Chapter 7: Update!!

Hi everyone!

This is Erin, the author of Crystal Clear. It's only been like. 2 years or something right? Well, this is an update to say that I want to come back to working on this story!! I know that the Spinel hype might have passed, but fuck it. I'm still really proud of the work and research that went into this, and I'd like to see it finished. I still have my story notes! So long as I can decipher them, we should be in business.

That being said though, I probably wont start from where I left off. Instead, I'll probably start over, revamping the story entirely, and going through to make each chapter fit better with my current writing style and knowledge. Looking back at the story, there's a lot of good in it!! But there's also a lot that I would change and improve as I went. Particularly in the pacing, and such. So!! I'd really like to come back to it!!I don't know how soon, but I will say that it'll be entering my NaNoWriMo rotation. I've never participated in NaNoWriMo, but given that I finished another fanfic (cough cough Special Little Starfire cough cough) in about a month and seeing that completed with 65,000 words!! I want to give it a shot. I'm not going to force myself to do an entire novel start to finish, but instead focus on consistent writing across several projects that I have in the works right now. This is one that I want to revisit!! I still absolutely adore spinel, and I think about this story a whole hell of a lot.

So!! I'm happy to announce that we are (tenatively) off hiatus!! I'm really excited to come back to these characters, and this world. I'll be making an all new playlist with era appropriate music (in addition to just. things I like to listen to while I write.)

Especially since November is going to be a really anxious month for me, (I'm hearing about grad school!!) I want to keep my focus on things that make me happy, and this very much makes me happy.

So!! The next chapter might be out closer to NNWM, but regardless, this will be seeing a revival. Let me know if you would prefer that I update this story, or if I should post it individually as "Crystal Clear V2," and leave the original accessible if people are interested in it. With all of that being said, I am very happy to announce-

Notes:

PROLOUGE DONE. Finally, only took 6000 years, huh? Well, I did want to talk a bit about my inspiration, which was the relationship between Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. The two took the silver screen multiple times, in multiple films as love interests, but actually hated each other behind the scenes, for various reasons. They never had an off-screen relationship, but that part doesn't extend to this story. If you're looking for my direct inspiration, look up their shots from "Swing Time!"

I'll update this probably weekly, but I am abroad in Japan for school right now, so my schedule is WHACK.
