did not get for free by helping Mr.Huang carry his groceries.
Best daughter award goes to yours truly!
“Oh really? This saturday I actually-”
“Mom!” A guy came crashing into the counter, making a hurt sound as soon as he made an impact. You can tell he was in a hurry, not because he was huffing and puffing, but because his hair was messed up and he probably had some twigs out on his hair.
“MinJae! What happened to you?!”
“Bushes were in the way! Uhm- Oh, Hi.” Minjae got distracted when he finally looked up, standing up straight when he saw that Sunoo was present. He did his best to fix his hair, but it was a failed plan, because his hair was… well rough. and somewhat crunchy.
“Hi?” Sunoo answered confusedly, moving her plate away a bit because it was so close to splattering everywhere.
“Minjae!”
“Oh, Uhm, dad wanted me to tell you about some partner from Brazil? He told me to tell you because you weren’t answering-”
“Oh-Damn! That’s today.” Chef Song started to take off her apron, taking off her hairnet, looking over at some of the lunch servers “I’m taking my leave, emergency! Minjae! Go tell Namjoon- sorry, Director Kim that you’ll be taking a leave for a week.”
“For?!”
“Brazil, Minjae!”
And just like that they walked out of Sunoo’s life-
“Sunoo-ssi! I’ll give you that signed book soon! For your dad!” She could hear her as she was rushing in the back of the kitchen.
Did she read her mind!
“I’ll probably have to cancel the book signing! But it’s nothing to worry about-!” She came around from the back of the kitchen, grabbing onto Minjae’s uniform from the collar.
“Ow, Mom!”
“ You’re getting grounded for ruining a perfect uniform- Alright then, Bye Sunoo, Sunghoon I’ll make sure to contact Mr.Oh to get you some meals from my house- I bet you're tired of seaweed soup every morning!”
Hm, Seaweed soup. Why would Sunghoon get tired of that?
“Bye, Thank you, Mrs.Song.” Sunghoon smiled at her, receiving one back, while he watched her and walked away, dragging Minjae away with her. Poor kid. Surprise Vacation. The worst things a kid like them could get. You have all these things for a weekend, which includes playing soccer all day with the guys and then BAM, your father drags you to the Netherlands for some business meeting. He’s been there and done that.
Nah, That kid is lucky. His mom is Song Heejin. And his dad is the head of an acting agency! Oh, kid is living his dream. To eat something other than fancy dishes. Something that feels like home.
Like home? What does home ever taste like? Like his home? His home would taste bitter, and probably like charcoal. Maybe even like ass.
“Sunghoon?”
“Hm?” Sunghoon hummed, suddenly feeling a little heavy on his chest. He tried his best to ignore it, unconsciously pushing his and her tray at the same time to advance in the line.
Sunoo took a few steps forward, her hands leaving from the tray once she saw him push her own tray. It was weird. His whole vibe changed, like if he was a different person.
“By any chance… is your mom-“
“No.” Sunghoon nonchalantly answered, quietly thanking the lady who placed their sides on the metal tray.
“Oh-“
“No, she’s had miscarriages for the past eighteen years.” Sunghoon sighed, finally deciding that it really didn’t matter if she knew, it’s not like his mother was so involved in his life that she knew who sunoo “she hasn’t had another baby since me.”
Oh. Sunoo didn’t mean to get to this stage. How does she even comfort a person she doesn’t like? She was just asking one question, what if she triggered some bad childhood memories. How does she even comfort someone in a situation like this?
“Oh, I’m sorry-“
“Why? You don’t know my mother. It has nothing to do with you.” Sunghoon said, looking down at his choices of a dessert, his eyes picking between a rich peanut brownie and a gold leaf flan. Both he really doesn’t like, sweet things aren’t really his thing, but it’s better than cake.
He was tired of cake.
“Oh, but still-“ Sunoo was abruptly cut off, again, by Sunghoon.
“What dessert do you want? We’re holding up the line?” Sunghoon stopped her once more, his hand already guessing what she wanted. But he waited for her cue, trying his best to not get her invested in his mommy issue problems.
“Hm?” Sunoo raised a brow, looking at the line. Somehow she was too distracted to notice how they were now the last section of the line, choose your own dessert. She looked down at the option.
She pressed her lips, furrowing her eyebrows to try and pick one. On one hand, she likes cake, but she also likes ice cream. Damn rich people, giving her options as if they saw her as an equal.
“The cake.” Sunoo pointed at a strawberry cake. It looked so good, her mouth-watering a bit just by the sight of it. Or maybe she was just hungry. But the pink and white front mating decorated it so prettily! Not to mention the fresh strawberry on top. Honestly, not as good-looking as the one back at Belift academy, but they could somewhat be on the same-ish lane.
“Okay,” Sunghoon answered, placing one of the cakes down on the platter, without hesitating, he placed one on his own tray for himself.
“Thank you.” Sunoo grabbed her tray. She could feel the sudden awkward tension. This damn man, she hates him so much.
The two slowly made their way away from where they were serving lunch. Sunoo stopped for a bit, her eyes trying to scan for her Best Friend. For sure she had to be here somewhere, this was where Jungwon said she was about fifteen minutes ago. She kinda feels bas=d for leaving her alone in this damn school to be with Jake, but hey Jungwon was the one who offered to stay so she could finish up on her work (their work, Jungwon being the bestest friend ever and letting Sunoo copy from her, it’ even, Sunoo does the math and Jungwon does… well, everything else), how was Sunoo supposed to know she’d spend an hour applying cream to Jake’s elbow for an hour?
“Wait a minute.” Sunoo stopped in her tracks, and almost jumped when she turned around, being jump scared by Sunghoon a little too close to her.
The latter was bent over, just enough to reach her in eye contact. But her eyes weren't what he was focusing on. His eyes were stuck around the piece of fine jewelry around her neck. His brain clicked, it looked so familiar, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Where was it from?
He swears he should know the company. He’s sure he’s seen Jay’s mom have the same necklace as Sunoo. Surely, Sunoo didn’t have it in the morning, he saw her this morning and there was no 24k gold necklace around her neck. His eyes stared at the fine and sculpted lines that were for decoration, he was so confident that he’s seen it before. He just couldn’t put his finger on it.
“Where did you get this?” Sunghoon’s eyebrows furrowed as his hand went to reach for the piece of petty metal.
“Fuck off.” Sunoo stepped back, slapping Sunghoon’s hand away. His fucking audacity, her hands covered the necklace safely. He could’ve made it greasy with his dumb greasy hands.
“Sunoo, who gave it to you?” Sunghoon asked again, his mind putting the pieces together. It… couldn’t have been. Could it? It couldn’t have been him, it just can’t he would never.
“Why do you want to know? It’s none of your business!” Sunoo’s hand now fully covered her necklace, careful to not grip on it, it could start. Maybe, she has no idea how fine jewelry works.
“It’s all of my business.” Sunghoon placed his tray on a table, full on disturbing the guy sitting there, spilling not only his food, but the student sitting there, and his friend next to him. But he didn’t hear the loud clatter nor the words thrown at him in the heat of the moment. He drowned out all of that, as for his eyes and all sense were all towards that piece of garbage around sunoo’s neck.
It can’t be.
“Fine… Jake, gave it to me” Sunoo whispered that last part, a bit shocked by the shouts the guys gave Sunghoon, but she didn’t let that make her let go of her precious. Why did he even care? He had nothing to do with it.
He shouldn’t even care. Why did his face look so mad? If anything he should be happy for her because for once in her life she got something so beautiful in her possession. Not only that but something she got from a guy that might actually like her.
“Jake?” Sunghoon whispered as his eyes widened, it all came adding up one by one. Of course, it was Jake that gave it to her. That son of a bitch has learned nothing. from the past years.
What was on his fucking mind? Was he trying to go through hell again? Sunghoon spent months without Jake, his whole summer was gone because Jake was an idiot and let that bitch take over his brain. He doesn’t understand it. Why was he setting himself up?
Was this all Sunghoon’s fault? Sunghoon looked up at Sunoo’s face. Of course, it is his fault. He let her stay. He means, look at her, he’s just a disaster waiting to happen. If she made Jake do something as idiotic as to give away his mother’s necklace, mind you, the only one in the world, to someone as low as Sunoo.
It’s true. She was the reason.
Sunoo scoffed. “Hey, You better clean up that mess behind you… you dropped his plate-“
“Give me that necklace.”
“What?” Sunoo was a bit stunned. Her hand caged the jewelry, afraid of letting it go. What a fucking mad man. It was just a necklace? She can’t have something nice for once in her life?
“Give it. It’s mine.” Sunghoon’s lip pursed, trying to reach and engulf his hand over hers.
“Hey- get off!” Sunoo shouted at him, trying to step back in an attempt to pull him away but it was no use. What the fuck was his problem! He could tell her what’s going on instead of acting out.
It was at that moment she tried pushing him away with her other hand, but she brought her attention back, noticing that she was still crashing her tray of food.
“Give it.”
It was weird. Sunoo thought to herself. He was gentle instead of rough- and to think he’d be in a fight with her right now, she sure it looked like it was a playful scheme to many of the kids in the cafeteria. It may seem like they were playing.
But there was a look in Sunghoon’s eyes that made Sunoo know for sure that he wasn’t joking. It was a nasty glare, a sense of pure rage or anger. One of those two, She didn’t like it.
It was a look she knew too well.
In a sense of panic, Sunoo let her hand go of the necklace. The latter had a grip on it. It all happened way too fast, He pushed her a bit to get a grip on the necklace, and you could see the rest falling from there.
Haha, jokes. Not really the time but to lighten up the mood.
The necklace must’ve been cheap. Because as soon as the force made it get yanked off her neck, the metal chain shattered, causing no real pain to her neck. In a way, she was kind of relieved. Until…
“Fuck.” Sunoo yelled under her breath as she fell on her ass. It was almost as her actions from Monday were repeating again. But this time, instead of a ball to the face, her food clashed down on her and splatter everywhere.
“Sunoo!” Jungwon came running down to her friend as soon as she heard her. It was like she had telekinetic abilities. Her Sunoo radar if you’d like to call it.
“Oh fuck” Sunoo tried her best no t to raise her voice, her cheeks burning up to what is seemed to be an embarrassment, and her hands were trying their best to peel her skirt away from her thighs, to not meet with the hot broth that seemed to be all over her. It was a little too late for that, she felt her skin burn from the reassure of the hot food, that kind you, had just been taken off from the flame to be served to the students “shit, that burns.”
“Are you okay?” The younger’s worried tone was freaking Sunoo out even more.
“No, i fell on my fucking ass, Won.”
Sunghoon didn’t bother to pay attention to the girls, rather he kept his eyes focused on the necklace. His hand gripped it, wanting it to shatter in his hands. But a thing this heavily crafted could never break in such a condition. You’d need a three-thousand-pound car before you could even think about leaving a dent on this kind of amulet.
He didn’t even process the girl on the floor, his feet having a mind of their own, pacing away. His feet were quick too. Almost running away from the scene to try and find his best friend.
“What a fucking idiot.” Sunghoon muttered under his breath as he broke through the canteen doors, not caring that he bumped into a few students that stared at him in return.
“Asshole.” Jungwon clicked her tongue, whispering under her breath as she watched the latter walk away. Without a single glance. Sunoo was right. He seemed to be the only person to care about himself.
“Fuck- shit it burns.” Sunoo mumbled, her eyes looking up from her clothes to catch a few stares from the students around the canteen.
Oh no.
Oh god.
Her heart started racing as soon as she felt the stares burn into her skin. It was an unpleasant experience, hearing small whispers and a few held in laughs. It was so embarrassing, she could only really try to hide her face with her hair by looking down, her hands gripping on her vest.
“Uhm, this is fine.” Jungwon was a bit freaked out, but she stayed under pressure by trying to lift the older, but any sort of force could result in her also slipping into the soup on the floor “Can you get up.”
“No…” Sunoo shook her head. She was frozen. She was sure he didn’t have anything broken, she literally just fell on her ass and nothing more. But the embarrassment seemed to keep her in her place. Kind of saying to sit there and let people look at you.
What a cruel punishment.
If this was because she placed the boxes in the trash last night. She didn’t mean to. If that made her the devil then so be it, it’d be better than her current situation.
“Can you try?” Jungwon whispered back to her, now squatting to try and communicate face to face with her.
“Are they still looking?”
“Who?”
“Who do you think?”
Jungwon looked up for a single second. They were more than looking. But some were even recording. She felt a rock in her stomach. What a bunch of losers. Seriously, what kind of assholes go to this damn school.
“Jay! What the fuck!”
Her head turned to the yelling.
“Oh my god, what are you doing? This is so embarrassing.” In a somewhat dead tone voice, Heeseung Shockedly covered his mouth in pretend, looking at the younger male who stood proudly on the table.
“Has anybody seen my wife?” Jay slowly walked around the lunch table, pretending he was tear older then am he already was, by holding his back as if it were in pain and walking in a crooked manner. In his hand he pretended to hold a walking stick, and on his head was the bowl of pasta Heeseung was eating earlier.
He was doing a ‘fake impression’ of what Jungwon believed to be the monopoly man. Or some old guy. Jungwon doesn’t know, but what a brave guy.
The students turned to the table where it seemed to be making a ruckus. And whatever play Jay had seemed to have been working, because instead of the attention being on Sunoo, Jay stole the spotlight.
“Seriously, she has two eyes, a nose and a mouth… a man’s dream!” Jay spoke in an old man kind of voice. There were a few laughs, and many of them were loud. Whatever he was doing, made them laugh out loud.
And instead of having their cameras faced on Sunoo, they all turned to Jay.
“Who’d like to give grandpa a hand on the dance floor?”
It really wasn’t funny. But Jungwon couldn’t help giving out a small laugh at how Jay started awkwardly dancing around a bunch of guys who were now crowding him. Like birds to a piece of bread.
Oh, right.
“Sunoo, come one we can go now.” Jungwon looked at her friend but she still seemed to be in a shocked state.
“What are you guys still doing here?” The two girls were startled by Heeseung, who appeared behind them out of nowhere, also squatting along with Jungwon.
“Oh- she can’t get up.”
“She can’t?”
“No, we already tried-“
Heeseung looked a bit hesitant for a single second. His lips pursed and looked at the girl before him. In a swift motion, he took off his blazer and placed it on Sunoo’s lap. Before either could say anything, he placed his arm under her knees, while the other on her back, he picked her up with ease, standing up fully.
Jungwon gawked in shock, looking up at him, her eyes blinking as if she didn’t believe it. So now we’re carrying strangers now? Makes sense, It’s how she and Sunoo met. But instead of Carry it was Sunoo dragging her ass down stairs and trying to call for any adult around. JUngwon chose the wrong day to have an allergic reaction that day.
“Jungwon, Go outside. On the soccer field, there’s a blonde tall guy. You might remember he came into the council room earlier. Ask him to ask his coach for a code yellow- he’ll know what you mean, and meet me in the council room.” Heeseung made a wholeass mission. How his brain came up with it so fast, Jungwon has no idea, but she doesn’t want to let her friend soak up in seafood stink.
“Who- The Niki kid?”
“Yeah, He’ll give you what you need- oh and send him up there with the clothes too.”
Jungwon nodded her head determinedly and watched as Heeseung sneaked out of the cafeteria without anyone noticing him or Sunoo. What a gentleman. You see, why can’t guys like him like her. Instead she only has that one guy from 7-11, who she’s pretty sure at least has five kids. Not that he looks old. He used to be in her sixth grade class, but he grew up tired, cranky and dull of life.
Jungwon sighed as she turned around, heading towards the door of the cafeteria that leads to the outside of the building. Her eyes caught Jay in the act of dancing with some of the other guys, not giving a care of the students filming him, or even laughing.
She was even sure that he was copying the dance moves from popular girl group, Girls Generation. And in all the years she’s liked them, she thinks Jay is the only one who could pull off those moves. She loves them, don’t get her wrong, she loves her girls, but whatever this boy was doing, made it seem so fun and full.
Jungwon smiled a bit as she opened the door, just slightly. She was sure a tiny laugh came out as well as she watched him, covered in food embarrass himself in front of his classmates.
Maybe Sunoo was wrong. He’s not THAT weird.

“It’s pretty? LIke you?”
Jake groaned and threw himself back on the cotton medical bed. He winced a bit when he felt his head hit the pillow. So much for this brand flexing on how soft their pillows were. Soft was his ass, because the impact made it feel like his bones got shattered.
“You’re an idiot! Why would you say that to her!” Jake whined again, slapping his hands over his face when he felt his ears begin to redden.
He had his doubts about his actions. And he won’t lie, he's regretting it deeply. Questions came running to his head. WHat if she hated it? What if she sells it? What if someone finds out about it and steals its design to mess with his dad’s company. What if he were to disappoint his family again? What if-
His mind kept racing, so much he felt a headache come on. He uncovered his eyes to look as the dotted ceiling of the nurse’s office. He was fucked, to say the least. You don’t just take one of the most expensive pieces of Jewlery in Korea and give it to a girl you meet on monday.
What were you thinking?
But she liked it. His mind couldn't stop thinking the way her eyes lit up just by the sight of the heart pendent. His heart almost swelled thinking about how she smiled so brightly by having it in her possession. He was sure she’d hate it. When he first met her, he honestly believed she had a whole room of Jewelry. She seemed to be that kind of girl who had glass cases of necklaces and rings, sometimes even bracelets. And she probably has a maid who slips on the Jewelry that matched her outfit for the day.
He was so confident that the necklace he gave her was going to be one of the worst she’d ever received. What if someone in her life gave her a fine crafted glass pendant that looks like a star, and his gift was only trash compared to it.
But by the way she reacted, she seemed to even be scared to even be near it. Especially when hearing the price. She was odd for sure, but It melted Jake when she did take the necklace. And when she wore it when she left the room.
He groaned again, covering his face as soon as he felt his cheeks burnt up. What’s going on with him? He shouldn't be feeling this- he can’t even shoot his shot because of Mr.I-Get-What-I-Want.
Sunghoon. Why does he have to shove his nose into everything! He knows he has good intentions, but his best friend needs to learn his boundaries.
A heavy sigh left the boy on the medical bed, his hands dragging off his face, off his eyes he could finally see the dots on the ceiling again. He sat up in the bed, the covers naturally falling down to his thighs. His arms supported his weight, both down behind his sides. He ignored the small bit of soreness that came from his shoulders.
Damn doctor. She acted like it was the first time some kid got hit by his grandma's car. It’s not like it actually hurts.
He was sure she saw him too, his grandma is not old, she was around her early fifties. At least… 53? She still had her vision, and if not she still could’ve heard the shout her own servants gave her. His grandma was, to put it in the nicest way, insane. She was stuck up, confident and selfish to say the least. Always pulling Jake by his ear and forced him to do things he never wanted to do. Jake, take college business classes so you can overtake your mom’s company. Jake, get into advanced math classes so you can know how to calculate smartly. Jake you can’t make the same mistake your parents did.
Him being the mistake, of course. His grandma wouldn’t be tasteful if she didn’t poke at his existence every time she gets.
She was a classic antagonist to any story. Tall, skinny and a face sculpted to sharpen a knife. Everyone who met her believed her to be his mother, she was young enough to be so. She’d sometimes pick him up from school on the most random days. Of course the boys at his school stare at her, with her hair slicked into a bun, she was taller than most of them, thin and elegant in a skin tight designer black dress. Tall and pointy red heels. She wore a big black sun hat, and she covered her evil eyes behind her sunglasses. And it all comes down to that red lipped frown of hers. She looked like a villain out of a book.
And she was. As much as he loves his grandmother (forced), she has never returned the same back. He couldn’t care less until she hit him with her car.
He knows she saw him. He was running down the entrance that led to the gate. He was already late, so running was his best option not to miss out during their morning break, he was planning to see Sunoo that day after all. It all happened pretty quickly, he was going to run through the opening gate doors that led to their driveway and onto the street. He did notice the car, bance why he ran a bit faster until he hit the metal, rolling onto the hood, and falling down once she stopped.
Now, it wasn’t a serious case to him. She’s done worse. And afterall, it didn’t hurt a bit, well it did but not as much as he’d expected. It felt more like a punch, more than anything. He could’ve called this a beating instead of a hit and run, if it wasn’t that he hit his head. Which, by the way, he learned that a small nap took away the headache he had earlier in the morning. He must’ve been drowsy instead of woozy.
Jake sighed and rubbed his head. His family was so complicated, he’d rather not talk about them, ever again. Sometimes, he wished his family would go bankrupt, so they could go and experience everything they’ve been against. It could be how it is in the movies, how families with little to no money are closer than those who are rich. He hopes that’s how it works, because it works on his side.
Enough about his family. He doesn’t want to talk about them.
There was a knock on the door that made him jolt on the bed, not moments after the door was rushed into, heavy steps filling the room. Jake turned his head over to the side, staring at the shadow against the medical curtain.
He squinted to try and make out the silhouette. Pointy nose, tall and slim figure.
He couldn’t really tell, until the medical curtain was held, and opened, pretty hardly, once the medical curtain reached the wall, it flushed upwards before falling down gracefully. What kind of lunatic-
He didn’t know, until he looked up at the figure. His eyes widened, and his mouth fell wide. His face was in complete shock.
“Hello.”

“I look stupid!”
“How bad can it be? It’s just a uniform?” Jungwon argued back, but in lowercase. Her hands ran through the cold water, her arms scrubbing hard against Sunoo’s worm skirt, trying to take off the stain in the front. She doesn’t say anything when she sees tores starts to rip apart from what she believes used to be a hole. She just keeps her quiet, and moves on to a mother spot to try and not to rip the skirt more.
“I know but… it’s weird!” Sunoo said from behind the closet door. She was crowded in there, you could tell there wasn’t much walking space, because when she was changing you could hear things fall each time she took a step.
“Sunoo, if it doesn’t fit, I can ask my sister to bring clothes.” Heeseung said from the back door, his back against the frame. He was protecting the door from anybody who wanted to come into the council room. So far only two guys tried to go in, but Heeseung came up with the best idea, saying that he was keeping a lookout for a code 209. They knew what that meant, they gasped and ran for it. You think you’d know what it means, all you have to know is that it’s not anything relatively sexual or drug related.
“Could you?” Sunoo said quickly, opening the door a bit and peaking only her eyes out, looking at the tall male.
Heeseung let out a small snort looking at her, nodding his head.
“Yeah, but she lives in Busan.”
“Fuck off.” She groaned, slipping back into the dark room like a creature in the dark. She slumped against the small space of the wall.
“I bet it’s not even bad! It’s just a sweater and joggers!”
“I know- but… it’s still embarrassing… can’t I wear my uniform.” Sunoo asked, sounding sad.
Jungwon made a face, as if she was hurt. She looked down at the soaking skirt. It wouldn’t get dry anytime soon.
“Well, you see, but it may take uhm, some time…” Jungwon laughed, her hands shoving the skirt to the side of the sink. She’ll give her a skirt later. She has some old ones she’s been meaning to throw out, knowing her best friend, she won’t take anything new from anyone. She doesn’t know how people could be humble, knowig her parents would be more than happy to buy Sunoo a new wardrobe, with all their money have lying around. All they do is buy useless shit. Who the he needs a five foot tall cheese grater. Her dad, apparently.
“Yeah, that uniform has no more time left.” Heeseung pitched in, his long neck strecthing to see the skirt, the poor thing in a few minutes from ripping to threads. It looked like it had a long life, now it was returning to how it started.
“Shhh.” Jungwon tried to whisper quietly with a finger over her mouth. Her firend was already stressed by her situation. She doesn’t want anymore stress put on her.
“Sorry.” Heeseung pretended to whisper back, putting a hand over his mouth.
“I can hear both of you!”
“It’s a delusion, it’s not us!”
“Hyung.”
Heeseung was a bit startled, turning to the deep-ass voice that came from behind him. He was too distracted by the girls to actually keep watch from the doorway, if anybody potentially nosy was to be the one who passed by, he probably wouldn’t have heard the end of it.
“Oh… shit, Niki.” Heeseung said in a sigh, kind of relieved that it was him, instead of… well someone that was not him. Honestly, if it was anybody else, it would’ve been terrible.
“Hyung, I brought other clothes.” Niki stood awkwardly, clothes in his hands, well, they were clothes to his chest. He made it his duty from the office to the room, to bring the clothes, spotless.
“Oh- other clothes?” Heeseung stood up straight so he could let the younger one in. He watched him as he walked over to the table quietly, waved to Jungwon and laid the folded cloth on the table.
“Other clothes?” Jungwon waved back, but she was confused. The boy, almost 20 minutes ago, had just brought in some extra gym clothes from the boys locker room.
“Mhm, I contacted my sister. She brought me some gym clothes from her school…” Niki nodded his head, his hand gripping on the top of a chair, casually leaning “… I didn't know if this noona felt comfortable with our gym clothes, since they aren’t really considered… pretty.”
And it was true. As much as their school uniform goes out to be, it was pretty eye-catching. As a rich private school, they’re pretty flexible with their uniforms. Their usual uniform contains grey slacks, a dark navy blue blazer with their school logo embroidered to their left. Underneath they have some options, they could have a sweater vest over a white button up, or just have the button up. And ofcourse, their tie that matches their school colors. It’s not as strict as many schools though, there are the occasional times where people wear hoodies or jackets over, or sometimes, they wouldn’t have the blazer at all. The school was known for having the most basic style of uniform, but when you dig underneath it gets shocking when you come to the realization that the uniforms cost around $4,600 to make.
They’re rich, growing boys. The material used is so fine, not even a 0.3 pencil could compre.
Their physical uniform is not as… grand. A blue, yellow and white tracksuit. It isn’t as pretty as you’d think it is.
Besides, Niki felt kind of guilty. He just took a uniform from the shelves. It was by the clean clothes rack, next to the laundry. The coach was too busy flirting with his boyfriend on the phone, so Niki just grabbed and went.
He was in a rush to get back to her anyways.
“Your sister. She came all the way here with an extra pair of clothes?” Heeseung raised a brow, closing the door behind him as he walked over to the table. All he knows about his sister is that she’s equally as quiet, and she goes to the private middle school that is a few blocks away.
“Mhm, she ran over here…” Niki said, looking like he was hesitant to say the next pet, but he pursed his lips and it came out anyways “… she, she said she already watched the video of what happened.”
“Eh-“ Jungwon was found dumbfounded. What kind of low-life spreads a video so quickly!
Oh god.
Oh no.
This is where her best friend might lose it. If she knew there was already a video uploaded for all of Korea to see her falling with food all over her- she’s going to freak out! She’s going to shut herself in her room for life!
Who’s going to take care of her when she’s old and wrinkly? She assumes Sunoo will stay young and beautiful forever because, welll look at her she’s Kim Fucking Sunoo-
Oh uhm, that’s something to discuss another time. Jungwon never thought about that, erase that.
“Oh shit, is it… bad?” Heeseung bit his bottom lip. He should know, he had a front row seat.
He remembers it like it was only a few minutes ago (It was). At the moment, he had two things running through his mind. What the fuck was going on with Sunghoon, and why the hell would the school choose to serve hot lunch out of all the days. Oh, and of course, if she was okay. He almost jumped out of his seat if it wasn’t for Jay who pulled him back. He still didn’t know why he was pulled , and he didn’t understand why Jay pulled that god awful stunt. He forgot how fast Jay was in a situation. He was like Superman.
One thing is for sure… he’s going to have a long talk with Sunghoon involving Sunoo and his blackmail date scheme.
You see, normally he wouldn’t care about Sunghoon’s actions but this time, it was different.
“Not… that bad. It seemed like it hurt.” Niki said, pursing his lips, but his face brightened, like he remembered something, he reached into his pockets and took out a small container “She also brought a burn cream!”
“Woah, your sister is an Angel, Niki!” Jungwon beamed, taking the burn cream and reading the instructions as soon as possible. She was sure Sunoo was in pain from the hot food, obviously, it was literally fresh off the stove not that many minutes before it spilled on her. Hopefully the cream could ooze the pain, though she’s never seen this kind of medication before, it didn’t look sketchy, per say, but it wasn’t familiar.
“I wouldn’t say angel…” Niki scratched the back of his head, remembering that godawful time she cried for hours so she could get the last grape, she got it too because their mom came in and scolded him, “… more like a goblin, I like my older sister more.”
“Wait? You have two sisters?”
“Yeah? Heeseung Hyung, I think I’ve only mentioned one of them.”
“What! How could you hide that from me?”
“It wasn’t hidden.”
“Then how come I never knew?”
“Because, Hyung, you’ve never asked.”
“Yes I have!”
“When have you asked, Hyung?”
“When I asked if that was your sister-oh.” Now that Heeseung looked back on it, the only reason why he did think that was because the girl came running and tackled Riki to the ground. Now he felt dumb.
“Oh, Sunoo, we have other clothes for you now!” Jungwon remembered suddenly, placing the cream down and taking the clothes into her hands.
“Really!” Sunoo’s head popped from our closet door, her eyes peeking at the cloth in Jungwon’s arm, thank god. Whatever this material was, it was soft for sure, but it wasn’t as nostalgic as the rough feeling of middle school gym clothes. Ah, how she misses the rash she’d get on the side of her stomach from the sandpaper shirt. She used to carry a certain cream around just for it, as dumbas it sounds, she misses the struggles of public school.
The girl almost bursted out of the door, her arms supporting herself as she learned over the table to look at the clothes. But of course she was disappointed.
“Huh? It’s still gym clothes?”
“Sunoo! Your clothes aren’t even bad!” Jungwon crossed her arms over her chest, raising a brow. So this is what she was complaining about for fifteen minutes, it was just a little too big on her.
“Huh? What! You know I don’t like tracksuits” Sunoo pouted, standing up straight to show off the clothes. It’s true, she genuinely doesn’t like them. Sure, this one is warm and comfortable, but she hates the way she looks in them.
Her pant hems pooled on her feet, she had to roll up the bottom to even walk properly, and the sleeves were a little long on this one. Whoever was the owner of this suit had to be some tall bitch, because holy shit. Sunoo considers herself an average height, but this suit was tall.
“It looks fine! You make it look good even!” Jungwon grumbled, annoyed at the fact that Sunoo would ever think something would look relatively bad on her.
“Fine? The fit is ugly!”
“No!”
“Hm?” Sunoo stopped her small argument, her head turning to the stranger boy next to Heeseung. Oh! It was that boy from earlier in the day, the one who gave her the muffin and ran away without saying a thing.
“Oh, I mean… you do make it look pretty….” Niki cleans his throat, his voice went up another octave, a sign of his nervousness, he scratched the back of his head without keeping eye contact “…the color fits you a lot-“
“Wait! Does that mean you didn’t like that suit I gave you for Christmas! You said you loved it!” Jungwon started the argument again, her hands on her hips as she tapped her foot against the ground. Does Sunoo not like any of her gifts? Was she a bad gift giver? What about that one time when she gifted Sunoo a whole new kitchen redesign package included with new appliances that one Christmas. Yes she did have to return it, because Sunoo said that poor people had this thing called ‘dignity’, but do you know how long it took Jungwon to get rid of a truck worth of restaurant appliances? About six hours! Like an eternity in the rich world. God, the real life problems of rich people.
“For the last time Jungwon! It was a Jojo Siwa tracksuit! Of course I’ll keep it but I won’t wear it!” Sunoo of course loved the queen, she’s THE gay icon of the century, but will she have her face on her jacket and matching joggers, no she wouldn’t.
Not in this economy.
“I can’t believe this! You lied to me, you told me you wore it to your brother’s party!”
“My brother’s party- when did I say that?”
“Don’t you remember! Your brother's 6th birthday- you said you did!”
“I never said that!”
“Hey, Niki.” Heeseung let out a small snort when the boy jolted from his spot, his eyes were so focused on Sunoo he probably forgot where he was. His face showed it all, he lips were so parted, he’s sure for the past minute flies had been flying in, and his eyes were so stuck on her, you’d believe she was a mouse trap. Niki being the mouse.
God, he looked dumbly in love.
He didn’t even know her.
“Huh, yeah “ Niki’s head turned around so fast to his elder, and for the first time ever Heeseung actually saw an expression on the younger’s face. He cleared his throat, trying to distract himself of the fact that his face felt like it was on fire.
“So what’s your plan here?” Heeseung raised an eyebrow, his finger circling over Sunoo from afar, indicating something about the girl. She was still in a fight with Jungwon about, who knows what- honestly Heeseung tuned them out once they started to argue about whatever they were talking about before.
“Here?” Niki looked confused, his eyes moved to the side, thinking real hard on what Hyung was trying to say. He hopes he wasn’t missing anything from the picture, especially if it was right in front of him.
“Your plan? Didn’t you plan this?” Heeseung asked again, now slipping his hands in the pockets of his slacks, his face forwarding to Sunoo, for Niki to notice.
“I- have no idea what you’re talking about, Hyung?” Niki was beyond confused, what was he trying to say?
“The tracksuit, is that not yours, Nishimura?”
Niki finally noticed what he was talking about, and he wished he didn’t.
He gasped so loud, almost jumping out of his shoes, it even surprised Heeseung, his hand smacking over his mouth in shock. He didn’t even notice it before, but the name on her back clearly was written in bold letters, Nishimura. Though it was a necessity for all boys to have their last names on the back, which is kind of dumb when you think about it can you imagine all the confusion from the students named Kim or Park, this wasn’t the regular uniform. It was his Jersey sportswear. It even had his number on the back, the number 24.
“I- uhm-“ The boy struggled to come up with a sentence, one that could make the most sense at least “I didn’t- I didn’t even do that, Hyung!”
“Mhm, that’s not your Jersey number?” Heeseung chuckled, placing a hand on the younger’s shoulder, making the poor boy jolt in fear once more. He seemed more timid than usual.
“No! I swear- I just picked out a random set from the shelf!” He tried to save himself, but the look his Hyung gave him seemed like he didn’t believe him.
But it was true. Surely you can believe him. He was impatient when his coach was talking to his boyfriend on the phone, he just grabbed a pair from the pile next to the laundry…
Niki’s head turned to the chalkboard, his eyes widening when he read the date for the day.
Friday.
The day they coach was supposed to get them new sportswear! Holy balls! He was so screwed, what was going through his mind when he grabbed it. What was he thinking- was he even thinking? Obviously not because the girl he had a sort of attraction to was wearing his jersey. Well not his official jersey, but one so similar it made his stomach flutter.
So this is what it must feel like to be a male lead in one of those dramas his older sister likes to watch. He always wondered what made those guys lose their mind over a girl, since well, it has never happened to him.
But look at him now, his mind was all over the place about Sunoo that he mistook his clothes and gave them to her.
“Oh shit, I’m right huh?” Heeseung laughed lowkey, now whispering in an attempt for the girls to accidentally overhear him. Like the good Hyung he is, he won’t let his baby get embarrassed in front of the one he likes.
“Hyung, it’s not what it looks like-“
“You like Jungwon, huh?”
“Huh?”
“Yeah, she looked mad jealous when Sunoo wore your jersey.” Heeseung pointed over at the girlies, who were now talking about Sunoo’s grandma, somehow. But he focused his eyes on Jungwon.
Jungwon? Holy shit, Heeseung-Hyung thinks he likes Jungwon?
Maybe he was glad that his Hyung could be a little oblivious at times. Like all those times he secretly took food from his bag without him knowing or convincing him it was Jake.
“What-“
“C’mon dude, I wasn’t born yesterday” He snorted, letting go of his shoulder and punching the same spot where his hand once was, making the one who got his wince “It’s pretty obvious, you stare at her a lot. And you’re able to talk to her calmly.”
Yeah, his Hyung was very oblivious.
“Oh uhm, yeah, sure-“ Niki scratched the back of his head, laughing nervously as his Hyung teased him with ‘ oohs’.
For sure, don’t get him wrong, Jungwon is pretty. Since he’s met her, like a few hours ago, he did notice her. But, that’s because he always takes in details about people when he first meets them.
For example, Sunghoon always picks at his fingers when he’s bored, he picked that up during a meeting. Jay has a habit of cutting all of his food before actually eating them, he experienced that the first time they had lunch together. Jake always taps his pencil against everything when he’s thinking about something, something he went through awfully when they were trying to study. Heeseung liked to caress the back of people’s necks when he was talking, he found that out in a comforting big brother kind of way.
And as for Jungwon, he actually noticed that Jungwon liked to cover her face a lot with her hands. Something he picked up with just a few hours of knowing her. He didn’t know exactly why, but he guessed it was just a natural reaction of hers. But who knows, she was pretty easy to talk to anyway, the three sentences they exchanged with each other were actually kind of chill.
Unlike the unstoppable mouth machine named Taki, Jungwon knew when to limit herself when it looked like Niki wasn’t in the mood to socialize.
But to be honest, who knows, it’s only been a day, his radar could be totally wrong on what kind of person Jungwon really was.
And for Sunoo. He noticed that she smiles a lot. At everyone. Especially at people she didn’t even know. Just like him. Even though he hadn’t had the courage to talk to her in full and complete sentences, she still smiled at him like she’s actually glad to see him. With her rosy cheeks and her kind eye smiles, Niki could feel his heart shake just thinking about it, his face starting to heat up once again.
There’s no way he’s wrong about her, she had to be an Angel sent from above, and nothing less.
“Woah, really? I knew it.” Heeseung smiled widely with his perfect teeth, taking a glance back at the other two “In all honesty, she seems like the type of person to be perfect for you. You both radiate the same energy.”
“The same, how?”
“Hm? Well, Jungwon seems to be more calm, and you’re also pretty calm, so I'm guessing you two together would seem like a good fit. You’d connect with your personality.” Heeseung said honestly, his arms wrapping over his chest, his eyes not leaving the arguing friends “but, she seems to be confident too, sometimes. So I guess it’d be more like an add on.”
Oh, if Heeseung would only know about his younger self. The one who would stand and dance on his school desk and would gain a crowd of kids around the school to have a friendly soccer game.
Where’d that Niki go? He had no idea.
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“So your plan was to give Sunoo your Jersey huh?”
“Huh, wait- oh god, no, no.” Niki tried to save himself again, but his ears said no to him, turning pink almost immediately. Hopefully his Hyung wouldn’t even notice it, or else it'll haunt him forever.
“Mhm, sure. Like you didn’t pick out your jersey from the pile and-“
“Ah- Sunoo Noona!” Niki panicked and walked away from Heeseung, he grabbed the clothes from the table and faced the girl.
Sunoo turned around to the taller, stopping the argument with Jungwon, the one that kind of went out of hand, for no kind of reason. It escalated too quickly, from a tracksuit all the way to the time Sunoo left Jungwon in a Flea Market.
“Hm? Oh, yeah?” Sunoo responded, tilting her head slightly, raising a brow to ask what the boy was calling her for.
“You should change into these clothes- uhm, I need those for- practice… next week…”

“Is that better, your highness?”Jungwon snickered as they walked out the school building.
The sun was not almost setting, turning orange in the horizon, and the school was somewhat empty. Now all that was left were some kids hanging out, spread out as they laughed about whatever kind of shit they went through that day.
“Yeah, of course it’s better!” Sunoo stuck her tongue out at her. In fact, it was better than the fact that she was freezing, it suited her more than that horrific. Unlike the physical uniform here, the middle school’s color theme was grey and white, and unlike the other one, this one felt more nostalgic somehow.
Not to mention, her burn could now breathe. Thankfully, it wasn't that serious, yes it hurt, but it wasn’t as bad as those times in the kitchen. Back home she didn’t have this cream to soothe the pain, so this burn treated her better than most times.
If her mother were here, she’d tell her to run it under cold water and get back to work. But the tinted red color from the burn was almost gone by now, all the was left was a soft pink shade and a little stings here and there. But other than that, she was fine- she’s had it worse.
Besides, her hair matched the fit, something deeply important to her. Even though it was a basic T Shirt and shorts, it wasn’t as suffocating as the- you know what.
However, with winter slowly coming, it was kind of cold. Freezing, even. Not to exaggerate but she felt shivers each time she moved (she is exaggerating).
Who would’ve known it was cold during the near fall and beginning of winter.
“I knew it.” Jungwon stopped on the steps, her hand pointing at Sunoo while the other held a strap from her backpack. Her eyes squinted at her, and her lips puckered as if she found something out.
“What.” Sunoo stopped to, a few steps below her, she had to look up a little to make eye contact.
“You’re cold!” Jungwon exclaimed, catching Sunoo when she shivered a bit, feeling some cold air pass by them. A shiver she’d know anywhere for a single reason and one reason only. She doesn’t know who Sunoo was trying to fool, but her best friend was not going to fall for her tricks.
“I’m- I’m warm, what are you talking about.” Sunoo tried to cover herself up, turning back around to walk down the rest of the school’s steps. Her cheeks puffed up a bit from the lie, a bit mad that Jungwon knows her a little too well.
“Liar, You’re always cold!”
Was she wrong? No she wasn’t. She’s that type of person to wear multiple jackets if it was a trip to the corner store, and that type to ask the teacher to turn on the heating until it’s boiling because it’s windy outside. She’s also the one you have to go for if you need a heat pack. But in all honesty, who loves the cold! If you do, you’re completely I saw if you were- she only dreads when the snow starts falling. She loves snow to death, but with her Costco jackets, she will never take a step outside the warmth of her house.
“Am not.”
“Are too!”
“Not.”
“Too!”
“No!”
“Uh-huh!”
“You’re not fooling me, Kim Sunoo!” Jungwon jumped the last few steps to catch up with her, running towards her to stand in from t of her and stop her firing on. She put her finger on her face again, punting to her nose, as he eyes squinted again.
“What is there to fool!” Sunoo stood in shock, she was missing the complete point- she didn’t even know she was being interrogated by her best friend in the front of the building. Hell, she didn’t even know where she was trying to get to with this conversation, it was merely pointless.
Yes it’s cold! Jungwon, offer her your Jacket already!
“You can’t fool me, Kim! I’m a detective!” Jungwon said with all confidence “I know what you’re up to!”
“What am I up to?” Sunoo genuinely asked with the most confused face ever. She’s just trying to get home relaxed and watch dramas with her Pjs on. Why is this happening to her here! Now!?
“Admit it!”
“Admit what? What are you talking about.”
“The reason why you didn’t want to wear the tracksuit! I know your games-“
“The reason. Why didn't I want to wear it? Won, you’re still going on about that?”
“Yes! You never refuse a kind act and you did! And there was a reason!”
“The reason was because I didn’t like the clothes! It’s not my style at all…”
“That can’t be the reason, you've worn a suit jacket over a blue dress before, against your will, so there’s no reason why you wouldn’t want to wear it.“
Sunoo was found dumbfounded. Her mind couldn’t process what Jungwon was trying to prove. There was no point in proving anything. She just didn’t like the style of clothing, as she said before, her clothes are a bit sacred to her, so wearing something she didn’t like didn’t specifically mean something.
“You like Heeseung!”
What. The. Fuck. Is. This. Girl. On.
“What the fuck are you on?” Sunoo responded to her friend's unbelievable statement. She’s never even thought a single thought close to that kind of statement.
“It makes sense. You didn’t come out the closet because you didn’t want to. Him to see you in those clothes- point proven, because you don’t like looking bad in front of the person you like.” Jungwon gave her a smug smile, crossing her arms over her chest like a superhero, proud of herself for solving the case. Maybe she was like Sherlock in some ways.
“I don't like Heeseung. He’s like a friend, or like a strange older brother. Just because I became comfortable with him, doesn’t mean I like him.” Sunoo stuck her tongue at her, mockingly, jokingly, and patted her head “I just have to be more careful around them, especially because they're rich.”
“Nope, you totally like him, I can tell.” Jungwon shooed away her hand “Why would you even have to be careful around them because they’re wealthy. They aren’t zombies, they won’t bite you or anything-“
Sunoo raised a brow at Jungwon.
“That one time I but you doesn’t count! You said I could do what I did!” Jungwon saved herself on that one.
“Sure sure whatever~” Sunoo trailed off her sentence, starting to walk again towards the main entrance of the school “Jungwon, did you forget?”
“Did I forget what?“
“Where I am from.”
“You’re from Suwon.”
“No, Jungwon!” Sunoo whined “I’m not wealthy like you guys!”
“Is that why- this isn’t the 1800s, Sunoo, they won’t care what class you’re from!” Jungwon frowned, her eyebrows showing the expressions itself.
“That’s what you think! I know it doesn’t seem all that big to you, but for me it does.”
“That’s bull, they won’t treat you any differently.”
“Uh huh. You wouldn’t understand, you’re not the one on a single scholarship in an all rich girl high school. The only one with a scholarship, mind you.”
“Still though-“
“I can't let them find out” She sighed, clicking her tongue and turning her head to look at Jungwon “That’s why you can’t let them find out either.”
“Why-“
“Because I’m asking my best friend!” Sunoo laughed as she jumped up, hugging her friend midair to hold onto her neck, almost toppling down with the girl in her arms.
“Ah! Sunoo, get off of me!”
“Get your hands off her!”
A man came rushing towards them, in an all black suit and an earpiece in his ear. He was tall and muscular, and his face was covered from his big sunglasses, which made him even more mysterious and creepy looking.
The two scrambled on their feet, standing up so quickly it wouldn’t be unbelievable that they ran away afterwards. But for some reason, their shoes glued to the floor. Like that one woman with the gorilla glue who once said, my feet, they don’t move.
“Oh- we were just playing-“
“You two are too close to our young master, and we are in suspicion you’re planning malicious intent.” Another set of two other guys, similar look, all different hairstyles, came from behind the first guy “We’ve been watching you guys come towards our perimeter, you out of all should know getting close to our young…”
These guys…
What kind fucking bullshit are they on Sunoo thought to herself. Did they think they were that badass, they’re in a high school for duck sakes. What program did they think they were on, what even are they some kind of security guards.
She thought those only existed in that one animatronic game or in dramas. That must’ve meant that floss is real too.
“Ah, we didn’t know, we apologize.” Jungwon smiled kindly at the men, her eyes still shaken up by them. Who wouldn’t be, these guys look like they step on ants for fun.
“Hyungs, I don’t need you to do this for me.”
“But young master-“
“I know what my dad said… have I ever listened to him?” Heeseung sighed as he came out from behind, his pack swinging behind him from one arm.
“No, young master.” One of the biggest men answered, his head faced down in apology.
“Exactly, So please go home in the car, I’m staying for a while.” Heeseung responded, walking behind the girls and waving with one hand to the men. By the looks of it, Heeseung seemed a bit annoyed by the men.
“But, young master-“
“My name is Heeseung.”
“Mr.Lee. Your fathers instructions were to keep you safe from any type of danger! These girls-“
“What are they going to do? They’re my friends?” The tall boy raised a brow, crossing his arms over his chest “Besides, they won’t be able to fight me, look- Sunoo, Punch my arm.”
“Here?” Sunoo turned to look at him with a questioned look, her eyes turning to him and then at the three big guys. She was going to get killed if she laid a hand on him, these guys look like they were out looking for blood.
Holy shit! They were Heeseung’s bodyguards!
“Yeah, here. Don’t worry, it won’t even hurt.” Heeseung reassured, lowering his shoulder a bit so he could level with her. His muscles were made out of steel, how bad could it actually hurt.
“No!”
“Cmon, just a punch! I promise you won’t hurt me!”
“No, you’re going to get hurt!”
“Cmon Sunoo! It won’t be that bad!”
“I Don’t think this is a good idea.”
“It’ll be fine! Show my hyungs, so they could leave me alone.”
Sunoo sighed, looking at the guys one more time. They seemed to seem more at ease, maybe they wouldn't attack her if she were to punch the boy. They probably got calm after seeing them argue.
She dropped her backpack next to Jungwon for her to take care of it, warming up her right hand by shaking it a bit to gain power. She’s seen some pros do it, so she will too. Her wrist would crack each time she’d circle them, so did her knuckles.
“Are you sure?” Sunoo whined, her arm was not pulled back, in fighting positions. She honestly felt kind of bad being put in this position. If only he knew.
“Yeah, I’m sure, go for it!”
“No but are you, really sure!” Jungwon popped into the conversation, her face wore a bit of a worried look. She feared for what situation they were both putting themselves in.
“Yeah, don’t worry about it, don’t go easy-“
And just then, did Sunoo take a step forward while launching her arms towards his shoulder.
It all happened comedically quickly, but for short, it was a whole bunch of pain that rained down on the poor boy. Her fist landed on his shoulder hard, he felt himself stumble from his position. A large stinging pain ran from his shoulder to the rest of his upper half. He swore he could fell where each knuckle was placed from the depth they felt like they were on.
He felt his bones shake in his own body.
You know that feeling when you hit the back of your ankle with a scooter? It was worse than that! Have you ever stubbed the toe against a metal bed frame? Yup, even worse than that! Have you ever been heartbroken by a girl you met at a business party when you were 14, who you spilled all of your darkest secrets to and still haven’t gotten over to till this day? Yes sir, it’s even worse than that.
It was a pain tolerated, but it still sting after a few seconds. It’s what he felt a Dragon Ball Z punch would feel like. Or how a punch from the rock would feel like. Completely bone shattering!
How- How was she so strong!
“Young master! Are you okay!” The three said at the same time when they saw Heeseung’s shocked face. They were all in a fast stance, if he really were hurt they’d all run towards him so quickly. Like sonic fast.
“Huh! Ye-Yeah I’m fine!” Heeseung’s voice cracked a little as he stood up staringt now, trying to look casual as he glanced a hand on his shoulder to contain his pain, and but his lip from preventing the lip quivering.
Who was this girl.
“Are you sure, young ma-Heeseung.” One of them corrected himself. Surprisingly, it seemed like they were about to fall for their evil scheme. Well, Heeseung's scheme, which Jungwon and Sunoo are helping him do… somewhat.
“Yeah- yup, I’m fine.” Heeseung smiled through the pain with his perfect teeth. Smile through the pain, what his mother said when she married his father. In fact, he was not fine. He could feel his muscle go sore from the punch, and a bruise started to form. What kind of idiot was he! Why would he tell Sunoo to do it? She was probably waiting for this chance to hit him.
Or hit on him. Jokes. Was he joking? Who knows.
“Yeah?” The other one still looked worried but he kept his calm. Holy shit, they were believing it.
“Yeah, totally, you guys should take the test of the day off- I won’t tell my dad.” He said through his teeth where he felt the second wave of pain run through his muscle.
“Woah, His arm is pretty strong, no wonder I did barely anything.” Sunoo played along, hitting the spot again and trying to laugh when he winced and glared at her, turning to look at Won “Hey, Jungwon you should try.”
“But i-“
“Try his other arm.” Sunoo pointed to the other shoulder, “That will prove that we’re not at all dangerous at all.”
“Yeah, that’ll be fine.” Heeseung tried to shake off the feeling when Sunoo hit him. How hard could Jungwon ever hit? It couldn’t be that bad, right?” He would lie if he said he wasn’t sweating at the moment.
“Okay, I’ll hit your arm.”
“Okay, go for it.”
“I’ll really punch it!”
“Okay I’m waiting.”
“I’m really going to do it!”
“Yeah, go ahead-“
“Really?”
“Yeah, do it-”
If he thought Sunoo punched hard, Jungwon did it even harder. In fact, she looked like she had more of a technique than Sunoo did. She pulled her arm back, and when she went for the punch, she took a step forward for momentum. Where the hell did they come from, some kind of super school- what do they eat to gain this shit. He’s sure his humerus had been shattered to pieces if it wasn’t already.
“Oh, that did feel nice!” Jungwon smiled when Heeseung smiled in pain, shaking her hand to get rid of the tickled pain in her knuckles. She’d do it again if she weren’t afraid of bruising his arm anymore.
“See, hyungs, They’re harmless.” The last word was a bit hard coming out of hi smouth, trying not to stutter from the burning of his skin. He fucked up big time, he thought he was just trying to be funny.
He’s definitely going to be made fun of later if his family finds out. What would be even worse if is his sister finds out first.
“Completely, you don’t have to worry about him with us around!” Sunoo smiled brightly, putting an arm around the taller one, making sure not to press against the place they hit him in. Being experienced, she knows a fresh punch from a 9th degree Black belt master hurts like hell. Trust her, she knows, She’s best friends with Yang Jungwon.
“Yup, yup, yup, you guys should leave now,” Heeseung nodded his head “My dad should be waiting for you,or something.”
“Okay, whatever you say, Heeseung.”
And like that, they just got into the nice ass car and drove off to the distance. Good for them though, they actually looked excited to take the red t of the day off- it honestly must’ve felt nice to win once in a while. Sunoo knows what it’s like, it’s the small things.
The three waited until the was at a safe distance, and until ti the car turned to a completely different street. All the way until they saw the black trunk make a turn at the thirds street down, that was until all was unleashed.
“Ow.” Was the only thing that came out of the boy’s mouth, falling to his knees in desperation of his arm, holding his hand against his skin. He was so dramatic, even for a rich boy. It’s not like he was faking it either, he was just exaggerating the pain.
“Get over it.” Sunoo stuck out her tongue, watching as the boy held himself tight.
“You asked for it!” Jungwon shrugged.
He really did. And now he really did regret it.
“How do you hit so hard-“
“I’m a black belt in Taewondo, obviously I know how to hit.” Jungwon stuck out her tongue, linking her arms with Sunoo.
“Yeah, I have one in Hapkido.” Sunoo said, putting her arm in the air to intimidate one of her more famous moves. The Sunoo Block. Well, not really famous but it was iconic to her.
“You two…” The oldest one laughed, arm still at his side, holding the pain “Are more unusual than I thought.”
“Right back at you Heeseung, Right back at you.”
