Sick Day

Chapter 11: Meeting Him II

Chapter Text

Sometimes Six wished she wasn’t so stupidly prideful and reckless but unfortunately for her, her personality was slapped with these two awful traits at birth then grew worse as she grew. Because of this, bad things tended to happen to her. This was one of those days where Six wished she could create a portal, go back in time and strange her past self for being such a fucking idiot as her leg was killing her. The Yellow Devil grimaced, struggling to lift her injured leg off the ground but she only managed to drag it along the ground. Blood and rainwater stained the white bandages she put on her leg, red ran down and stained her pale skin with her life fluid.
She cursed under her breath, she hated to admit it but Six knew she messed up big time when she patched up her leg even with that witch doctor’s training. She wasn’t exactly sure what she could’ve messed up but she couldn’t let those questions stop her, not when she was still in danger. “Relax Six, I can’t see them for miles, we’re good.” Six rolled her ruby eyes. “That was not what I was referring to, but yes they are still chasing us.” The shadow didn’t respond to that retort as it hovered around her as she dragged her ass along, it instead eyed her leg.
“You did a terrible job with that bandage job.” Six would sigh if she had the energy or the anger to do so, she knew that shit better than the back of her own hand, the pain shooting through her nerves was a sign that she fucked up. Six hated to admit it as her pride was still screaming despite how many times Six was punching it in it’s fucking face, but she knew she needed another’s help in order to fix this wound. It was now out of her control now, time to swallow her pride and this time, she knew it was for the best.
The pain and blood loss from her wound was starting to have a toll on her much to her dismay: Six’s vision began to blur, her limbs started to heavy, she started to feel dizzy and tired. The pain started to fade away which wasn’t exactly a good thing as Six knew what that meant which was why she was struggling to keep herself awake. It was a difficult task as Six was losing a lot of blood but the Yellow Devil wasn’t one for giving up, even when the situation was turning dire. However Six’s body didn’t agree with that, her legs wobbled from beneath her, almost unable to support her weight.
Her head was spinning, her consciousness was slipping, everything felt heavy. Voices bounced around her skull, footsteps echoed from far away, someone shouted at her. Was it her shadow? She didn’t know but that hardly mattered as she was being lifted up, arms looped over shoulders as the last thing she saw was silver and green…

“Six? Six?!” Six let out a yelp as she was violently shook back to reality, the second the world stopped spinning and her eyeballs flailing around in their sockets, she shook her head then glared daggers at the person who dared to touch her besides him of course. Mono shot her a deadpan stare behind his mask, taking his hands off Six’s shoulders as he stared into her eyes. She made to snarl at him but the sight of the Brothers staring at her in concern and confusion made her reconsider, especially Netty who was close to him. The Yellow Devil felt her red irises soften as she eyed Renny and Stub’s youngest brother as he turned around in the tub and Stub’s arms, snuggling into the middle brother’s chest while he stroked his mess of auburn hair.
When the hell did she suddenly become soft? When she met him…Six shook her head to shake off the thoughts as the Brothers had started speaking. “Six, are you okay?” Renny questioned, tilting his gaze to her. Six let out a sigh, pulling her raincoat hood more up to cover her face. “I’m fine.” Nobody looked convinced at that answer. “You sure? You zoned out for a while and wouldn’t respond to anything we said,” Stub said, his arms looped around little Netty as the poor thing shivered from the cold and the mention of the boy who used to be his older brother.
“I’m fine,” the sharp reply he wasn’t at all expecting made Stub shut his mouth. Six’s eyes widened slightly, a pang of guilt hitting her heart as she shook her head then sighed. “I’m fine, I just need some fresh air.” The Brothers tried to protest but Six was out of there before Mono’s brain could properly process what was going on. The boy’s bag faltered on his head as the breeze blew past him but he recorrected it, his gaze following the girl in yellow as she left. Alle watched Six with careful eyes, setting a hand on her chin in thought. Renny and Stub blinked a few times in confusion then shook their heads as Netty snuggled further into his older brother’s chest, little hands gripping his soft skin.
Stub let out a soft sigh, a hand running through his little brother’s hair as Netty laid his head on Stub’s warm chest. His fingers got tangled in the unkempt auburn strands but that wasn’t his biggest concern, it was the safety and wellbeing of his baby brother who was his and Renny’s responsibility. Stub shut his eyes, a flashback of both him and his eldest brother holding little Netty when he was just a baby ran through his head. Then the promise the two brothers made to protect their baby brother came next. Finally Lez’s face and what he had done was the last thing Stub wanted to see. Stub wasn’t a person who would get angry easily but that silver eyed bastard was bringing out all the protective and maternal instincts within him.
He took in a deep breath through his nose, wrapping his arms more around Netty who didn’t seem to mind being wrapped up like a little burrito in his older brother’s warm embrace. He nuzzled further into Stub’s strong chest and arms, his own arms looping around his older sibling to hug him back. Netty then felt fingers on one of his shoulders, he turned his head to find Renny beside him, gently caressing his shoulder in an effort to comfort him. The eldest sibling gave a smile as he felt his baby brother’s hand touch his own, feeling his familiar warmth resting on his skin.
Renny wrapped his fingers around Netty’s small hand, his other hand resting on top. He gently rubbed the sick boy’s knuckles with his fingers, a small gesture but told Netty that no matter what, his big brothers will always be there for him and protect him. Netty didn’t say it but he was tearing up, his lower lip quivered, his form hunched over in the tub as the little boy tried his hardest to not cry. He raised one of his cupped fists to his face, feeling a tear starting to slip down his cheek, something that his two brothers, Mono and Alle took notice of. Renny knew what this was about and he brought up a hand to Netty’s face to wipe the tear away.
The gesture seemed to have broken something inside Netty as cold tears streamed down the little boy’s cheeks, sobs becoming choked in his throat along with the stomach acid that was trying to force its way out. Netty’s older brothers didn’t hesitate to wrap their arms around their youngest brother, hugging him tightly and allowing him to cry all his feelings out. Netty wailed even louder either from the stress of being sick or something else, but regardless it was a sight that broke Mono’s heart. He turned his gaze away being reminded of the night where he consoled the little boy after his horrible nightmare, feeling his tears and face on his bare chest as he cried then snuggled into him like he was his older brother.
A pang of guilt struck him in the chest and a stray tear streamed down his cheek not that anyone could see it, if they could, questions would rise. And those weren’t ones the bag headed teen wanted to answer in relation to what he was plotting with an adult in the woods, betraying their trust like how Six betrayed his own. If he did that, would he get to have moments like this? Would the Brothers ever look at him the same again? Would the Brothers even come back alive if he decided to send them out there? Mono tried to shake off the thoughts but they kept coming back to haunt his mind and feel his heart with guilt.
The older teen let out a sigh, bringing two fingers to massage the bridge of his nose as he shot a glance at the Yellow Devil who appeared to be staring off into the distance for a few seconds, her yellow hood up to hide the back of her head. He still felt a bit of anger at Six’s yellow clad form but another feeling began to build in his mind, a feeling of confusion and suspicion that the Boss of New Dream knew wasn’t his imagination filled his chest. He shot a glance at his best friend, she seemed to think so too. Alle shot another glance at the Yellow Devil, looked back at Mono with a look that said: “Something is up.”
Mono gave another look but this time, at both the Yellow Devil and the wall, swearing that he saw his silver and green eyes reflected in his.

Lez grinded his jaw together as he threw himself from his bed, already pissed off at his guards to no end for waking him up at this stupid damned hour. It was true that the boy did have trouble sleeping thanks to trauma that Lez had spent hours writing in a journal that his father had got him a long time ago, some nights he would spend awake altogether, but even then he needed to sleep and anyone who would dare disturb him when he was having a good snooze would get a helping hand of bat to the face. Unfortunately for him, Lez couldn’t get his bat to bash his living, breathing alarm clocks as they dragged him from his hammock before his reflexes could wake up properly.
Even when he was awake, Lez could barely make out what the hell the guards were saying as they were talking at the same time. Their words banged on his mind giving him a headache but regardless he spoke or rather, shouted. “One at a time!” Des, one of his laid back guards, flinched for a few seconds at his boss’ tone but took in a deep breath then spoke. “W-we found…we found someone, outside the building,” the guard stuttered as he talked but Lez managed to make out the words easily, his mismatched eyes narrowed into a look of confusion. “Who? Who the hell is outside our building at this fucking hour?”
“We’re not sure, we just found her outside, half conscious, her leg is bleeding badly and she’s turning pale. I think she dragged herself through the Pale City if the wounds on her are any hint,” Des continued, head turning to face the staircase the other guards had gone down. “Do you know her?” Des flinched at the severe tone his boss was using, but he answered with a headshake. “Is she alone?” That question was an odd one to ask but given the Survivor Order’s run ins with kids looking to ambush them, Des knew the Boss wasn’t one for taking chances.
“From the looks of things, yes, we did a once over and found no one around.” Lez gave a nod to the guard then followed after him, his nerves easing as he bounded down the stairs. Though he was still exhausted, his mind became sharp and alert at the news of a stranger outside the team he created. Flashes of previous attacks on his team raced through his mind making his steps quickened, the journey taking less than what he thought. In seconds, his mismatched irises met the color yellow, something that made his eyes widened. Yellow, such a rare color to see in this world as the rest of the world was nothing but black and gray, no other color that the others could find.
Despite himself, Lez found himself staring at the figure in yellow as two of his guards ran up to the stranger, grabbed her arms then hoisted them over their shoulders, hauling her to their building. More of the girl was revealed: black hair, small body, pale skin but what really caught Lez’s attention was her eyes. Blood red eyes met his gaze as what remained of her consciousness came to her brain, they stared in surprise at him before they narrowed as Lez approached her, peering at her carefully. She let out a small hiss, bearing teeth that were sharp like theirs but she halted as she fell unconscious even as Lez and his followers dragged her inside…

Lez felt a gasp escape him as he felt a hand on his shoulder, however he calmed down when he realized that his twin sister had snapped him back to reality, he turned to Raven who was gazing back at him with a concerned look. The older boy turned his attention back to New Dream, head dropping onto the wooden wall as he took in a deep breath. Raven didn’t need to be a genius to know what this was about, she had met the red eyed girl when her twin brother and the girl in yellow ventured to a land of cages. She gently walked over to her brother as he jumped down from the wall, setting a hand on his shoulder then rubbing small circles on his back and spine to soothe him.
Lez felt his sister’s hand on his back but he barely paid attention to that, his mind was more focused on her. He took in a deep breath through his nose, his mind being assaulted by the image of her: her raincoat, her ruby eyes, the way she held his hand, her flesh upon his, her lips upon his. Lez felt his cheeks go deep crimson red upon remembering that moment, his last gift to her before she left besides the dark red patch on her coat. Mono wasn’t the first one he laid his lips on and somehow, hers were more softer than his. Maybe because he and her had a deeper relationship than what he first thought. He let out a harsh sigh through his nose, a hand rubbing his burning face. His cheeks were so red he knew his twin sister took notice of them, however she didn’t tease him like she did when he had a flashback involving Mono, probably because she noticed that he looked overwhelmed.
Lez knew that his sister was beside him in an instant as his green eye flickered, the same way it did when he finally found her in a cage surrounded by them. Lez shook his head hard, his teeth grinded together with anger at the memories. He couldn’t even call those motherfuckers kids, no he wouldn’t, they didn’t deserve to be called that. An arm wrapped around his shoulders that he recognized as Raven, both Murtad twins rested their heads against each other, taking a few minutes to breathe. Raven moved her hand to her brother’s back, soothing him and allowing him to relax from that trip down memory lane which she knew had involved Six.
Six, the girl in yellow, the Yellow Devil, a girl who was a mystery to most but was now one of her closest friends besides the team up with Merv back in the Survivor Order. That girl was nuts and creepy especially when she did her shifts back into an innocent but scared girl, so Raven wasn’t too close to her. Six was once one of the more unapproachable people on her brother’s team especially when she first joined after being rescued, but as the time went on, Six had opened up enough for both the sister of Lez and the Yellow Devil to become close. Not as close as Lez and Six apparently had gotten.
Now Raven wasn’t entirely sure what had been going on between her brother and the Yellow Devil, but if the redness on Lez’s cheeks was any evidence, it was something deeper than what she considered a simple friendship. Raven hadn’t asked what had gone on between the two of them in the years of her being absent, but perhaps she didn’t need to, the way the two acted together, it was becoming more and more obvious what kind of relationship the pair had. Lez denied that he had feelings for the Yellow Devil, but she knew better.
After what felt like a few good minutes, Raven peered at her brother. “You okay?” Lez took in a deep breath through his nose. “Yeah, I’m fine, I just…had a flashback,” he let out a sigh from his mouth, head dropping to hide the redness still on his cheeks. “Thinking about her again?” Lez tilted his gaze away from his sister, his red cheeks flaring even more confirming the girl’s suspicions. “Lez, hey it’s okay to admit you have feelings, not me nor Tabby are going to judge you.” Raven nuzzled her twin brother, her hand moved to Lez’s black/white hair to run her fingers through it. Her sympathetic gaze was met by her brother’s silver eye as he shot her a sideways glance, he turned away again. “I know that, it’s just…”
He clenched his hands against his head, his cheeks burning just as red as his shirt as he let out a sigh. Raven tried not to chuckle at the blush on her brother’s face as her hand moved to caress her sibling’s cheek the same way her brother did to Mono, Lez rolled his eyes at that but rested his hand on hers. “Maybe I do, maybe I don’t but whatever.” Raven gave an eyeroll of her own, her fingers slipping to Lez’s abs to tickle him before realizing that probably wasn’t a good idea. She let out a sigh as she realized her plot for revenge will have to wait for later when they were back at the trailers where the rest of the Survivor Order and their youngest sister, Tabby, were at.
A big smirk crossed onto her face at the thought of her little sister and her tickling their brother, though she tried to keep it off for she didn’t want Lez to catch on. Speaking of which, Lez let loose a sigh as he stood to his feet with his sister in tow, his left hand with the newly attached pinky gripping the binoculars, a bit of pitch black coating the skin.
