Description: SCP-7999 was a circular rug. It was approximately 100 centimeters in diameter, and constructed of acrylic yarn. The rug was primarily pink in coloration, but was decorated with a white stylized smiling face.

Prior to its neutralization, any written or verbal communication attempting to describe SCP-7999 would invariably have its vocabulary altered to resemble SCP-7999's original sales pitch, a copy of which is transcribed below. After prolonged exposure to a physical location or online network, this effect had the potential to spread to all communication within said area or network, regardless of its relevance to SCP-7999.

SCP-7999 was first listed for sale on the website of the figurine and merchandise company Youtooz in early 2020; the page describing SCP-7999 was taken down after Foundation intervention in May. There is no evidence that any copies of SCP-7999 were ever produced or sold. The only instance that existed was a prototype produced by Youtooz, which was acquired by the Foundation shortly after its anomalous properties came to light. After questioning, the Youtooz company staff was collectively amnesticized.

It is theorized that SCP-7999 was created, commissioned, or designed by SCP-7777, and that it was purposefully employed by said anomaly to facilitate a large-scale containment breach at Site-424.

Addendum 1: Original sales description

Addendum 2: Incident Log ██/██/████

On ██/██/████, the effects of SCP-7999 began to spread at an exponentially faster rate throughout the Foundation database, as well as to the personnel of Site-424. This resulted in a complete breakdown of communication, coordination and order at the Site, as well as an inability to call for external help, as personnel were unable to express any sentiments to each other besides echoing the sales pitch of SCP-7999.

In the midst of this incident, SCP-7777, Junior Researcher Karl Jacobs (employing SCP-7340), and several other unidentified individuals entered Site-424, utilizing unknown anomalous means to bypass security measures. The group proceeded to move through the Site while using Jacobs' and Dr. Connor Pants' security credentials to open the containment cells of all humanoid anomalies contained within. Of the group, an individual later identified as PoI-7251-1 opened the containment locker for SCP-7251 and placed the item on his head, gaining its ontokinetic properties and utilizing them to assist in the ongoing containment breach.

Researcher Phil Watson was seen approaching the storage locker for SCP-7999 carrying a blowtorch, seemingly with the intention of neutralizing the item to restore order. However, for unknown reasons he ceased this action before reaching the locker, dropped the blowtorch, and instead moved to assist in the containment breach using his high-level security credentials and knowledge of Site workings. Site Director Sam Warden eventually reached SCP-7999 himself and lit the object on fire, destroying it, thereby ceasing its anomalous properties and restoring communications throughout the Site. However, by this time, the containment breach had reached an advanced enough stage that all efforts to suppress it failed.

Nearly all humanoid anomalies contained at Site-424 have escaped from Foundation custody. These include SCP-7007-2, SCP-7081, SCP-7171, and SCP-7336. Staff also failed to recontain SCP-7777, and SCP-7251 was removed from the site by PoI-7251-1. Dr. Pants, Researcher Watson, Junior Researcher Jacobs, and Researcher Floris Fundy have disappeared following the incident.

SCP-7999 has been reclassified as Neutralized. Efforts to locate and recontain the escaped anomalies are in progress.

Addendum 3: Recovered document

The following is a transcription of a handwritten note found by the main entrance of Site-424 following the above incident. It is presumed to be written by SCP-7777 and directed towards the Foundation.
