Chapter Text
Tobirama flips through the interview with Vanity Fair, admiring the line of Izuna's throat in one of the shots.
Kakashi's work is always excellent, and he has a marvellous eye for what will flatter someone that keeps the fashion houses chasing after him despite his passion for candid street photography. When he finally agrees to do a showing and makes the jump from commercial photography to artist, there will be people from New York to Milan who will be gnashing their teeth at losing him.
At the same time, there's not really any way to make Izuna look bad in Tobirama's admittedly biased opinion, and he settles in to read the article. It starts off as the usual publicity stuff, something of a puff piece, but it takes a turn towards the personal he wasn't expecting, and Tobirama finds himself engrossed in the writing.
It's also why he almost spits his coffee all over the page half way through.
Despite being famously known as single, Izuna broke this reporter's heart when he laughingly admitted he now has a boyfriend. Asked about how they met, he cheerfully reminisced, "oh, he stabbed me."
Seeing my shock at the admission, he followed it up with a wink. "In the heart, of course."
Which is how I came to find out that the new Naruto Movie: The Fourth War had a secret cast romance - Uchiha Izuna and cult fan favourite Senju Tobirama who, despite killing Izuna on screen in one of the most heartbreaking scenes of what is shaping up to be the most anticipated action film of the year, are now sharing an LA apartment.
"He's really very sweet," Izuna confides. "Don't tell him, but he's the love of my life."
"Izuna!" Tobirama flings the magazine at the other end of the couch in embarrassment. "You didn't!"
"I didn't what?" Izuna sticks his head into the room, pulling off his headphones. "What's going on?"
"Vanity Fair." Tobirama hides his face in his hands, unable to look at his boyfriend. "You outed us in Vanity Fair."
"Oh really?" Izuna grabs the magazine and flips through it rapidly. "Oh hey, Kakashi got my good side!"
"You don't have a bad side, and don't change the subject!" Tobirama grabs his boyfriend in a hug. "Izuna, why."
"You told me I could out us whenever I wanted," Izuna looks up at him guilelessly and Tobirama knows it's a lie - he knows it - but he wants to kiss that mouth anyway. "And besides, I figured it was more classy than starting a fight on Twitter because people were speculating that you're Sasuke's new boyfriend."
"Twitter." Tobirama can already feel the impending doom. "Izuna."
"Which I also did." Izuna smiles sunnily and Tobirama lunges for his phone.
Scrolling through the million missed calls and unanswered texts from Anija, he pulls up Twitter and yes, there it is, a tweet from Izuna's account containing photographs of his last five Starbucks orders, the amount of espresso in each clearly visible.
No wonder Anija is blowing up his phone, there's definitely a lecture about his caffeine intake incoming.
At the same time, Tobirama knows what he has to do.
He doesn't have much of a social media presence, preferring to leave publicity to the people in charge of the projects he's involved in, but he can do it even if he isn't used to it. Lifting his phone he takes a quick snap of Izuna, soft and gorgeous, haloed in the afternoon light that falls through the windows, and appends it to a reply tweet.
'Love of my life, and yet still not above telling on me to my brother for unwise drinking choices,' he captions it, sending it off with a rueful smile.
The notification dings on Izuna's phone and he watches his lover open it with anticipation.
The way Izuna's eyes brighten is everything he hoped it would be, and he laughs as he's tackled back onto the couch.
Yeah, they're gonna be just fine.
