Bad clicked open a can of soup, pouring it slowly into the large pot.
He'd settled down in the cave roughly two hours ago, Rat fast asleep and Skeppy watching him curiously.
It'd been quiet mostly, he'd tended to their minor wounds and cleaned them up, so they could hopefully rest peacefully.
They stirred the pot slowly, taking note of the gemfolk's growing interest.
"What?" He asked, a small smile creeping its way onto his face
"Nothing, I'm just excited" He wiggled a bit,
Confusion coated his face
"Excited over., soup-?" He blinked, it simply nodded in response
"You make good soup."
They rolled his eyes, turning back to the pot
"Thanks-?"
The gemfolk paused before speaking again
"So like.," It hesitated
"Are we friends now?" His face lit up with hope, blinking his eyes innocently at the demon
Bad froze and turned to Skeppy, thinking hard for a second.
"Oh- well- I guess?" He shrugged
It beamed with excitement, lifting his arms slightly and shaking them, but quickly putting them back down.
"Really? Really?- I haven't had a friend in so long!"
Bad softly laughed a bit, gently spooning some soup to try.
"Me either," he slowly lifted it up to his face
"Does this mean I can kiss you now?" The gemfolk asked purely
Bad spat out the soup, violently throwing himself into a coughing fit
"WH-AT-" He choked out between breaths, Skeppy frowning with confusion
"What?? Do friends not do that-" It muttered slightly embarrassed, frowning
"NO-" He corrected his tone, ignoring the heat burning his face
"No Skeppy- friends don't do- that" They waved their hands in front of him
A small smile formed on its face, not a good thing.
"Do what? Kissy kiss?" The gemfolk's tone had a hint of teasing in it, causing Bad's face to redden more
"Yes. That-" He grabbed two bowls, nearly dropping them
"Why not though?" He asked with a more genuine tone, watching the demon's moves slowly
Bad sighed
"You really haven't had a friend in a while.,-" A breathless laugh came out, before he shook his head
"That's something lovers do."
"Oh- well what's the difference?" It asked
Man, Skeppy really was set on keeping this conversation up,
"Well-" Bad started, before coming to a realization that he couldn't think of any reasons.
"There's some- I just don't know them," He mumbled, attempting once again to shut down the conversation.
The gemfolk nodded, watching Bad serve their food
"Have you ever been a lover?" It asked, taking his bowl as it was handed to him.
"Me? Heck no," Bad chuckled, sipping their own soup slowly
"Oh- me either.,-"
"Personally not for me, relationships are a huge jumbled mess, they make things so difficult and for what?" He threw his arm in a circle
"..are they really that bad?"
"I mean- I don't know they sound confusing," They shrugged
Skeppy agreed, sipping his soup before continuing the conversation
"Yeah, sounds like being bestfriends with extra steps." It nodded
The demon couldn't help but chuckle a bit, smiling
"Pretty much,"
The two fell into silence, Bad looking at his now muddied map.
It was slightly tattered but still visible, so he carefully marked an 'x' on their current location.
Skeppy leaned over and watched him as they wrote down mental notes onto the paper,
"What's that for?"
"Just a couple notes, want to avoid this area because of bounty hunters."
He crossed out the nearby village, changing his attention towards a different one
"We could head there and properly get some rest for the night" Bad shifted the map so Skeppy could get a better look
"Sounds good,"
He turned over to Rat, who was lying on her back out cold.
They smiled and pet her softly, Skeppy leaning against a rock and watching
"You got any plans for later?"
Bad thought for a second, not really understanding what the gemfolk was saying
"What do you mean?"
"Well, now that you aren't turning me in-?" He asked, slight suspicion rising in its voice
"Oh yeah-" He'd nearly forgotten about that,
"I'm not sure, maybe find a place to settle first.,"
Skeppy shifted, keeping his attention on Bad but not speaking
"Somewhere far away from here that's for sure," Bad grumbled,
It frowned ever so slightly, slouching a bit but shaking it off
But Bad noticed quickly, and took note
"You okay?"
"Yeah- but I don't know what to do now, I mean I could head back to my tower.," He shifted
The demon hesitated, waiting for him to answer
"But?"
Skeppy mumbled something and shook his arms a bit, going quiet
They swore they could see a tint of red form on the gemfolk
But still he waited patiently for an answer, curiosity had gotten to him
"It's boring there I guess- and.," He trailed off,
"I don't know lonely," It crossed his arms, turning away slightly
Bad couldn't help the smile that formed from that sentence, feeling loved or needed in any way was a blessing.
"Maybe you could come with me.,?" They asked hopefully
He turned to look at Bad and think for a second,
"You sure? I don't want to be a burden,"
Bad shruggled, slowly a small smile formed onto their face
"You won't be a burden Skeppy, I'd be happy to have you there"
It smiled at the soft words, relaxing a bit
The two stared at each other for a minute or so, Bad's tail swishing from side to side slowly
Suddenly a small pebble hit him in the back of the head
He whipped around to Rat sitting up, a displeased and annoyed look painting her face
"Oh, sorry girl did we wake you up?" They smiled a bit
The dragon only huffed in response, walking over and butting her head into Bad for attention.
Slowly he ran his hand down her neck and pet Rat softly
Skeppy watched silently, before speaking up
"So head to the village to spend the night?"
"Yeah, unless you want to do something else?"
It shook its head quickly
"No, I'd like a comfy bed or something for the night" He sighed, closing his eyes
Bad smiled
"Don't worry, you'll get one"
The two packed up their stuff soon after and ventured off towards the nearby village,
It would be a long walk, but well worth it for fresh food and a soft bed.
Slowly Bad pushed open the tavern door, a slight squeaking noise was drowned out amongst the loud music
Plenty of creatures were taking up tables, talking to one another and drinking as they wish
"Stay close, I'll get us a room upstairs" Skeppy nodded in response, the three walking towards the counter
The barkeeper waved to them and leaned against the counter with a cheery smile
"Hey boys! What can I getcha today?" She asked, setting a drink on the counter
"Hey, could I get some hot wings and a water, and?" Bad turned towards Skeppy waiting for his answer
The gemfolk held tightly onto Bad's cloak, he looked more nervous then he was before
"Uh- just, a- uh" It nervously stared, his words losing him as he tried harder to speak
Bad took note of it and leaned down a bit
"I can order for you if you want?" He offer calmly, and Skeppy nodded quickly in return
Bad listened and then stood up,
"Two waters, hot wings and some fries please" He smiled,
Rat then nudging into him, annoyed
".,and some side chicken" He laughed softly
The barkeeper nodded, writing everything she neeeded down onto a small pad of paper
"Alright! Take a seat right over there please,"
Bad nodded in response, the three walking over and resting at the side booth
"I'll get us a room after we eat,"
Skeppy nodded, sitting silently and looking around curiously,
"It's been so long since I've been this far into a town," It mumbled, glancing at creatures sitting around,
Bad nodded
"Same here,"
The bartender walked over with two plates of food, setting them down and smiling at the ivory dragon
"What a cutie! What's her name?" She smiled,
"Lucy! You can pet her if she'll let you," He waved towards Rat, who sniffed the lady cautiously
She pet her calmly, as Bad slid Skeppy his plate of food
Suddenly Rat's attention was taken away and focused on the food, she snatched a piece of the chicken and snapped it up quickly.
"Well I'll leave you two to it, enjoy your food!" She smiled and walked off
Both waved her off and then turned to eachother,
"She seems nice" Bad smiled,
The gemfolk nodded in agreement, nibbling on his fries
"Thank you for ordering for me.,"
