Chapter Text
Lumine had asked Lyney, Kazuha, Bennet, and Xiangling to help her farm for some artifacts, which they all agreed to. And the farming sessions was going great… if you see Lumine’s slowly deepening scowl as a good thing. Usually if Lumine was in a bad mood then at least one of them would try to make her feel better if not all of them would but this… was a different case. Everyone was aware of the unspoken rule that when Lumine gets bad luck with artifacts, don’t mess with her. But of course there was another issue today.
Lyney.
Anyone that wasn’t seething with anger could see that Lyney wasn’t doing okay. He kept coughing and sneezing and he was moving slower, and at the end of each round he’d end up with even less hp than usual. But since Lumine was a person seething with anger she barely noticed, but luckily her teammates did.
After he first few rounds Lumine had ran out of condensed resin so everyone was currently in the Court of Fontaine while she makes some more. While they were waiting Xiangling came up to Lyney.
“Hey Lyney are you doing alright?”
Lyney nods and smiles. “Of course I’m fine-“ Lyney sneezes. “Excuse me. I just have some allergies.”
Before Xiangling has the chance to say anything else Lyney coughs and excuses himself and walks over to Lumine. “Don’t worry I’m sure you’ll get something good next round.”
Lumine only glares at him before walking away. “Fuck off Lyney. Come on let’s go back to the domain everyone!”
Lyney lets out a nervous chuckle. Bennet walks up to Lyney and pats him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry she doesn’t mean it.”
Lyney was about to nod but gets stopped by another sneeze. “Excuse me…”
After a few more rounds of bad artifacts they go back to the court. This time Kazuha comes up to Lyney.
“I’ve noticed your movements been staggering a bit. Are you feeling alright.”
Lyney drinks the last of the water from
his bottle and looks at Kazuha. “You’ve been watching me while I fight?” Lyney smiles and sneezes. “Excuse me. I didn’t know I looked that amazing while fighting.”
Kazuha lets out a laugh. “While I do admit you have an interesting fighting style I was more or so talking about your speed.”
“Oh well I’m fine; I’m just a little out of it today.”
“Are you sure?”
Lyney nods and coughs. “Yes I am Kazuha. Now I’m gonna go get the traveler some water so she doesn’t entirely-"
Lyney gets interrupted by a disgruntled sound coming from the direction of said traveler.
The next time they stop in Fontaine Lyney would’ve been blessed with the presence of Bennet if he hadn’t simply walked away from him and avoid him up until they started fighting again. Once they got back to the domain and Lumine started the round Lyney finally succumbed to fate and fainted.
The first thing Lyney realizes when he wakes up is that there’s water being thrown at his face. He jerks his head away and soon the water stops. “Finally you’re awake.”
Lyney slowly opens his eyes and looks at Lumine. Who’s currently looking down back at him and playing with his hair. After a few seconds of silence Lyney realizes he’s lying on the ground with his head in her lap. After another few seconds of silence Lumine sighs. “Lyney why didn’t you tell me you were sick?”
Lyney coughs and shrugs. Lumine gives him an unimpressive look before petting his hair, and they’re quite again. Lyney closes his eyes and after what feels like a few minutes he realizes something.
”Where did the others go?”
“After they told me what was wrong I told them they could leave. They hope you get better.”
“Oh.”
Lumine stops petting his hair and slowly sets his head on the ground so she can get up. She takes out her teapot and grabs Lyney’s arm. “Come on we’ve spent enough time out here.”
Lyney lets out a small groan but reluctantly stands up and as soon as he does he resets his head on Lumine’s shoulder and wraps his arms around her. Lumine smiles softly and pats his head then they enter the teapot.
Once they get in Lumine notices that Lyney’s (weak) grip has tightened a little. Lyney lets out a weak moan. “Sorry you’re feeling dizzy Lyney.”
Lumine walks into the house as best as she can with a stumbling Lyney’s hand still around her waist. She leads the both of them to an empty bedroom. “Lyney you have to let go of me now.”
Lyney groans and reluctantly lets go of Lumine and lays on the bed.
“I’ll go get some things for you, I’ll be right back.”
Lyney nods and watches Lumine leave before closing his eyes.
