Chapter Text
I think I died. Is this what it’s like to be dead? Being held in the arms of a green haired goddess? I can’t be dead, my lungs burn too much and my head is throbbing. Amity is sobbing into my shoulder, though I can barely feel her sobs wracking over my aching body. Once I gain feeling in my limbs, I can't wrap her into a hug fast enough.
“A-amity, is he…”
She jolts up, frazzled hair smooshed across her red puffy cheeks.
“Luz? LUZ!” She envelopes me into a hug, I feel uncontrollably relieved and ignore the aches in my chest as she squeezes me.
“He’s gone, I- did what I had too… he would have killed you, I couldn’t control myself.” She stuttered, shock permeating her face now that the realization of what she did sunk in. Her eyes kept wandering to the cooling body on the floor adjacent to us. The terrifying man he was in life, stark contrast to the bloodied mess he had been reduced to.
“Hey, that monster deserved what he got. Did we get the portal?”
She smiles, a soft smile that makes me want to cuddle up with her and never let go.
“It’s right here Luz.”
She holds both suitcase and key, their energy radiating with malice. The knowledge that they were made with the blood of my people made me nauseous, my own father died in the creation of this lackluster object. Every fiber of my being wanted to take the portal and smash it into a billion irreparable pieces. But this was Amity and her friends' only way home. For them to be stuck here forever would be unfathomable, one monster of a man might be gone but there are always more to replace him.
“Let’s find the others and get you all home.”
I am grateful that if Amity saw the tears on my face, she didn’t mention it.
