TommyInnit's Guide To Childhood Trauma

Chapter 3: Trauma is back and worse

Chapter Text

Tommy spun around and jumped back on his feet after hearing the man's voice. His body ached as he tried to look as threatening as possible. He held one hand open as if ready to attack at any moment but Tommy knew he couldn’t make a vine strong enough to give him time to escape, not in the state he was in now at least. “Relax, I’m not going to hurt you,” Blade raised his arms up showing he was holding no weapon. Tommy looked around for an escape while keeping the villain in view, when he found nothing he looked back at the villain.

Tommy glared at Blade, trying to appear as threatening as possible, but as his body shook it was hard to convince even himself that he was looking threatening to anyone. “I just want to talk,” Blade didn’t drop his hands down or move from where he was standing, he only stared at Tommy with what he would describe as pity. Tommy began to sign, “what do you want,” before remembering the Blade showing no signs that he actually did know sign language during their fight.

To Tommy’s surprise, the Blade did know sign language, “I know sign language don’t worry,” the Blade signed taking a step forward. Tommy was shocked at first but after realizing Blade moved forward he took a step back, stopping when he felt his foot was on the edge. Tommy glared at the Blade trying to get him to step back but he was only met with the same look of pity. “What do you want,” Tommy signed as he side-stepped across the ledge trying to create as much space as possible between him and the Blade.

“I just came to talk,” Blade signed taking a couple more steps so that he was in front of Tommy again. Tommy stopped walking when he met the corner edge, he raised his eyebrow staring at him for a moment before replying, “Do you really expect me to believe that one of the top three villains just wants to talk to me,” Tommy scoffed at the man eyeing him of any further movement. “Not really but there's a reason I let you go when we first met,” the Blade signed luckily for Tommy staying put, but before Tommy could sign back Blade spoke up. “If I was going to do something to you I would have done it then.”

Don’t Trust him
Get Tubbo
Emergency button
Panic Panic Panic
Chat yelled making Tommy’s headache increase.

Tommy slowly moved his left-hand back, pinching the rim of his jacket and letting out a small click sound. A message should be sent to Tubbo and since he was out on patrol it was only a matter of time until he replied. Tommy did want help from Tubbo but he also knew he was going to be in deep trouble once they were at home, just thinking about it made Tommy's headache worse. The Blade noticed Tommy zone out so he took another couple of steps toward him, once Tommy noticed what he was doing he glared and raised his arm a little as if he was going to attack, which luckily made Blade stop walking.

A static noise cut off the music to his earbuds and Tubbos voice echoed in Tommy's left ear. “Lucid what the fuck are you doing out right now,” Tubbos voice was only loud enough to be heard by Tommy but he didn't want to risk the Blade hearing him so walked along the ledge until he was a little farther from him. “I just want to talk to you I promise,” Blade spoke unknowing to Tubbo listening in, “Oh shit is that who I think it is” Tommy could hear panting and footsteps letting him know Tubbo was on his way.

“I don’t care for what you have to say, just leave me alone” Tommy signed, Blade hasn’t been proving to be much of a threat right now but if he is lying he would much rather not have Tubbo fight one of the top three villains by himself because Tommy can’t pull his weight right now. And if it were really true that Blade wasn’t going to hurt him maybe he could get him to leave. “I just need to ask you something then I’ll go,” Tommy thought for a moment, he was getting tired of dealing with the villain and his knees felt they would give out any second, “Okay.”

Blade's eyes widened surprised that Tommy actually agreed, “Right, so remember our fight,” Tommy just raised his eyebrow waiting for Blade to continue. “When I use my powers on you your body turns to gold but when the gold reaches your head I’m able to look into your thoughts or memories,” Tommy felt a chill go down his spine when remembering the people he saw when getting turned to gold. “When I saw those people I was wondering who they are, if you’re still with them or if you need help.” Tommy couldn’t believe what he was hearing, what he saw weren’t memories, were they?

No, they were just images the Blade put in his head to get the upper hand he had no idea who those strangers were. It’s an obvious trick to make Tommy lower his guard, the Blade wasn’t worried he just wanted to put Tommy into a false sense of security and then kill him, the Blade was not the one to leave a job unfinished. When Tommy picked up his head to look the Blade in the eyes he thought he was going to be met with a sly smile and a sword in his hand but instead he was met with the same expression as before, it was as if the villain was looking at a hurt puppy and not the same vigilantes he was gonna murder in a dingy warehouse alley.

“Please let me help you,” Blade started walking toward Tommy but he couldn’t move, frozen in fear, no he was shocked. Surely if the blade was lying he would have killed him by now, but Blade keeps looking at him with no ill intent, only a warm smile and pity in his eyes. Tommy knows the stories of the Blade, and how merciless he is because no stories have ever come from the survivors who have met him but instead from passersby of SBI’s fights, and that’s because anyone who crosses him doesn’t survive long enough to tell the story.

Tommy watched unable to move as the Blade made his way to him. The Blade only got a few yards away from Tommy before his attention was brought to the beeping sound on his right. The blade snapped his head to the right eyes widening when seeing a round object fast approaching him. Blade jumped back just in time for the object to pass right in front of his face before the object began to beep faster and then exploded into small pieces leaving only a black cloud in its remains.
The explosion was more than enough to get Tommy to snap out of his daze and turn toward the way the bomb came from already knowing who was going to be there. “Watch yourself Blade, don’t come any closer,” Tubbo stood calmly but if you would look in his hand you would see multiple small metal spheres with a glowing red antenna sticking out from the top. Tubbo wasn’t prepared to charge because he knew he wouldn’t stand a chance in hand-to-hand combat with the Blade instead he was ready to throw a bomb at any second if the Blade decided to charge. Although the bombs were small so they wouldn’t kill the Blade more injure or slow him down, that’s all Tubbo needed he just wants Tommy and him out of there as quick as possible.

Yay Tubbo’s here
Uh oh are we in trouble
Not the time we have to go
RUN

The Blade eyed Tubbo for a bit before looking back to Tommy. Tommy noticed the Blades' eyes on him and walked toward Tubbos's side making sure to keep the villain in his sights. When Tommy made it to Tubbos side Tubbo side-stepped in front of him Tommy didn’t say anything he knew right now he was the weaker of the two and couldn’t fight without getting in the other way. The best bet for the vigilantes was to create a diversion to throw the blade off their tracks. Tommy looked over Tubbos shoulder to see Blade still looking at him, Tommy looked over to Tubbo trying to avoid Blade's stare. When Tommy looked at Tubbo he could tell he was pissed partially at Tommy but more at the Blade.

Tommy watched as Tubbo death gripped the bombs in his hands ready to throw them without hesitation. “If you thought I’d let you come back and finish the job you better be ready to lose a limb or two,” Tubbo tilted his head taunting the villain and raised his hand in warning. Tommy watched as the Blade-eyed Tubbo, Blade examined him which made Tubbo shiver but Tommy was the only one close enough to notice, he eyed him up and down stopping for a moment at the bombs in Tubbos hands before looking to his left. Blade sighed which made the boys jump slightly which goes unnoticed by the villain. “Relax I’m not going to hurt you two,” Blade looked back toward the vigilantes making no movement from his spot.

Tubbo tsked, “Yeah right, why would a villain show mercy,” Tubbo took a step back against Tommy thinking about throwing a bomb and making a break for it. “I just want to talk I promise,” Blade raised his hands the same way he did before still unmoving from his spot. Tubbo looked around for anything he could use to escape knowing Tommy wouldn't make it long on foot if they tried to run so instead he was going to try and stall long enough for backup to arrive. Tubbo looked back at the Blade, “What do you want.” Blade raised his eyebrow surprised that he agreed but let out a sigh in relief.

Tommy pulled on Tubbos sleeve to get the other boys' attention before whispering low enough for the Blade not to hear, “I don’t want to talk about this,” Tubbo raised his eyebrow in confusion but didn't argue with the boy, “On second thought I don’t care just tell me what you want with Lucid,” Tommy sighed in relief and watched as Blade lowered his hands. “I just wanted to talk to Lucid about what I saw yesterday,” Tubbo noticed when Tommy flinched, so he tried his best to change the subject but also get information on why he was here, “We’ll he doesn’t want to talk to you so why not you just leave,” Blade looked over to Tommy considering the option before looking back toward Tubbo, “I just need to have a word,” before Tubbo could argue back a lawn chair that was by the rooftop entrance door was now coming straight for Blade. Unlike last time with Tubbos bombs, there was no warning for the approaching object so Blade had little to no time to react and since most of his focus was on the two vigilantes in front of him he wasn’t able to dodge quick enough.

HA
Oh shit he got hit
Was it Ranboo?
RANBOO

Blade quickly recovered to look around for who threw the chair. He turned back when he heard a loud vwoop sound. To his surprise, there was a lanky enderman hybrid covered in purple particles. Blade eyed him for a moment before sheathing his sword and charging Ranboo, Ranboo lifted the chair from where it was and threw it at Blade again, although he was ready this time so the chair was easily thrown aside before Blade took his charge toward Ranboo again. Ranboo was quick to realize he was not winning this battle so with another vwoop sound he teleported away from where the Blade struck down his sword and reappeared behind Tubbo and Tommy. Blade quickly looked over to the vigilantes and saw Ranboo, he charged toward the group but Ranboo quickly teleported them away.

When the group of vigilantes reappeared they landed on a couch before bouncing off toward the floor. They landed with a thud before they all groaned in pain, Ranboo was the first to sit up, “Are you guys ok,” all Ranboo got was groans before the other two sat up, Tubbo got up to sit on the couch Ranboo then following, Tommy sat still for a moment before pushing himself onto the couch, it was silent for a moment the only sound being heavy breathing coming from all three boys before Tubbo broke the silence, “Are you gonna tell us why you were on patrol.”

Tommy fiddled with his hands thinking about what to say, he couldn’t tell Tubbo he left because he was bored he isn’t dumb enough to fall for that lie, but Tommy doesn’t think he could stomach talking about those things he saw in his head. Tubbo looked at Tommy waiting for an answer and Ranboo just looked back and forth between the two not knowing what was going on. Tommy sat in silence for a moment trying to muster the courage to speak up without his breathing picking up pace.

Tommy tried to speak but when flashes of strangers flashed in his head he went into a coughing fit. He knelled to the ground covering his mouth as gold liquid leaked over his hand. “Tommy! Hey, what’s wrong,” Tubbo kneeled down in front of Tommy grabbing his shoulders to help him stay calm. “What’s wrong,” Ranboo walked over to Tommy’s right side and knelled he then place his hand on Tommy’s head, Tommy leaned in the touch and calmed down slowly. Apart from Ranboos telekinesis powers he also has the ability to relax anyone by touch, “There you go just breath,” Tommy listened and let his breathing calm down.

When Tommy came back to his senses he looked up to see Tubbo kneeling back down with napkins, he handed them to Tommy who took them to clean his mouth and then wipe his hands, he nodded still unable to speak, “Let's not try talking for now but it’s late how about we go to bed,” Tommy nodded to Tubbo who helped him stand up with Ranboo right behind him taking his place on the opposite side of Tommy letting him lean against him to walk. They all stayed silent as they walked toward their bedroom, Tubbo leaned Tommy inside the room and sat him on the bed. Tommy watched as Ranboo made his way over to the drawers and looked through some of them.

Once holding a few parts of clothing he made his way back to Tommy and laid them next to him. “Do you want anything to eat before you sleep,” Tubbo smiled at Tommy waiting for his answer, Tommy thought for a moment thinking if he could really stomach anything before nodding anyway since he lost his morning breakfast, “Alright then I’ll make something quick,” Tubbo walked out turning to smile to Tommy before leaving. Ranboo looked between Tubbo and Tommy quickly before sticking to Tommy, “I should probably make sure we still have a kitchen when he’s done, but will you be fine by yourself.” Tommy looked up to Ranboo smiling as he nodded, Ranboo smiled in return then turned and left to go check on Tubbo.

Tommy turned away from the door and started grabbing the clothes to change. Starting with his shirt, still dazed to comprehend the pain his muscles were in. Once he was finished changing was when he finally felt the pain he was in. All the adrenaline finally was out of his system and now he was left alone, in pain and with his thoughts. “What the fuck is going on,” Tommy mumbled, flashbacks of the encounter with the Blade coming back to his head, “Were those things I saw actually memories?” Tommy flopped down staring at the ceiling, “No they can’t be, he’s a villain it’s obviously a lie.”

He’s a villain of course he’s lying
BLADE BAD
He’s definitely lying
He would lie

“But he has no reason to lie for this long, and if he was he should have finished me off already,” Tommy thought knowing the Blade was never one to keep his victims alive for longer than needed, “And I don’t think one of the top three villains would find any use in some random vigilante who had happened to intervene,” Tommy thought to himself as he pushed himself up to the pillow with his foot. “But if that really was a memory who were those people and why can’t I remember them,” Tommy sighed all this thinking giving him a headache.

“But why would the Blade want to help me, he’s a villain,” Tommy squinted, as his head started to pound, “This is all too confusing,” Tommy groaned, “You alright,” Ranboo said as he walked in with Tubbo following close behind him holding a bowl of soup. “Mhm,” Tommy hummed. “Well, I hope you’re still hungry for some soup,” Tubbo chimed in. Ranboo walked to Tommy, slid his arm under his shoulders and helped push him up, Tommy smiled too tired to sign thank you.

Ranboo slid on the left side of Tommy thenTubbo handed him the bowl of soup. Before Tubbo sat down he grabbed the extra blanket on the edge of the bed and then sat next to Tommy’s side. Ranboo handed the bowl to Tommy as Tubbo wrapped himself with the blanket, once he wrapped his shoulder he handed the other end to Ranboo to do the same. Once Ranboo wrapped himself both boys scooted closer to Tommy starting idle chatter as he ate, including him in every now and then, “Is the soup good,” Tubbo asked, Tommy, nodded.

“See Ranboo and I didn't even burn the kitchen down,” Tubbo smiled raising his head slightly, “Yeah because I helped you,” Ranboo said smirking. Tubbo and Ranboo bickered for a bit before changing the subject, Tommy smiled as they talked enjoying the calm atmosphere after a very stressful day, “Whatever the Blade showed me doesn’t matter” Tommy thought, “As a matter of fact I don’t want to know what it was, what I have now is more than enough to remember than some strangers.”
