Chapter Text

Being decisive with our desires is complicated, we don't always know how to communicate what we want in the right way. Sometimes it is easier to ignore what we want for fear of what will happen if we try. But trying, most of the time, turns out much better than expected.

Everyone knew that the twins admired Kita, they were afraid of him, yes, but they also admired him as any kohai admires his hardworking sempai. That's why Atsumu was aware that what he felt for his sempai's sempai was not admiration.

Two years older, curly black hair, somewhat tall, he was the official setter of the team when the twins walked in, with a smile he didn't show everyone. Atsumu was in love with him. He was scared, but asked if he could kiss him when he graduated.

And despite everything Osamu might say, Atsumu was convinced that those 15 minutes that made him the older twin allowed him to understand things Osamu never could. The experience had given him knowledge that Osamu didn't have, such as being fully aware that Atsumu was Suna's best friend, not Osamu, because whatever Osamu and Suna had, it wasn't friendship, not when they were both so damn in love with each other.

You had to be a fool not to notice how Suna looked at all his brother's suitors, or how Osamu was always patiently waiting for any word Suna could express about anything. Even when they were apart they were cloying, always talking one way or another about each other.

By this point, Atsumu just wanted them to kiss and realize how much they loved each other.

And for them to leave him alone. God, if he had to hear again how pretty his brother looked eating, or how hilarious that video Suna showed him was, Atsumu was going to throw up and find new friends.

And to top it all off, the little pair went and got lost in the middle of a class activity. And of course because of their supposed "twin telepathy" it was Atsumu who had to go looking for them. It didn't even work that way.

Watching Suna kiss like a hungry man to his brother was not something Atsumu would have wanted to see. Ever. That wasn't the way he expected things to go, let alone in a public space, let alone considering how cute and innocent the two's relationship was.

Should he have guessed? They are teenagers after all, but still, something felt wrong.

Suna kissed Osamu and didn't say shit to him.

That was what was wrong, Osamu snapped three seconds after Atsumu asked, expecting to hear that they had finally decided to go out after three years of peeking and all that shit they had with each other. Osamu didn't even think he could like a man.

In fact, Suna looked horrified when he realized that Atsumu had seen them. were they such idiots?

He needed to see them up close to know what was going on, but he also wanted to give them their space to work it out together, after all, there was nothing platonic about that kiss.

...

Atsumu really wanted them to stop saying he was the dumb twin, because Osamu clearly took the prize. Does kissing reinforce friendship? Maybe, but not the way those two were doing it.

They weren't even hiding it!

The worst thing was that Akagi knew. Shutting his former sempai's loudmouth mouth wasn't cheap, but at least he stayed within his close circle. Atsumu managed to keep anyone from saying anything until the pair decided to tell on their own about their relationship.

But things got weird from one moment to the next. Not in a bad way, but definitely not in a good one. A strange tension had fallen over Suna and Osamu, it was painful to watch.

They still spent all their time together, but many times it seemed like Osamu didn't want to be there, and Suna was doing everything she could to keep him from leaving.

So why was it Suna who left and Osamu who seemed to want to avoid him?

They were again sleeping together in the guest room (Suna's room unofficially). Atsumu was used to this, even when they fought Osamu always woke up with Suna.

What he wasn't used to, was Suna getting up alone.

Atsumu was in the dining room, getting ready to go for a run when Suna appeared down the stairs, his backpack full of stuff and a look full of remorse and resignation. They exchanged glances for a few seconds, then Suna looked away and left the house without a word.

Minutes later, Osamu would appear with the same look, without asking for Suna.

The graduation ceremony happened a couple of weeks later. No message was exchanged between the twins and Suna.

The volleyball club took one last photo before their paths parted for who knows how long, promising that they would be reunited soon. Atsumu was ready to go home when Osamu took off running towards Suna. He obviously followed him few steps behind.

"Hey, the other day you left without saying anything" Osamu claimed, Suna looked away.

"I had to pack" was his reply.

Atsumu couldn't appreciate the confusion on Osamu's face, but he could see the pain on Suna's.

"What for?"

"I'm going back to Aichi" he replied, Osamu nodded, Atsumu watched the drama of the two people closest to him, seeing a headache coming. "From there I'll look for a place in Nagano."

And there it was, two people hurting each other for no reason.

>Yes

What followed in that relationship was something so unbelievable that Atsumu had to triple check if he wasn't dreaming every time he saw it happen. He would see Osamu collecting Raijin's stuff without opening it, finding all the magazines that Suna could appear in and leaving them closed in a pile. Recording all his stupid matches and not watching a single one. It was ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as Suna, who would call Atsumu monthly to ask about his brother, and pay him with merchandising of his favorite idol.

Atsumu got fed up rather late with his brother and his friend, but he had enough. He went to a witch from some magazine and asked her if she could do something to get the pair back together. The lady cast a ridiculous spell, like the whole situation, gave him a couple of directions which Atsumu missed and charged him quite dearly, but Atsumu came away satisfied that he had done something for them.

He didn't expect that the next day his brother would have a pseudo panic attack at the mere mention of Suna to him. Much less that the day after that, Osamu would be replaced by Komori of all people. What did poor Komori have to do with any of this? Atsumu was bored, so he didn't tell him the rules of Osamu's house, like no one can touch the rice cooker, or that frying pans don't go with pots, but hey, that's the pair's problem.

What did surprise him, was that the day Komori had to open Onigiri Miya, he managed to provoke himself a fever with blotting paper in 7 minutes, and convinced everyone that he had a cold to let him sleep in the office.

Kiyoomi sighed as he saw the messages, looks like he would have to put off his studies again to save his cousin.

Kiyoomi was heading towards where he assumed the three troubles and Osamu were, guided only by his map app and a lot of instinct when he felt his name being called.

"Kiyoyo?" said the indistinguishable voice of Motoya, he had to peel his gaze from his phone to look ahead, where calmly walked Suna Rintarou, Miya Osamu and, indeed, Komori Motoya.

Kiyoomi was, to say the least, very confused, but he wasn't the only one.

"Oh, Omi, you came!" shouted Atsumu cheerfully, who came behind the group quietly eating a popsicle. Kiyoomi glared at him, Atsumu pretended not to see it.

Great, he had come for nothing.

"Let's go eat now that things are settled, are you coming?" Kiyoomi sighed.

"Yeah whatever," he replied, making the blond grin.

The three cast curious glances at the exchange, but if they had anything to say, no one did.

Notes:

That's it!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY FINISHED!!!! AFTER THREE YEARS!!!!!!
This story started when my ex called me in 2021, it's not an interesting story so we won't talk about it, initially I wanted to write my first SunaOsa, but this came out so :)
I hope you liked it, the next thing I will upload is a multichap SakuAtsu Dream AU, in case you are interested.

Notes:

Hi, I hope the chapter wasn’t to terribly written. I had a question that Sant Google couldn’t answered me. Because I write “awaited” and everything kept correcting me to “waited”, and I honestly don’t know the difference, so I left it like “awaited” as you could see, but is it wrong?

Also, hope you like the chapter :)
