Simon Quit Kicking Rocky

Chapter 22

Notes:

First Erid chapter, yippee! I'm excited to write out the shenanigans.

Stratt's liver is safe, for now.

Also if anyone wants to do fanart of this, I'm cool with it as long as I'm credited.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

It takes a few weeks before Stratt allows the information to be released to the public. Stratt is wondering if this is karma for forcing Grace to go on the Hail Mary. Of course he would find a way to give her a headache from light years away.

-

The video starts up to show a bright area, the area is a bit cluttered, but you can recognize the majority of items in the room. The camera moves a bit as someone grabs it, and it shows Grace. He looks a bit older here, not by much, and he looks relaxed and happy. “Oh good, it's working.” Simon appears in the background. Both men are dressed differently, although Grace is still wearing his signature fox cardigan.

Simon is wearing deep blue harem pants with lighter blue accents that almost look like waves, the fabric shimmers a bit in a way that fabric on Earth doesn't tend to do. Simon also isn't wearing a shirt, so it's easier to see on him the effects of starvation and coming back from it. You can see the same on Grace, but not as well due to his clothes. Both men are also wearing bits of jewelry that look similar to the ceremonial garb Rocky has worn in a previous log.

Grace smiles at the camera as he finishes fiddling with it before setting it down. “Hello Earth! I’m so glad we were able to get this set up, the Eridians were insistent on us filing this to send back on the beetle they made.” Simon sits down next to Grace, nudging him to make sure he stays on track. “Right, so some of the Eridians are working on a way to establish an internet connection between Erid and Earth. So we should be able to chat better pretty soon here.”

Grace goes on for a bit, explaining what the Eridians are doing and going into how he and Simon are doing. Every now and then Simon will add a bit. “...So that's about it, there should be another log on the beetle we sent. It'll be a tour of the biodome Adrian and the other Eridians worked on building for us.” The log ends soon after with Grace waving at the camera.

-

The camera starts up to show a rocky beach. Both men are still wearing the same clothes from the last log, though Simon is wearing a shirt this time. The area looks a lot like a rocky beach you'd expect to find on Earth. Grace waves at the camera, smiling excitedly. “Hey guys! We're going on a tour of the biodome!”

Grace talks excitedly about all the work that's been put into the biodome as he shows the different areas, including what's going to be his teaching area once it's all set up. Occasionally Simon will take the camera from Grace so he can use both hands to show some things off. Grace also goes into some of the projects Adrian is working on for the biodome.

Halfway through the tour, Rocky appears, wearing his form-fitting xenonite suit. There is no translator for Rocky, but one of the employees has figured out how to translate and put the translation up on screen for the viewers. The tour ends back at the house that's been built for Grace and Simon. “This has been a lot of fun and I can't wait for a, hopefully, better established communication.” Grace waves goodbye at the camera right as Rocky launches himself at Simon in the background. Grace turns around and tries to stop the two from wrestling.

-

The two logs break the internet, because communication between two planets light years away from each other is potentially happening very soon here. Of course people latch onto the shirtless Simon. This causes Stratt to try and find the vodka again, at least she knows Grace isn't dead yet. And she'll hopefully be able to get some answers out of him about Simon, he never gave an answer for where Simon came from.

Notes:

I love reading all your comments, even if I don't exactly respond to them. Legit the only people I really talk to are people I already know IRL, and even then I'm shit with messaging. I get more anxiety communicating via phone than in person.

Notes:

I don't know anything about science, so if I ever update this, there will likely be more crappy sciencey stuff.

Also any spelling mistakes are between me, God, and my google doc.
