Chapter Text

A few weeks later

Kaminari watches as his parents pack up the car. He’s finally able to go home, and he only has one more stop before they leave.

“I’m going to check in with Bakugo one more time before we leave,” he tells his parents.

They glance at each other, then his dad says, “That’s alright, kiddo. Do you want one of us to come with you?”

“No, I’m ok.”

He races back inside, only slowing down once he reaches the elevator. Bakugo’s door is open, and Bakugo is in his room, attempting to hold a pencil as he’s writing something on a piece of paper in front of him. Mr. Bakugo is sitting beside him, an encouraging smile on his face.

“Hey,” Kaminari says, knocking on the door.

Bakugo drops the pencil, looking up at him. “Hey, you finally getting out of here?” he asks, taking in Kaminari’s jeans and t-shirt.

“Yeah, but I just wanted to come see you first.”

Mrs. Bakugo walks up behind him, then around him to reach her husband.

“Who is this?” she asks, giving Kaminari a sideways look.

“This is my friend, Kaminari. He’s one of my classmates. Mom, play nice.”

Mrs. Bakugo nods. “Well, thank you for coming to see my son. I’m sure he appreciates it.”

Kaminari nods, looking down. “I’m glad to see that you’re doing ok. I have to get back since my family is waiting for me. It was good to see you, and I’ll be back soon,” Kaminari promises, smiling at Bakugo.

“Yeah, but you don’t have to. You’ve been here enough already.”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say.”

He heads back outside, feeling lighter than he has in a while. His parents are waiting outside, so they leave as soon as he gets back to the car. Their first stop is the dorms, so that Kaminari can pick up any of his stuff, and talk to his friends. He goes in alone, and Mina immediately screeches upon seeing him. She runs over, and throws herself at him.

“Hey, Mina. How are you?” Kaminari asks, wrapping his arms around her too.

Jiro also stands up from where she was sitting on the couch.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” she asks, stepping forward cautiously.

“I’m alright.”

Mina steps back, and pulls Jiro over.

“She’s been really worried about you.”

“You and Bakugo,” Jiro replies, glaring at Mina, who just shrugs.

“That’s really nice of you, but I’m alright.”

“I’ll go get your stuff from your room for you, so you two can talk,” Mina says, grinning widely.

“I’m sorry that I worried you,” Kaminari says after Mina has left.

“Don’t be. It was just such a horrible sight seeing Bakugo drag you out of the building, and then both of you hitting the ground. We all felt so bad for not realizing what was going on, and not realizing that you weren’t there.”

Kaminari laughs nervously.

“I’m sorry, Denki.”

Kaminari’s shoulders dip. “It’s ok, I promise. I’m just glad that nothing bad happened to anyone other than me and Bakugo. I really don’t want you to feel bad.”

Jiro kisses Kaminari on the cheek. “I’ll try not to. Just make sure you don’t beat yourself up too much. This wasn’t your fault, and we’re all glad that you’re ok.”

Kaminari opens his mouth to respond, but Mina walks in before he can.

“I got your stuff.”

“Thanks. It was great seeing you guys, and I’ll be back in a few days to see everyone else too. Thanks, Jiro.”

She nods, smiling softly. Kaminari takes his bag from Mina as they both say bye. Then he heads back outside where his parents are waiting for him. If it took him longer than they thought it would, neither of them say anything. They drive back to their apartment.

Once they get back inside, Kaminari’s mom says, “Why don’t you go get unpacked, and I’ll make dinner for us? I’ll make your favorite.”

“Yeah, I’ll get started on that now.”

Kaminari walks to his room, throwing himself on his bed as soon as he gets there. It’s quiet, and he decides to take a quick nap before unpacking.

Two weeks later

Bakugo is sitting on the couch in the newly renovated living room of the UA dorms. He got out of the hospital three days ago, and his parents decided that it would be good for him to come back since they needed some time to work through everything that happened. Mr. Aizawa is taking him to his physical therapy four times a week, and he’s going to continue that for the foreseeable future.

For now though, Deku is beside him, and his other friends are spread across the room. Kaminari is on the floor in front of the couch with Mina beside him. Kirishima and Jiro are in the arm chairs, and everyone else is settled somewhere on the floor on the other side of the table. Bakugo gently flexes his hands gently as he watches Kirishima and Mina play Mario Kart. Bakugo can feel Deku’s eyes on him, but he ignores him completely. After two more rounds, Kaminari offers Deku his controller, and Mina offers Bakugo’s hers. Bakugo stares at it before smiling.

“I’m getting better, but not that good yet. Thanks though.”

Mina nods, then offers it to Jiro.

“Seriously, how are you doing?” Deku asks, knocking Bakugo with his shoulder.

“I’m fine. Taking things one day at a time, and today, this is pretty good.”
