What is going on?
9:15 AM
Pluto: I have a lot of confused
Pluto: Morella and Berenice?
Duke: Just roll with it minou
Eulalie: i think they're girlfriends! :3
Eulalie: Morella and Bee, that is
Pluto: But
Pluto: But they're both the same sex
Pluto: Is that not a sin? I’m not very religious but I know that much
Eulalie: i’ve never cared about that. It seems like an awful thing to resent somebody for
Pluto: I mean!! I don’t think Berenice and Morella are bad people for being homosexuals!
Pluto: It's just
Pluto: I don't know
Duke: No, continue. I wanna know what you believe./span>
Pluto: I
Pluto: Isn't it strange?
Duke: I mean, we’re dead anyway, so what’s the harm?
Eulalie: yes, and even in life I think that people should love who they want to!
Duke: Agreed, I never really had an opinion about that old argument that it was sinful or whatver. I'm not religious, anyways
Eulalie: pluto, could I talk to you some more about, uh “homosexuality” as you put it?
Eulalie: pluto?
Duke: He's not in our dorm, I'm here now
Duke: The weird tracker thing says he's under the boy's dorm stairwell
Eulalie: meet u there duke! <3 i'm gonna use my amazing persuasion skills to make everything better >:3
“Pluto?”
Pluto jerked up at the sound of Eulalie’s voice, making an immediate attempt to wipe the tears from his face, although he doubted that did anything to help the puffy mess that was his eyes.
“I’m- um, down here,” he mumbled, burying his chin in his arms, which were crossed over his knees.
He was seated below the curling staircase that led up to the boys dorms, tucked in a corner. He really should have considered a different hiding spot. He felt like a caged animal as Eulalie walked over and sat down next to his left.
“How did you find me?” Pluto asked, knowing the answer before she even said it.
“Location tracker.”
“Oh,” he said dumbly.
The two sat in silence for about a minute before Eulalie spoke again.
“I’m- we’re not angry.”
“I think my dad lied to me.”
Eulalie hummed in agreement.
“I think a lot of people did. To all of us.”
Pluto blinked away some more tears and hid his face more.
“Minou? Soleil?”
Duke poked his head over the railing above them, grinning when Pluto looked up.
“Ah, there you are.”
There was the sound of footsteps above them followed by Duke approaching and sitting down on Pluto’s right side.
“Hi, Duke,” Eulalie said, smiling softly.
“I’m sorry,” Pluto blurted out. “And don’t say I shouldn’t be. I- I think I was scared.”
“Eh, that’s fair. It’s scary,” Duke said.
“Yeah,” Eulalie confirmed. “I mean, you go your whole life thinking one thing, and-”
“Not- not like that.”
Pluto took a deep breath. He’d spent his whole life letting himself be lied to, and look where that had gotten him. There was no point in wasting any more time.
“…I was scared that if I let myself believe that those feelings were okay, they could be… real. And that would mean…”
He trailed off, hoping that Duke or Eulalie would finish for him, even though he knew there was no chance of that. They were some of the most oblivious people Pluto had ever met.
“That you liked men?” Duke asked.
“A-and women,” Pluto stuttered out, not noticing Eulalie’s small sigh of relief at his words. “I think- at the same time. I mean, I think I can like more than one person.”
“Me, too.”
Eulalie smiled sweetly as Pluto turned to her in surprise. “I don’t really care whether whoever I like is a man or a woman. I just like them for them, and I think I can like more than one person at a time as well.”
“Oui, moi aussi, j’pense,” Duke said, nodding. “I do too,” he translated when Pluto and Eulalie looked at him in confusion. “I was never raised to care about that much. I guess I just never grew out of it.”
“You two don’t know how glad I am to hear that.”
Pluto took a deep breath, hyping himself up and trying to hyperventilate as he spoke his next words.
“Now I can ask this.”
He fidgeted slightly in his spot, keeping his head down while he asked, “Can I kiss you?”
“Me?” Eulalie asked at the same time as Duke said “Moi?”
“Yes! I mean, both of you!”
“I- yeah!” Eulalie said, nodding as a smile slowly spread across her face.
Pluto grinned back, stammering awkwardly.
“Uh. Tha- that’s great!”
He and Eulalie stared at each other awkwardly in silence for about one second before she leaned towards him and gently pressed her lips onto his.
The two pulled apart after a few seconds, still grinning like idiots at each other in bewilderment. Pluto was about to ask if they could do it again, when Duke’s voice interrupted his train of thought that was Eulalie’s amazing.
“What, is your offer revoked now, minou?”
Pluto jumped a bit in surprise, making Eulalie giggle as Duke smirked, and God, they were both so pretty.
“Did you forget he was here, too?” Eulalie joked, making Pluto’s face heat up.
“You wound me, soleil,” Duke teased back. “I thought you both liked me. Guess not.”
Eulalie laughed again as Duke started to pretend to stand up.
“Well, I can tell when I’m not-oof!” Duke was cut off mid-sentence as Pluto grabbed on the edge of his sleeve and pulled him down roughly for a quick kiss on the lips as well before hiding his face in his coat to hide his blush.
“Pfft, there’s your answer, Duke,” Eulalie said teasingly.
“You’re just jealous,” Duke said before leaning in to kiss her as well, Eulalie acting very calm about it, hell, even pleased.
“Finally,” she said.
“Bloody- what?!” Pluto exclaimed, making his two friends (lovers? partners? …really good friends?) laugh.
It was strange- he usually hated when people just laughed at him instead of answering his question, but with Duke and Eulalie it felt… different in a way.
Not patronizing, but caring.
“What, you thought it was only you?” Duke teased.
“I- Yeah, kinda!”
“Bit self-centered, non?”
“I mean, the odds are pretty feckin’ low! I dunno! I didn’t think this through! I didn’t even know you guys would like… like me like that in the first place!”
“Well, maybe you should have considered that,” Eulalie said. “Seems like your amount of self-worth backfired.”
“Once again,” Pluto sighed.
“We really have to work on that, minou,” Duke said in a joking tone, although Pluto could tell by the look in his eyes that he was being dead serious.
“I mean, we have lots of time to figure it out,” Eulalie said, tilting her head up and putting a finger to her chin. “I’m pretty sure Lenore and Annabel have some sort of plan to get us all out of here instead of just having one person win the life. I heard them talking about it the other day in a broom closet.”
She smiled and turned back to Duke and Pluto, not seeming to notice their shocked expressions until the two burst out in confused exclamations.
“Wait, what?!”
“Q-Quoi?! Annabel Lee and Leo know each other?”
“Yeah?” Eulalie tilted her head in confusion like a puppy. “They’re dating. Or- something like that. It's complicated, I think. They weren’t just about to only let one of them get out of here. And Lenore wants to get us out too.”
She smiled sweetly, still not seeming to grasp the stunned looks on Duke and Pluto’s faces.
“So we can all get out of here together! We should all rent a house and start a ghost hunting club together!”
“Lenore and Annabel are dating????!!!!”
“Shit, did we try to kill Leo’s girlfriend, Duke?!”
"She tried to kill me first!"
