“So let me get this straight,” said Tails.
Right after reading the note Shadow had given him, he beelined to Tails’s room, banging on the door.
“He came here 45 minutes ago, gave you shoes and a love note?”
Sonic nodded vigorously.
Sonic was overjoyed. He couldn’t believe Shadow had feelings for him!
On the day he planned on confessing, he was expecting a hard no. And possibly a beating.
And now he’s sitting here, ranting to his brother about a boy. He’s never felt more like a teenage girl more than he does now.
Tails raised an eyebrow.
“I mean, I have to admit, this is a well executed love letter.”
“Right!? It made my face burn!!”
Tails frowned.
“What..?” Tails said in confusion.
Sonic shook his head, moving his hands wildly.
“I meant I was blushing really hard.”
Tails nodded in understanding.
“I see. So, what did you say?”
Sonic tilted his head in question.
“What do you mean?”
“What was your response to his letter..?”
Sonic gulped. He had just got the letter! He wasn’t going to just respond immediately.
Tails took his not-so-subtle gulp and silence as an answer. He shook his head in disapproval.
Sonic truly had no idea what Tails expected of him. As previously stated, he just got the dang note.
“I planned on texting him tomorrow..?”
Tails raised an eyebrow. Seriously, what is his deal?
“What do you expect from me, Tails? I just got the letter!”
Tails rolled his eyes as he flipped the letter over, examining the beauty of it. Sonic couldn’t believe the quality of the note. Thats Shadow for you.
Suddenly, a smug grin exploded onto to Tails’s face. He looked up and Sonic, gently setting down the note.
Sonics eyebrows furrowed. What was Tails thinking..?
“I think you should go over there.” Tails smiled as he crossed his arms knowingly.
Sonics eyes widened. What was Tails talking about? He can’t just run to Shadows house at this hour!
Sonic shook his head vigorously.
“Why would I do that? It’s late in the night, Tails. He probably asleep or something.”
Tails raised an eyebrow.
Sonic sighed, knowing he couldn’t possibly say no to Tails without being pestered for 30 minutes straight.
Tails’s grin grew wider as he nodded. He made a shooing motion with his hands, telling Sonic to go now.
Sonic groaned.
“Do I have to..?”
Tails’s silence was all Sonic needed.
Sonic groaned once more as he moped onto his room, feet sagging behind him as he trudged along.
Once he reached his room he went to his closet for a jacket to cover up his pajamas. He’s too lazy to change for this. He put on his slippers and took a deep breath before exiting his room to leave the house.
Once outside, he slipped his hood on and ran to Shadow’s house.

As soon as Shadow had blipped back into his house, Rouge began bombarding him with dozens of questions. He shoved her off of him and took off his shoes, padding over to the couch and flopping down, releasing a breath he had no idea he had been holding captive inside.
Rouge sped walked over to him and plopped into the space beside Shadow on the couch. She rested her cheek on her hand as she turned to look at Shadow with a smirk.
“So…how’d it go?”
Shadow stayed silent as he rolled his eyes. Rouge frowned. She moved to begin shaking Shadow, whining.
“C’mon, Shadow, don’t be like that! I was the one who gave you the idea, you have to tell me if my plan worked!!”
Eventually, Shadow gave in, shoving Rouge off of him as he sighed, sitting up to begin telling her what happened.
Rouge squealed in excitement as she settled in, summoning a glass of wine out of nowhere.
Shadow took a breath in as he began explaining.
“I knocked, he opened the door, I gave him the box and Chaos Controlled away.”
The silence was loud.
Rouge’s eyebrows furrowed as her smiled faded into a frown.
“That’s it..?”
Shadow looked over at her in confusion. He nodded and Rouge set down her wine glass and groaned, dragging a hand down her face.
“What? Did you expect some grand love story to just play out?
Rouge shook her head in disappointment.
“I honestly have no idea.”
All of a sudden, Rouge looked up at him with an angry expression etched onto her face.
Shadow knew what was coming.

Shadow still sat, hand resting on his cheek as Rouge lectured him. It had to have been at least 40 minutes or so. He wondered sometimes why he chose to become friends with her.
Knock, Knock, Knock.
A soft knock came from the door and Rouge abruptly shut her mouth. Shadow silently thanked the stranger behind the door.
Rouge looked at the door then back at him. She crossed her arms as she began speaking.
“You gonna get that?”
Shadow rolled his eyes as he stood up, padding over to the door. He looked through the peep hole and froze. A vibrant blue quill was visible through the hole.
Shadow hurriedly opened to door and his eyes widened.
Sonic stood there, hands fidgeting in front of him as he looked up. He was breathing heavily.
“Sonic..?” Shadow said as he looked him up and down slowly, smiling as he examined his outfit. He looked adorable with his pjs on.
Suddenly, Sonic stepped up, grabbing Shadows face and pressing their lips together.
Shadows eyes were as wide as they possibly could be as he stood there, frozen.
Sonic released him, his breath blowing onto Shadows face as he stood there for a moment before backing up.
“Shadow..I-“
Shadow gave him no time to speak as he surged forward and crashed their lips together. The kiss was soft. Warm. Unspoken feelings were being exchanged. Feelings that had been held together in a tight cage for far too long.
Sonic wrapped his arms around Shadow’s neck, Shadow gripping Sonics waist. They deepened the kiss, Shadow moving his head a little to kiss Sonic a bit more comfortably.
Suddenly, a flash broke them apart, Shadow spinning around in annoyance, already knowing who the culprit was.
There stood Rouge, phone in hand, caught mid photo. She stood there with a smirk on her face as she lowered her phone.
“Looks like things are getting heated over here. Sorry for interrupting..”
Shadow groaned as he released Sonics waist, turning to face him.
Sonic stood there, looking conflicted. Like he wanted to say something.
“Shadow..do you..uhm. Want to be my, I guess, boyfriend..?”
Shadow gave him a warm smile, nodding as he surged forward to envelop Sonic in a warm embrace.
Sonic reciprocated, wrappings his arms around him, grinning.
Shadow couldn’t express how happy he was at this very moment.
