Chapter Text
Kyle was out doing some shopping for his mom, Sandra, who was busy at work. He really didn’t mind, but why did she need so many waters. The cases of water have to be like 30 pounds each! Either that or Kyle is weak, but he is gonna say that it’s just too heavy. Kyle’s back is starting to hurt with all the weight.
“Need any help with those?” A voice asked from behind Kyle, causing him to drop the jug of water he was holding. Luckily for him, Captain Marvel caught it in the nick of time. Wait… Captain Marvel? Kyle looked at the man again, and yes it is the man himself. The Big Red Cheese is someone he never thought he would see. He remembers his mom talking about him a bit, but nothing major.
“I-I would love some help Captain Marvel sir!” Kyle stammered out, clearly nervous to be talking to such a famous figure in Fawcett. Captain Marvel toned down his smile to a gentle one, reaching for some of the bags Kyle was holding. “T-Thanks.”
“Anytime! Now where are we headed? Gotta know where we are taking this now don’t we?” Captain Marvel joked, trying to lighten the air from the awkwardness that had grasped it. Kyle nodded, now remembering that he forgot where they should be going to in his star struck stupor. Maybe he will remember after walking for a bit.
“So I heard about you from my mom, Sandy. Do you remember her?” Kyle asked, a dull look on his face as though he doesn’t expect the superhero to remember. But despite his expectations, Captain Marvel quickly smashed them all by lighting up, very clearly remembering her.
“Of course I remember Sandy! Is she doing okay? Does she need anything?” Kyle blinked in shock, not expecting the rapid fire questions. Captain Marvel saw the shock in his face, and looked a bit clammed up. “Sorry, I’m just a bit worried for her, she had a bit of a startle last month.”
“Thanks for your concern, but she is doing fine, even better than she used to be. And I have a feeling you are the reason for that.” Kyle complemented, realizing why his mom likes the Captain. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of protectiveness watching Captain Marvel stumble a bit with his words.
“It’s nothing really, now should we head on our way? I believe that Sandy wants this water sooner rather than later.” Captain Marvel deflected, clearly blushing. Kyle couldn’t help himself, he patted Marvel’s shoulder. Marvel looked up, feeling even more flustered.
“Of course, let’s be on our way.” Kyle comforted, clearly amused by Captain Marvel’s display of human emotions, something he didn’t think the Captain had. They began on their journey, this time going in the correct direction.
He has a feeling he would want to protect this hero, forevermore.
