Chapter Text
It's been a few months since Duke joined their ever growing ‘batfamily’ as he had once called it. Dick's glad he's settling in somewhat decently, of course given what happened to his parents Dick thinks Duke has been taking it incredibly well.
Dick had insisted on a movie night at Wayne Manor with everyone, it's incredibly rare to find all the kids in the manor at once, but tonight just so happens to be one of those nights, and Dick is happy to sleep knowing all his siblings are in the same house.
Until he's woken up by a loud crash from the kitchen. He groaned and checked the time. 4:37am. He decided to go down stairs and tell off whatever sibling decided to wake him up.
When he got to the kitchen, he found Jason and Steph, not in pyjamas (did they even go to bed??) Sitting on the kitchen counter, eating ice cream straight out of the tub.
“Oh! Hey Dick.” Steph said, ignoring his bedraggled appearance. “We were just talking about you.”
“You were talking about me?” He asked, “Also, what the fuck was with the bang?”
“Oh Steph laughed so hard that she fell off the counter.” Jason responded.
“Well, baby Jason attacking Bruce is hilarious." Steph added.
Dick sighed. “Are you alright?”
“Totally.”
“Good. But really, you fell off the counter laughing at Jason attacking Batman? He's been doing that for years.”
“Sure, but he was like ten, sooo.” She started. Dick does remember that. He was there. “Turns out we both met you before becoming part of the… what did you call it again? The Batfamily?” Ah, so that's what they were talking about.
“Huh, yeah I guess you have.” He replied. He actually remembered both of them from before.
“Yeah I have too actually.” A voice said from outside of the room. Tim, also still in clothes, because of course he's not gone to bed either. “I was just heading to bed and heard you talking. I remember meeting Dick at some gala when I was like nine, it was actually the most enjoyable a gala has ever been.” He continued, leaning against the counter next to where Steph was sitting.
Of course, how could Dick forget? “Yeah, that's when you admitted to me you knew our identity. I still don't understand how you managed that.”
Tim shrugged and grabbed a spoon to steal ice cream from Steph. She was about to protest when someone else walked into the room.
“Hey Duke. Sorry we woke you up.” At least someone in this family was asleep.
“No, it's fine. Whatcha talking about?” He asked, still a little sleepy.
“Apparently everyone here has met Dick when we were younger. You got any stories to share?” Tim asked.
Duke looked thoughtful for a moment. “My parents told me that I was kidnapped once when I was a toddler, but Batman and Robin rescued me. I have no memory of it, obviously, but my parents were super worried.” His expression turned sombre, and everyone gave him a reassuring smile.
“I actually do remember that, a little vividly because how long ago it was, but I remember taking you to the park for whatever reason.”
“Ok but nothing could beat the time I got involved in a shooting and Dick tried to interrogate me. Horribly.” Jason chimed in.
“Alright but you were clearly traumatized so I couldn't actually interrogate you.”
“Fair enough.”
Cass and Damian both appeared in the doorway, one more furious about being woken up than the other.
“What are you imbeciles doing awake at 5:00am!?”
“Hello to you too Damian. Cass” Tim responded. Damian furrowed his brows further and Cass waved.
“Don't tell me you both have stories about meeting Dick too?” Steph asked.
Cass nodded “Titans.” Dick suspected Cass recognized him, thankfully she never brought it up when she saw him again. Her response was vague enough that no one thought too much into it.
Damian, however, shook his head. “No, I have never met Richard before living with father.”
“Awh really?” Duke asked.
“Actually you have, during a conflict with Talia, you were just… asleep.” Dick offered.
“I would have woken up.”
“Yeah but there was some kind of sleeping gas involved. You were also like five.” Damian simply crossed his arms.
The seven talked for a bit before a new voice entered the room. “What's all the commotion about?”
“You'll never believe it, B. All of us have met Dick before you took us in.” Tim replied.
“That sounds interesting, when it's not 5:30. Everyone into bed, come on, let's go.” Various groans could be heard throughout the room.
“Everyone here are adults apart from Duke and Damian. And we don't even live here, We can do what we want!” Jason said, sounding offended.
“You are all under my roof, you go to bed at a reasonable hour. Yes Tim, even you. Upstairs, goodnight.”
“And because Alfred told you to go to bed and take us with you?”
“Perhaps.”
Dick laughed and hurried his sibling upstairs to bed, picking Damian up when he complained about ‘not being a child’ and ‘only the weak have curfews, he was asleep earlier because he chose to be’ or whatever. And he thought to himself how happy he is to have siblings like them.
