Chapter 8: Celebration/Healing

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

They give him presents

Too many to remember

And too many to count

He has a cake as well

Second tells him he’ll smear its frosting on his nose

Dark did that once, too

Haha, very funny.

Chosen finds he can’t really feel anything inside today

Yes, it’s his birthday

But the only reason for his existence

For so long

Was to be a slave for another’s entertainment.

And even after that,

What purpose did he really have in his life?

Destroy, burn?

What kind of purpose was that?

And what now?

For a brief fleeting moment

He even wishes he were Dark -

Dark already had a mission -

Something he needed to accomplish -

And even if that were destroy the Chosen One

At least it was something.

God, he wants Dark back.

He wants Dark to smear cake frosting on his face again

To comfort him with his hums again

To fly with him again

To cosplay as a cat with him as a spider again

To talk with him again

To lay down with him again

To look at the stars and the clouds with him again.

Yes, this week was happier than most

Because Dark was there

In Second, Blue, Red, Yellow, Green

A piece of him is there

But is a piece of him really enough to be him?

Chosen doesn’t think so.

They sing him happy birthday

Then tell him to make a wish

As he blows out the candles

Snuffing them and leaving nothing but entrails of gray smoke…

(It’s really obvious what he wished for.)

And as Chosen wakes up the next morning

He thinks he sees a silhouette against the WiFi portal

A red silhouette.

He doesn’t care if it’s real.

He doesn’t care if he’s real.

But all he can think at that one moment

Forever in time

Is “my wish must have come true.”

Notes:

I finished something.

Yes, this is only around 2000 of the crappiest words ever, but I finished something that other people can see.

This has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.

AHAHHAHHHHH.
