Chapter Text
Alastor turned to the hotel residents, a wide smile on his face. "Well I’m starved, who wants some jambalaya!" He started walking towards the hotel, continuing to speak. "My Mother once showed me a wonderful recipe for jambalaya! In fact it nearly killed her!" He laughed, the others followed hesitantly, a few shrugging before joining in.
"You could say that kick was right out of hell!" He laughing harder, paying no mind to the chaos surrounding him.
————————————
The road crunched under his feet as he walked, fists clenched in anger.
He hated those boys, always saying mean things about him. He sniffled, furiously wiping tears from his eyes.
"Aww don’t cry" the boys taunting voices echoed in his head.
"That’s what girls do"
He sped up his pace, running to his door. He opened it and stumbled in, slamming it behind him. There was noise coming from the kitchen, the sound of a pot clanking. As he kicked off his shoes a voice called out from the kitchen.
"Alastor?"
His mother.
Alastor ran to the kitchen and hugged her tightly. She gasped, bending down and pulling him close to her chest. "Oh mon bébé, what’s wrong? Did something happen?" His mother spoke softly, rubbing his back and pressing a kiss to the top of his head.
Alastor sniffled, lifting his head to look at his mother. "It was those boys again Mama…" She sighed, closing her eyes. She stood up, gently taking her sons hand, leading him over to the stove. "How about this" she smiled down at him "would you like to help me make the jambalaya?"
Alastors eyes lit up, a small smile spreading across his face. "Mhm!" He nodded enthusiastically, wiping the wet from his eyes.
His mother laughed softly, ruffling his hair. "Well then go grab a stool, you’re not tall enough to reach yet" she teased him, poking his nose. He giggled, running off to grab the stool.
She smiled, turning back to the pot. Gathering the ingredients as Alastor came back with the stool. He pushed it up to the stove and hopped up onto it. "Careful Alastor!" She put an arm around him to steady his balance. "We don’t want you falling now do we?"
He smiled sheepishly "sorry mama"
She sighed, smiling "it’s okay little fawn, I just don’t want you getting hurt" she pinched his cheek making him squeak.
Alastor giggled "can we make it now?" He looked about ready to start jumping up and down.
His mother laughed, placing the required tools. "Of course, it’s time I teach you the recipe after all"
She went through all the steps, allowing him to take part in each one. Showing him how to prepare the ingredients, which spices to add, and how to stir.
"Hmm" she examined their work "I think it’s time for a taste test, don’t you?“ she looked at Alastor, the gap in her front teeth showing as she grinned. He giggled with excitement "Can I taste it first mama?“
She feigned indecision for a moment, tapping her chin "I don’t know…"
Alastors eyes went wide "pleaseeeeee" he begged, pouting. His mother chuckled "Of course, I was just teasing"
She grabbed the spoon, taking a scoop from the pot."Be careful Alastor, don’t drop it" she cautioned, handing the full spoon to him.
Alastor carefully took the spoon, trying not to spill the contents. He slowly raised the spoon to his lips, taking a sip.
"How is it?" His mother asked beside him. His eyes widened, a large grin forming on his lips. He quickly slurped the rest of the spoon, licking his lips. His mother grinned, "it must be delicious I assume" she took her own spoonful, sipping it carefully.
Her eyes lit up "Mmm, this truly is delicious!" She set the spoon down, ruffling Alastors hair. "Good job little fawn!" She exclaimed, picking him up and spinning him. He laughed, holding onto his mother as they spun around. She slowed their spin and set him down, laughing along with him.
She cupped his cheek, placing a kiss on his forehead. "Do you feel better bébé?"
Alastor nodded, kissing his mothers forehead in return. "Thank you mama" he paused, thinking. "Can we do this again?"
She smiled "of course we can, we can do this everyday if you want!"
He grinned, hugging his mother tightly. She held him back, pulling him into her lap. "If those boys give you trouble again you make sure to tell me, okay?"
He nodded. "Okay, I will"
He buried his face back Into her, his words slightly muffled.
"I love you mama"
She smiled, hugging him tighter.
"I love you too Alastor"
