Burnt Out Sun

Chapter 5: Lavender Water

Notes:

It's a short one but @vencent_on_red motivated me out of my major writers block for this story

Chapter Text

Hitoshis POV

"Alright now that you've gotten all your questions out why don't we get some food in you," moving off the bed he held his hand out for the other to take.

"What day is it?" His green beauty inquired.

"It's Wednesday love," he watched once again as Izuku lit up like a tomato before a frown formed on his face.

"It's not an eating day Toshi," he had said such a horrible thing like it was a normal concept to have eating and non eating days.

"Izuku, my love, you're supposed to eat everyday. Don't you remember from when you were younger?" He opted for a reminder rather than bringing up "kacchan" yet again.

"No not really, Kacchan said I should only remember him. He was the only important thing in my life," the smile that accompanied the statement saddened Hitoshi. He felt the guilt of having to leave Izuku resurface yet again.

"Maybe we could have your mom visit in the near future. Would you like that?" He tried to keep his voice upbeat despite the grim topic.

"That sounds nice," Izuku smiled, but not in the way Hitoshi knew he could. Instead his eyes seemed heavily burdend. Lips taught with fear instead of happiness.

Now in the kitchen, he brought Izuku to the island sitting him on a stool across from him as he cooked some lunch. Just a simple sandwich with confirmation that Izuku liked each ingredient. Each question came with an insistence that he would eat whatever was made for him, and each time Hitoshi would correct him.

"It is important that you enjoy the food that you are eating. I want you to be happy baby," the other had blushed messing with the hem of his shirt as he looked down. Hitoshi only chuckled in response ruffling the other's hair slightly.

They ate their sandwiches, izuku only able to get down half, before moving back to their room. His love needed to take a shower and he's sure it would cheer him up a bit.

Izuku's POV:

Toshi had been jusy as kind as he remembered. Warm hands and soft words. No deceit or tricks, only truth behind each movement and word.

"How about a nice bath? You're still covered in soot and I'm sure it would be refreshing!" Hitoshi had been so enthusiastic Izuku didn't want to say no. Even if a strange feeling of heaviness and nausea began to settle inside him.

They were in the bathroom and everything was going well. Izuku took his deep breaths just like kirishima had once told him. He focused on his childhood friend, he's not Kacchan, he's Toshi. It was all working.

Until the water began to run.

It was so cold he couldn't bear it. Shivers racked his body as he turned numb. He tried to remember to breath but the cold overtook all thoughts. No escape from the cold. Then there was no time to breath. Water after water came pouring down suffocating him beyond belief. He gasped desperately only to be met with more water.

He couldn't beg or scream. Not even if he wanted to.

Plus that would only encourage his husband. Make this entire cycle of pain last miles longer.

Finally when the pain ended rough hands would be gentle just for a moment. Just long enough to give Izuku a sliver of hope.

"What would you do without me? Your hero. I always have to come rescue you, don't I. You'd never survive without me," he couldn't survive without kacchan. He would be lost and helpless without him. He wouldn't be able to breathe without him.

He couldn't breathe. Every breath was painful. His lungs burned despite the lack of water. Don't beg izuku. Don't beg. He won't see the tears if there's water. Just don't beg!

Suddenly his eyes were open. The sound of water long gone.

All that remained was the sight, smell, touch, and words of lavender.

Notes:

How was it?

I don't think it was too bad, but feel free to be blunt 😬
