Chapter 2: i want to learn

Chapter Text

"Addams, care to pass me that?"

"Which one?"

"The red one, please!"

Wednesday let out a sigh for the first time in awhile, she leaned towards her bed from her wooden chair - taking into her hands, a small cylindrical container with a red ribbon tied around the cap. It had carved initials read as 'E. S.'

Enid beamed at her with a toothy smile, the girl had been nothing but happy, loud and clingy. In her words, a nuisance. Or was it?

She gave her the usual look that expressed no other emotion aside from irritation or distaste to what the girl says or does towards her, and she goes on to walk over to the blonde - lightly placing the container onto the table. There was a pink mug with.. a face of a korean woman on it as a design, that is certainly new.

And quite odd to say the least, why would one want a picture of someone else in a thing that you drink out of?

Notably enough, Enid has been ordering non-stop from online shops - adding more to the vacant space to her side of the room. Things such as new pillows, stuffed animals - are those headphones?

Wednesday also noticed that she picked out the ones that varied in color, ones that make her want to gouge her eyes out. Eyes that weren't used to seeing that much of something, either way, she disliked it in every way possible.

Their shared room was beginning to look like a rainbow had tripped and vomitted on them.

She took care of the window, half of it now devoid of color. Her own side feels the same, like home. Where it is depressing, desolate, and monochrome. The way she likes it.

"Thank you."

Enid looked up to her from her bed, startling Wednesday for a moment - simply because she noticed how blue the blonde's eyes were. The last time they held eye contact, she only saw a glimpse of pale blue - now it's in a different light, like she was a different person.

It was not the first time that they shared a glance or two, as Wednesday herself was avoiding occurances such as that ever since the first one.

The one when she felt like someone had a fireworks display next to her head, making her feel like she needs to claw her head off from the intensity.

This time it was duller, didn't hold the same effect as the ones before them. The girl was grateful for that, unfortunately.

They blink simultaneously.

"You.. good there, Wednesday?" Enid was the first to speak, albeit a bit concerned due to Wednesday's staring (that she observed to be lingering more than usual).

"Yes." Eyes slightly widening upon realization, she decided to brush it off and break their eye contact to walk back to her table. Her heart rung in her ribcage faster than it ever had before, she could feel her ears reddening -

And it was gone. As fast as it came.

She refuses to acknowledge it, and she will not let the fact that Enid Sinclair is her soulmate bother her to the point of reacting to the insistent and invisible 'bond of fate' that was laid out right there. Wednesday knew it the moment she stepped foot in the room, she presumes that Enid knows as well.

"AAHHHH!!"

Out of pure bodily instinct, Wednesday unsheathed the knife hidden in her shoe - stood up with enough force to accidentally knock her chair down and faced Enid with an alarmed look.

Only to see that the blonde was in front of her laptop, hands shaking and it looks like she was.. smiling.

Wednesday's mood drops drastically.

Enid decides to look at her, smiling ear to ear.

And the smile falls.

"OH MY GODS- why do you have a knife!?"

"I heard you scream."

"I was - wait, was I screaming? I am so sorry about that, um-"

"Need not to explain yourself, just never do it again. Or I'll cut your tounge off for bothering me with such horrid noise."

"Okay.. ow." Enid looked slightly hurt with the comment but went back up with a smile.

"I got tickets."

Wednesday raised a brow, not looking at her - this time she had fixed her fallen chair and posture. Heeding away any unecessary distractions would be good, but Enid was.. another thing.

"For?"

"BLACKPINK's virtual concert of course!"

"..is that the one with four memb-"

"YES!! You know how hard it is to even get onto the queue! I'm so glad that my parents reserved me money for this!"

Wednesday's eye twitched. She did not like getting interrupted, nor does she enjoy having Enid being jumpy and being louder than usual regarding her interests.

"I do not see the situation to be something.. you ought to scream about, but I do wonder - why must you pay to see people having to dance and sing in a device as little as that laptop of yours?"

"Oh! Um, well we could set it up on a TV but I don't think that's allowed so-"

Enid didn't miss the point, but she didn't want to look like a fool. When it comes to things she likes, she can be very passionate and a bit annoying about them - Wednesday had noted that about her roommate's behaviour.

"Do you not wish to see it on - what is it that you call it again? LIVE?"

"I would, but.. I'm kind of off-limits around large crowds of humans at the moment." She admits, embarassed about the fact that she was sort-of sent to Nevermore as a form of 'time-out' with the outside world.

She would be putting herself on risk if she ever got too emotional or excited during a LIVE concert, because her claws tend to pop out during those moments of happiness.

Exhilarated, she would be.

"Hmn." Wednesday looked a bit cryptic when she responded, eyes glazed over as she started thinking. She could always buy them the necessary things for seeing a concert LIVE, but Enid's problem was personal - and she could not guarantee that the blonde wouldn't suddenly burst out into a fit of laughter with her sharp and dangerous claws out.

Even if they looked aesthetically pleasing with such colors, it could poke out someone's eye.

"When will this concert take place?"

"November 24, why?"

"Nothing that should concern you, continue your nightly activities now, Sinclair."

Enid was confused, Wednesday was plotting something.

And Thing is trying to smash a bee that was buzzing near the window, what could that be?
