Chapter Text

He was falling.

There must be something he can do? Some spell, incantation, anything! He couldn’t think of anything, it was like his mind had gone blank, as if the book written in his mind had been erased.

The boy started to cry as he tried to think of a spell that could save him, but anytime he closed his eyes the only image that came up was his brother.

He can’t die here! Not yet, he still had so much to show Wemmbu!

The child felt his breathing start to falter, a normal effect of falling into the void. He would die soon, surely The Watchers had taught him something that could save him?

The teleportation spell.

The boy opened his eyes and brought his hands together, he started to whisper the spell and closed his eyes. There was magic accumulating in his hands, he would barely have any after this, but that would mean nothing if he was dead.

His siblings had taught him this spell when he was seven years old, they had told him not to use it too much, and he wasn’t that good at it. But it would have to do.

They’re probably looking for him right now, did they see him fall? He hopes they didn’t. They tend to lock him in his room when he gets in dangerous situations. Like that time he poked one of his eyes on accident.

His hands had started to shake and his thoughts were swirling a little bit. Then, he felt a shift in the atmosphere.

Next thing he knew, he was laying on the ground with what he’s pretty sure was a broken leg. He started to cry and scream for his siblings, even though he knew they all had horrible hearing.

He heard footsteps coming closer to him and looked up, expecting one of The Watchers to have seen him. But he was greeted with the unfamiliar face of a voidling. He only knew what they were because one of his sisters was a voidling.

The Watchers had never really taught him anything about the outside world.

The child of the void crouched down close to him and studied him with their shiny white eyes.

“Are you alright?” They had asked, probably a man, if he was to go by voice alone.

The child shook his head and crawled closer to the man, that of which quickly brought the boy closer and inspected his leg. He made a humming sound and picked the boy up before getting up.

The little boy clung to the man and sobbed in his shoulder, he wanted his brother, what had happened to him?

The man carried the child inside of what was presumably his house, he brought the child inside one of the rooms and laid him on the bed. He left the room and returned a moment later with a healing potion, bandages and a piece of wood.

He sat down next to the boy’s leg and lightly touched it, the boy whimpered and twitched. The voidling nodded and pulled away.

“It seems to be a clean break, hold still I’m going to put it in place.” Said the man, he put his hands on either side of the child’s leg and, as gently as possible, pushed the bone together.

The boy screamed his lungs out, he had never felt that much pain in his life. The Watchers would have never let him get hurt.

The man quickly poured the healing potion over the boy’s leg and then proceeded to wrap the injury up with the bandages.

“I’m gonna go get some ice, don’t move.” Said the voidling as he got up and left the room.

The boy sat up and looked around, he seemed to be in a guest room, considering the lack of furniture except for the bed he’s sitting on and a drawer. He wonders how far away from home he teleported to.

His siblings must be very worried. He hopes nothing happened to his brother, he would never be able to forgive himself.

Everything is going to be fine, he will let his leg heal and then he will find a way to go home, maybe the nice voidling guy can help? He’ll have to see.

The man returned a few minutes later with a pack of ice and a towel, he wrapped up the ice with the towel and laid it over the child’s leg.

“I believe I forgot to introduce myself, I am MinuteTech, but just Minute is fine.” Said the voidling with a small smile on his face. “What is your name, little one?”

The boy stayed silent for a second, debating if he should tell that to the stranger. He eventually decided that the man had been nice enough to know that information.

“I’m Eggchan.”

“Dad! Can we go to the Overworld again?!” Screamed the enthusiastic fourteen year old, the boy had grown a lot in the last years, almost being as tall as Minute now.

The voidling thought about it for some time. The last time they had gone to the Overworld was a few months ago because Egg wanted to go to a library. The boy had taken a big liking to the books accessible in the Overworld.

Minute shrugged and got up from the chair he was sitting on. “Sure, we can make a small trip, we can’t stay long though, I still need to guard The End.” The man said with a smile on his lips. “Where did you want to go?”

Egg smiled wide and started telling Minute about a bunch of things he had read about and wanted to try out. It would be impossible to do all of them so they eventually settled on a few.

They started to walk towards a village the moment that they walked out of the portal, their first stop was a hair salon, because Eggchan had gotten bored of the purple in his hair… the white too to be honest.

Minute talked to the hairdresser for a few minutes before letting Egg explain to her how he wanted his hair done.

They walked out of there with a few less diamonds to their name and a teenager with a blue fringe and with the back of his hair mostly red.

“Was the red necessary?” Asked the boy’s father, eyeing the blood red color on his son’s hair.

“Duh! Doesn’t it look cooler now?” He said while spinning around, hair flowing everywhere, which was a normal occurrence since the angel refused to cut his hair.

“Come here, I’ll tie your hair up for you.” Minute said while taking two blue hair bands. The boy quickly backtracked and stood still with his back to the man.

Minute took two chunks of Egg’s hair and tied them up in pigtails.

“There, now your hair isn’t hitting the ground anymore.” He said, clearly proud of his work.

The boy giggled and continued to walk ahead of his father.

Today was going great!

~//~

He had never seen snow before! Minute had never taken him to a snowy biome in all the time he’s lived with him, and his siblings wouldn’t even let him go to the Overworld.

He had been spending the whole time playing around with the snow, his dad had forced him to put on more heavy clothing, of course. So now he was just making snowballs and throwing them at random things he found, like a tree, or the rabbit that had passed by earlier!

Everything was going great until he saw a cave in a little hill.

He walked up to the entrance and looked around in curiosity, he was just going to ignore it at first but then he saw him.

It couldn’t be.

But it had to be, nobody had that same purple skin and hair.

So, he said it, after so many years of not speaking his brother’s name outloud, the name felt strange to his tongue. Like a forbidden spell that he wasn’t supposed to say.

“Wemmbu?” His wings shrunk around him as he said that word. He never thought he would say it again.

Then those eyes were staring at him, and he felt so much happiness, maybe Wemmbu would come home with him, he would meet Minute and they would live happily ever after!

Then his brother turned away from him, and that hope shattered. Egg only noticed what spell Wemmbu was doing when it was too late.

“Wait! Stop, please! Don’t leave me!” Screamed the angel as he ran to his brother, but the younger boy disappeared before Egg could reach him.

The boy fell to his knees and hugged himself tightly, tears streaming down his face.

How ironic. The same spell that once saved the angel had just taken his brother away from him.

Fate was truly one cruel being.

Notes:

Congrats guys! You all finally get the Egg POV.

(Can I tell y'all a secret? The original plan was to kill Egg off when he fell down, but one of my beta readers convinced me not to do it lol)
