Chapter Text
“Bye-bye Sunny,” a cute toddler yelled over her parent’s shoulder, her chubby hand stretched out as she was trying to wave at Sun. Sun themself was waving from the daycare door and longingly watching the little family disappear to the lobby. Sun let their hand fall and looked back. The daycare was a mess and his program was screaming at them to clean up, like a parent screaming at their troublesome teenager.
Let it be said that Sun hated clean up time for a very good reason. How could they not, they never got to choose to clean. Sometimes they would leave it until their program screamed to the point that nothing mattered any more. At least then Sun couldn’t remember cleaning. Sun wanted to leave more than anything in the world. Maybe go to the sea and breath in the salty air. But for now it was time to close up.
“Bye, Sun,” one of the human attendants, Hope, said as she squeezed past Sun. Sun opened the door a little more and gave the woman a wave. The other one, Dean, followed her out with his book bag thrown over his shoulder. He was quick to catch up with the girl.
“You know, I’m pretty sure you don’t need to say bye to that machine. Pretty sure it can’t understand you,” Dean said. Sun looked away and pretended that they didn’t hear a thing. They did that often.
“I know, just making sure that when the AI takes over, I, at least, left a good impression,” Hope laughed. Let it be clear, Sun didn’t care what adults had to say about them. All that mattered was whether the kids liked them. But that didn’t mean that they didn’t deserve some respect. To a certain extent, Sun was just like any other human. Or as Moon would say, Sun was half a person stuck in a metal suit and Moon was the other half. Sun giggled at the thought and slowly closed the door.
“Shit,” A voice yelped followed by a crash. Sun snapped their head to the sound towards the lobby. The voice sounded very child-like. Sun wondered if there was a kid still here. Their mind screamed at them to check up on the sound. Not being one to disobey their protocols, Sun took a hesitant step out of the daycare.
Once their foot crossed over the threshold of the massive doors, Sun stepped down. They looked up to where they heard the sound, before they rushed off to where they heard the cry.
When they got to the lobby they saw a girl at the bottom of the stairs. All the remaining employees were stepping around her, all trying to get to the parking bay. She was picking up what looked liked robot pieces and stuffing them into a cardboard box. Her back was turned to Sun as she mumbled something under her breath that Sun couldn’t really make out. She looked young, her hair pulled into two low buns. She wore a loose top that was tucked into a long yellow skirt. A pair of sandals were laying close.
“Oh dear, did you fall, superstar?” Sun asked and rushed down the stairs. She snapped her head over to them. They reached for the girl, ready to check for any injuries. Instead, she started to crawl away.
“Don’t come - stay - no back,” the girl babbled and bumped into the front desk. She curled into a ball with her arms covering her head.
“Superstar?” Sun asked and got down to their knees next to the box she dropped. It was clear that the girl wanted them as far away as possible, but Sun’s mind was screaming to help.
“No, get far away from me,” the child stuttered. She somehow curled into a tighter ball. It was odd that she was so scared of Sun. Their programming didn’t know what to do, it was quiet. Eerily quiet now.
“I won’t do anything you don’t want me to do.” Sun moved their legs out from under them and sat down on the ground. They made sure to keep their arms to their side and fought the urge to tilt their faceplates. Some kids found it creepy when Sun would do it. “I’m Sunny. What is your name, Superstar?”
The child peered at Sun through her fingers. She couldn’t be older than 17. A little older than the average kid in the Pizzaplex.
“...cassie,” she finally said. There we’re plenty of Cassies in Sun’s database but none of them fit this Cassie’s decryption. There is no record of her at the Pizzaplex as a client. She must work here then.
“That’s such a pretty name Cassie! Let me guess, it was a birthday gift,” Sun joked to try and get Cassie to calm down. It worked, and the young lady huffed out a small laugh and relaxed slightly. She looked up to the animatronic, who gave a little wave.
“You can come out in the light,” she bluntly said, much to Sun’s surprise. The light, Sun wondered what led her to think that they couldn’t be out in the light. Then it clicked, Cassie must be talking about their counterpart. Sun laughed, wondering how she got confused between them and Moonie. Sun had the sun rays.
“You’ve met Moondorp I see,” Sun said and fought back a smile, "quite the character, aren't they?" Sun wished that they could meet Moon. Sometimes they left messages for Moon on sticky notes and would sometimes get a response.
“They were scary,” Cassie nodded as her eyes drifted off the parts that surrounded Sun. No they could understand hesitance. Moon wasn’t the greatest with people, especially after hours. Moon lacked the ability to be nice to them, which Sun luckily made up for on their behalf.
“Moon’s not scary, just a little… much sometimes,” Sun hesitantly said with a smile in their voice. Many employees also found Moon quite ‘interesting’. That’s beside the point, it looks like Cassie took quite a tumble with some scratches on her arms. Sun would be surprised if bruises were to form in the next couple of days. “Are you hurt, Cassie?”
“No, I’m fine. Just stepped funny while going up the stairs,” Cassie mumbled as she looked up at Sun. Sun gave a short nod before something from the box caught their eye. They peered in the box. In it were parts. No they had no mechanical aspects, it was parts of a shell. Many were a blue-purple with a few odd off-white and red. Sun reached to a piece on the ground, a white piece. They slowly examined the piece, titling and spinning it. It was a portion of the facial structure, specifically from the upper muzzle area, similar to that of Freddy, Roxy, or Foxy. Yet it was too long for Freddy and far too short for Roxy or Foxy.
“Who are these for, Superstar?” Sun asked tilting their head to the kid.
“Oh don’t worry. It’s new parts for… a secret project me and my brother are working on. Yup, that’s it,” Cassie said with an awkward smile. Sun dropped the piece in the box before picking up another. It was a blue-purple in a thick rectangle shape that was rounded on one short end and had a straight edge at the other. There were clips on the inside suggesting that another part clipped on behind it. It kinda looked like the upper part of a bunny ear if Sun squinted.
“Oh, I love secrets, especially at a sleep-over and drinking FizzyFaz. Do you have a favourite kind? I could get you some,” Sunny offered and dropped the part into the box. Their hand quickly found another part, a rusty coloured semicircle with two clips on either side of it. It kinda reminded them of a seashell washed up on the ocean’s shore. This was definitely an eyelid, almost identical in shape to that the others had. Sun wishes that they had eyelids.
“I um no, I’m fine. I drink too many soft drinks as it,” Cassie said with a shy grin. Sun smiled and dropped the eyelid in the box. They were happy to see Cassie warming up to them.
“Nonsense, there is no such thing. Well as long as you don’t tell Chica,” Sun loudly whispered the last part and picked up another piece. Again a blue-purple one, but this one was apart of the upper face that covered the eyes and forehead. On the right eyehole was a painted orange star. Someone must be getting a new look, these pieces looked ready to go.
“I’m fine. Actually, Sun, do you mind helping me out?” Cassie asked and pushed a piece towards them with her foot. Sun quickly nodded and dropped the face part in the box.
“Oh, I can be the best helper! What can I do?” Sunny asked and reached for the little black piece Cassie nudged. She flinched back slightly, but masked it by quickly standing up.
“I need to bring that box up to Bonnie Bowl. And another two that’s in my car. They are heavy, so I could really use the hand,” Cassie explained and picked her sandals up. Sun slowly picked up the small pieced and watched her as she put on her shoes. No one has called that place Bonnie Bowl in a long time, it made Sun wonder what kind of business she had up there.
“That I can do, new friend. I can carry all three for you. Why don’t you grab the other two while I clean up here!” Sun said and rolled the piece in their hand to the other one. Cassie nodded with a sweet smile and turned to the exit. Sunny looked down at the piece in their hand to see it was a cute little button nose. A test squeeze produced a little squeak. After a second of cooing to it, Sun set the piece down in the box.
And so it continued, Sun picked up a piece, identified it as some kind of face or hair part, and dropped it in the box. Each piece made them wonder who they were for, especially the hair. It was a pale purple with vibrate pink, blue and orange highlights. It couldn’t be for the main four, they were loved, Foxy was a redesign and for themselves, well, they doubt the parts would be their size. It felt like Sun already knew what they were for, just that they didn’t know. Sun wondered if Moon knew.
Eventually all the pieces have been meticulously dropped in the box when Cassie came back with box number two. This one was wider than the other but had half the height.
“Wow, you cleaned up fast,” Cassie said as she placed the box next to the other one.
“Do you really think so?” Sun brightly asked while Cassie hummed as she folded the first box closed.
“I need to get one more box,” Cassie smiled at Sun before she turned around. Sun waited until she was out of sight and quickly shuffled on their knees over to the new box. They swiftly opened it to reveal a chest plate. It had a red button-up shirt design with the top tree buttons ‘unbuttoned’. It showed off the same blue-purple colour from the face. The chest had two white stripes on either side and had a 3d collar. Sun has seen this shirt design before; Bonnie’s old promotional art. Cassie was bringing Bonnie back.
“Sunny?” Cassie called out behind them, “Are you okay?” Sun folded the box closed.
“Cassie, are you rebuilding Bonnie?” Sun asked slowly.
“I- um. Yeah,” she admitted. She sounded nervous, as if Sun was about to jump her. “This is not going to be a problem-”
“No-no, this isn’t a problem!” Sun exclaimed and turned to her. She was standing a bit away, clutching the third box close to her chest. “More so I am happy - so, so happy! And a little bit sad. Moon misses Bonnie so much and so did I. Is Bonnie here?”
“Here?” Cassie asked.
“Yeah like,” Sun made vague gestures with their hands, “online. Is he awake?”
“He’s been for a while. Do. Do you want to see him?” she shifted her box down. She looked shocked as Sun frantically nodded. “Okay then let’s get up to the bowling alley.”
“Let’s go, friend,” Sun said and quickly got up from their knees. They picked up the two boxes, one in each hand, from the floor before going over to Cassie. They bent down slightly to allow Cassie to put her box on one of the two.
“Woah, you’re big,” Cassie said looking a little starstruck.
“Yes, 7 foot 3, I believe. But it’s been a while since I last checked,” Sun playfully said. Cassie giggled before handing her box over to Sun. They bounced up. “Lead the way, friend!”
“Okay, okay,” Cassie laugh and grab hold of Sun’s forearm to lead them. She dragged them up the stairs to the elevator to the Atrium. They were lucky that it was massive, big enough to fit Sun standing up.
“Hey, Sunny. Do you think the others would be happy to see Bonnie?” Cassie asked with the fazbear theme playing in the background. It took Sun a second to understand what the girl was asking.
“Of course, they would. Bonnie was very special to them. Why do you ask?” Sun said and looked down at Cassie in confusion.
“Well Gregory, my brother, he’s nervous of everyone here,” Cassie said as she blankly looked around. Now where has Sun heard that name before. Then it dawned on them, there was a kid here with a blue shirt. The only kid to make it on the banned list.
“Gregory? Like with brown hair and eyes and was trapped in the Pizzaplex about eight years ago?” Sun asked. The elevator dinged out before the doors slide open.
“What?” Cassie asked and her eyebrows furrowed. Maybe it was a stretched for the Cassie’s brother to be the same kid. They made a note to themself to take that kid off that list, Sun was sure he has learned his lesson by now.
“Nothing,” Sun hummed and walked out of the elevator. It’s been so long since they were in the Atrium. For them, the Atrium was a place that never changes, if you had been there once, you’ve been there a million times. At least if was a nice change of scenery every once in a while.
“Anyway,” Sun heard Cassie say behind them as she ran up next to them, “he thinks that every animatronic is out to pull Bonnie apart. I can see why, Bonnie had massive gashes through his stomach and most of his limbs were ripped off. Bonnie was bad, but he was so nice about it,” Sun narrowed their eyes. That didn’t make sense, they were told that Bonnie went missing. Though they suppose both could be true.
“Ripped apart? No, no one would do that! That’s awful!” Sun exclaimed and looked down to Cassie. She shrugged.
“I know, it’s just that otherwise, we don’t know what happened,” she said and Sun shook their head, “I don’t know.”
“Everyone loved Bonnie, and Bonnie loved everyone. I don’t- this is- I- sorry. This is the first time I am hearing of this, I hate thinking that Bonnie went through that with no one to help,” Sun rambled on, trying to wrap their head around this. “He was so nice, but the last he was seen was… No, no that isn’t right.” Sun slowed down until they came to a stand still.
“What isn’t right?” Cassie said and stopped right in front of them, obscured by the boxes. For a second Sun was debating whether they should finish their thought.
“I- I should not be telling you this, but the last time Bonnie was seen was walking into the catwalk above Gator Golf. Don’t think bad of Monty!” Sun almost frantically said and shifted the boxes as to see Cassie a little bit better
“Think bad of Monty, why would I?” Cassie asked and titled her head just slightly. Looking close Sun could just barely make out a faint golden eyeshadow on her eyes.
“Monty always wanted to be in the band,” Sun signed. Back then Monty believed that the Pizzplex owned him something; everything. Not that he was that much different now, but would not have gone that far.
“You don’t think he…” Cassie trialled off and peered at Sun through her eyebrows. What was Sun thinking, Monty didn’t kill his coworker. A small part of them knew that didn’t mean that it wasn’t Monty’s claws that did the deed.
“Absolutely not! BUT there was a really bad virus at the time. It must have made Monty,” Sun said, their voice cracking with ‘but’. Cassie’s mouth fell open.
“This is bad, Gregory was right. I’m not sure if you should go up,” Cassie said and brought her hand to her mouth to bite her finger nails.
“Cassie, I’m fine. Scout's honour,” Sun said, their voice cracking slightly as they attempted a mock salute while balancing the three boxes in their arms.
“I know, but, Sunny I can’t be sure,” Cassie replied, her brow furrowing as she glanced around nervously.
“Cassie, please!” Sun pleaded, their voice trembling stepped closer to Cassie. A burning was building in their chest.
“Sunny, you’re scaring me,” Cassie said, taking a step back and rising her arms up.
“What is going on here?” A voice called out Sun whipped their head around and right behind them stood a very angry looking Officer Alice. Sun could feel the burning rapidly die out, as if they were push in the cold waters of the ocean.
“Alice!” Cassie yelled and side stepped Sun. She ran to the officer who in turned pulled the girl behind her. Sun’s eyes went wide, their chest tightening up.
“I- no. I didn’t mean,” Sun stammered, trying to explain that they didn’t know what just happened. Normally they are so good at listening and understanding. Sun understood why Cassie was hesitance now, but an ugly desperate feeling took over. Why did they want to see Bonnie so badly?
“Sun, what are you doing outside the daycare. Aren't you supposed to be busy cleaning up?” the officer asked as she patted Cassie’s hand.
“I am sorry, Cassie had a tumble and I came to help,” Sun said and focused their attention on the boxes they were holding.
“Very noble Sun, but you should have alerted me,” the officer said, her voice softening a little. Sun nodded.
“I know, I wasn’t thinking,” Sun whispered. For a second nobody talked. The tension was so thick one could cut it with a knife.
“It’s fine, just make sure that it doesn’t happen again,” Alice finally said and rubbed her temples. Sun was a little surprised that she was letting them off just like that; they were expecting at least to get a strike. Not that the strike would do much, they were hardly outside of the daycare as it was.
“Yes, Officer Alice,” Sun quickly said.
“Good I will get some staff bots to help Cassie out, and I will walk with her from here,” Alice said and Sun nodded once more. They set the boxes down at their feet. They then looked towards Cassie, her eyes more sad than afraid.
“Sunny, I-”
“I truly am sorry, Cassie. I lost myself for a second. Please do not take this as a normal behaviour from me,” Sun said, bowing their head slightly. The girl gave them a sad smile.
“I won’t, thank you for walking with me,” she said sincerely. Sun waved at her and the officer and started their way back to the daycare for clean up. Maybe they weren’t that different from Moon.

The TV was frozen on the image of someone’s lap. In a press of a button, Gregory started the video.
“Yeah so I can’t wait to go back home. I really miss the beach - are recording again, Vanessa,” Wonder said as the camera quickly panned over to them. The camera shook as it stayed on their mildly annoyed expression.
“Sorry, sorry,” Vanessa snickered, “Jeremy told me to record him when it’s his turn.”
The camera swooped over to point toward a blond guy putting on a VR headset. On the side it had the Fazbear Entertainment logo on. The room, normal in looks with its whiteboard, plants in each corner, and a green couch atop mundane brown carpeting, held an odd feature: a mirror stretching along one wall.
“Wish me luck guy,” Jeremy said and made a thumbs up to where he thought was the camera. Wonder and Vanessa laughed as he was grabbing hold of the controllers. A speaker on the wall announced that the game was starting.
And so Jeremy played. Not much happened over the next few minutes. The TV fast forwarded. At some point Wonder and Vanessa moved to sit on the couch. The camera movement shaking as Jeremy played and looking as if he was having a good time. That was until he suddenly dropped the controllers, letting them hang from his wrists, and he started scratching at the headset. The TV quickly paused before it was played in normal speed.
“Jeremy!” Vanessa yelled and Wonder ran forward. The camera dropped to the floor as Vanessa followed close behind Wonder. Both of them were trying to get the headset off.
After a struggle from all three of them the headset popped off. The sound of cries filled the room as Vanessa and Wonder held Jeremy close. The last thing heard before the VHS tape faded to black was, “i... i don't want to follow…”
