Chapter Text
Fuyumi wasn’t stupid.
Of course she could see that her dad was acting differently than normal. Ever since that Thursday he was acting weird, and the couple days prior to that he was almost completely absent (Not that unusual but in combination with his behaviour it was concerning). She came home that day to him playing a board game, supposedly by himself. Fuyumi liked to think she knew her father well enough to say that he wouldn’t do that just for fun. Also, him taking days off? Voluntarily? Yeah no, something was definitely going on.
Still, Fuyumi wasn’t the one to pry into other people’s business (Though it was kinda tempting, sometimes), that would be very impolite and disrespectful. Her dad was allowed to have his own privacy. So she just went on with her life. Sometimes things moved, just slightly from where she put them down even when her dad wasn’t at home. She shrugged it off, no matter how uncomfortable it made her feel. Though she couldn’t stop her mind from wandering.

Apparently trying to live in a house while also hiding from the people in that house was kinda hard. Touya mostly stayed inside his room, often coming out when his sister was at work or deep into the night. Though sometimes he snuck around when she was up and about (He was absolutely not seeking it out). He was still a bit nervous about his siblings finding out that he’s alive, he’s glad it went surprisingly well with dad.

Fuyumi never really had problems with sleeping. But even so, she still had the occasional sleepless night. Like now. She just slid out of bed to go to the kitchen for some tea, hopefully that’d help. The last thing she expected while walking through the dark hallways was to turn a corner only to collide with another body. Obviously not her father’s, as they had a vastly different figure and height.
They both let out a soft sound of surprise. It wasn’t that loud but still, dad was there within a minute. He was either a very light sleeper or he was dead to the world. it depended on the day and there was no in between. The man(?) just quickly shuffled behind Enji, into his shadow. Their forehead pressing against the larger’s back and their hand twisting to hold a firm grip on Enji’s shirt, in a weirdly specific way that felt oddly familiar to Fuyumi. She was startled at the whole situation, Though not as shocked as she probably should’ve been. So this person was why dad was acting weird.
She was quiet for a long moment, she eventually managed to pull herself out of her racing thoughts. “...Who’s that, dad?” She asked, as politely as she could of course. It was quite dark so she couldn’t fully see the person behind her father. “This is.. Dabi, he’ll be staying here for the foreseeable future.” Her dad responded, shuffling slightly. Fuyumi’s eyes widened. What. “Dabi…,” She mumbled quietly, “as in the villain?” Now that she knew what she was looking for she could see the slightly darker outline of the man’s scars in the dark. Fuyumi was definitely panicking, her mind racing. Though she tried to keep herself calm and tried to think reasonably. Dad would never allow a villain to run free without a really good reason, let alone let the villain touch him. There was definitely a good explanation for this, there had to be.
“Yes, how about we go sit in the living room for a moment, so we can explain.” Enji replied, staying as calm as he could. Though he too, was a little thrown off by the sudden situation.
A little later the three of them were sitting in the living room, hot tea settled on the coffee table in front of them. Enji and Touya sat on the couch while Fuyumi sat in one of the recliners opposite to them. “So, what’s going on? Why is one of the villains that attacked Shoto’s class in our house?” The man in question flinched at the sentence while dad just sighed. “Well, as you know, this is former League of Villains member Dabi. He’s here.. on a sort of probation, kinda. It is confirmed that he was forced to become a villain, so he was allowed to go without an actual prison sentence.” He explained.
Fuyumi was quiet for a few minutes, clearly deep in thought. “And, uh, why is he here specifically? Surely there are other places he could stay at. More suitable places.” She replied eventually, tilting her head just the slightest bit to the right. A habit seemingly none of the Todorokis could get rid off.
“Yeah… about that…” Dabi mumbled quietly, running a hand through his, now, pure white hair. Though that automatically resolved into light tugging of the hair, nothing too bad at least. “Quit that.” Enji said, swatting the younger’s hand away. Dabi just clicked his tongue and let his hand fall back to his side. Before eventually leaning forward a bit and holding out his hand, deciding to just rip the bandage off. That was the easiest way, wasn’t it.
“Let me properly introduce myself. My name’s Touya Todoroki. I’m twenty-three, almost twenty-four actually. I like soba, cold weather and stars. I don’t like places with lots of people and summer.” The young man said, getting absolutely no reply at all. Ah well, that was to be expected.
Fuyumi completely blanked out the moment she heard the name come out of the male’s mouth, a deep pit settling in her stomach. Touya Todoroki. She’s pretty sure she sat there in shock for at least 15 minutes before even uttering a word. Her mind having a hard time processing what was happening.
Now she wasn’t that naive to just blindly believe what someone claimed, especially not when a criminal claimed to be her supposedly dead brother.. But it made sense. It all just clicked into place. Why they didn’t have a body(or at least remains of one) to bury. Why the boy was staying here and not anywhere else. Why the young man seemed so familiar to her, his eyes, the hair, the mannerisms (she should’ve known). And the fact that her dad wasn’t denying any of it.
-
“Is it my fault? Is she okay?” Touya asked softly, tilting his head slightly. “I didn’t mean for it to come off as sardonic or mocking.” He muttered, frowning a little. “You’re fine. I’m pretty sure that’s not the problem, Touya.” His dad replied, “She probably just needs a minute.” “It’s been a minute , dad. In fact it-”
“Touya-nii.” Her voice was barely any louder than a whisper but it was something. Touya was happy that she at least said something. “‘Yumi.” He just said in acknowledgement. Touya had not even a second before having his arms full of crying sister, not that he blamed her. After all, that would make him a hypocrite, he too felt tears running down his cheeks. He just held her tightly, burying his face into her shoulder.
Fuyumi’s crying wasn’t loud, neither of theirs were. Old habits die hard. Their loudest being some occasional, soft sniffles. So they sat there at ass o’clock, holding each other tightly. Fuyumi held her brother like he was gonna disappear if she let go (fair enough). And Touya catching up on over a decade of lost sibling affection. All while Enji just smiled softly, his heart aching at the sight of his children.
Eventually they both fell asleep, leaning against their father. Luckily Fuyumi didn’t have to go to work in the morning.
