Chapter Text
And there he was. Tony freaking Stark. He was in a sleek 3 piece Tom Ford suit with his famous sunglasses on even though he was inside.
“Pretty cool, huh?”
Oh please don’t let the Parker Luck™ kick in right now. Please!
Tony walks up straight to Peter and puts a hand on his shoulder.
“What are you doing here?” Peter says.
“Oh I can’t visit my favorite intern?” Tony tisked.
“No! I mean—yes? But not right now.”
“Well, you get what you get and you don’t get upset, Pete!”
They were interrupted when Gwen approached Tony and Peter.
“Mr. Stark! How lovely it is to meet you!” she reached her hand out for a handshake.
“Ditto. Let’s get this field back on track, shall we…Gwen?”
“O-of course Mr. Stark! You lead the way!” she stammered.
“Alrighty then.” He walks to the front of the class and claps his hands. “This is where I work! Please don’t touch anything expensive, which is everything! Over there are finished past models of my suits, and over there on that table behind you is just stuff I’m fixing to pass time.”
A hand slowly raises from the back of the group “Um Mr. Stark?”
“A question! Enlighten me my friend.”
The kid shuffles towards the front, closer to Tony.
“Oh no, it’s Betty.” MJ whispers to Peter. “She’s probably going to act like she’s a journalist to Tony Stark.”
“Heh, probably.” he responded.
“She has goals! I respect that.” Ned defended.
Betty begins her round of questions.
“There’s sketches that looks like one of Spider-Man’s suits. Do you work with him? Do you know who he is or something?”
Peter feels like he just swallowed a dumb bell. He did not expect that. Now, he doesn’t want to do anything more than to leave this room. It’s not that he doesn’t trust Mr. Stark, it just scary to risk leaking his identity to literally anyone.
Who knows what could happen if it did.
Anyway, Tony lies perfectly about it like always. How does he do that?
“Well…what’s your name?”
“Betty”
“Well, Betty, I’ve just been interested in the masked hero in our city, so I came up with ideas on how his suit could look like.”
“Oh, okay, cool.” Betty said. “But have you ever met him though?”
“I have, once. He didn’t want to do anything to do with me. Too cool for school apparently.” Tony smirked.
The class laughed in response.
“Anyway” Tony claps his hands “who wants to see something cool?” he offered.
Everyone in the room raised their hand.
“Ha, thought so.” He walks to one of his work cabinets and pulls out what looks like a head from a suit Peter doesn’t recognize.
Tony raises it up to show everyone “This is a helmet from one of the very first suits I’ve ever made.” He walks up to the class and hands one of the kids the head. “Here, pass it around to keep yourselves busy.”
A collection of oohs and ahhs come from around the room as the helmet is passed around the to room.
Tony walked to Peter and brought him to the hall.
“I thought this would be more private than the walking circus in there” Tony said as he looked around the room.
“You wanted to talk to me?” Peter said.
“Right. May called me and said you wanted to stay here for the weekend after the trip, so I called the school and got it approved for you to stay here.”
Oh!
“Really? thanks! I really want to work on the suit more. I have some more ideas on what we could add to the Iron Spider. I could barely sleep this week because I kept writing ideas down. I was thinking we could maybe and webs underneath the arms for aerodynamic support”
“Wow kid, looks like you thought a lot about it. ” Tony smiled. “Ya know, it’s like looking in a mirror with you sometimes. It’s starting to get creepy.” he faked a shiver.
“Thanks?”
“We could even order takeout and watch Star Wars…again?” Tony offered.
“Yeah, totally!”
“Alrighty then! Well, we should get back. Before they’re wondering where we are.”
Peter ran back to Ned and MJ.
“Hey! Where did you go?” Ned asked.
“Oh, Mr. Stark wanted to talk to me about the internship.”
“Ah, the internship.” Ned put internship in air quotes.
MJ elbowed him in the stomach when he said that.
“Hey!” he glared at MJ.
In front of the lab, Tony went addressed the entire class “Well, I got to go work stuff, so you can leave now. Bye!”
It was Gwen’s turn now to be the tour guide again. She turned back to the group and said:
“Okay guys, looks like all we have left is the gift shop. Stick together and head for the elevators on the left.”
As everyone was shuffling out of the room, Mr. Stark was trailing behind them to only shut the door as soon as the last person left.
Back to work, huh?
Ned said to Peter “That was so cool to see his suits! I’ve never heard of him letting people in his lab before.”
“Yeah me neither, he’s pretty strict about who’s allowed in his lab.”
They started getting into the elevator, when MJ responded with “Yeah, he probably doesn’t let people in so they won’t steal his ideas.”
“That and he doesn’t like it.” Peter joked.
Gwen was about to hit the button to start the elevator, when it started to shudder.
She froze. “what the hell was that.”
Peter thought it was a malfunction and then realized, those shudders were very familiar.
The vent above them started to shudder, and the shudder was revealed to be none other than Hawkeye.
Ha. This will be interesting.
“Oh hello” he jumps down from the vent “Nothing to worry about, just playing a friendly game with Black Widow” with his eyes glued to the ceiling. “What are you guys supposed to be?” He asks.
“Y-yes! Mr. Hawkeye, sir. This is the Midtown School of Science Field Trip, sir. We were just in Mr. Stark’s lab..” Gwen shuffles around the elevator. Towards him.
“Wow. He never lets anyone in his lab. Nice, inspiring the next generation.” while still not looking away from the ceiling. But he bumps into a kid when he tries to jump back into the vent.
“Hey Peter” he does a double take “Peter! What are you doing here?”
Alright, let’s do this one last time.
“Uhh this is my school field trip Mr. Barton!” Peter shuffled nervously.
“Do you know him??” Ned asked curiously
“Yeah for the STARK INTERNSHIP” Peter emphasized.
If he had a nickel for every time he ran into an Avenger today, he’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice right?
“Mr. Barton, sir, what exactly are you doing?” Flash walked toward him.
“Me and Black Widow are just playing a very friendly game of hide and seek.” he hoists himself back into the vents of the elevator.
“Bye!” His voices echos through the shaft. And then he’s gone.
“Well! You don’t see that everyday here I can say that for sure!” Gwen laughed. She was obviously star struck. “FRIDAY, level 1 please.”
“Of course. Level 1 descending…” FRIDAY responded
The doors opened and brings them back to the lobby.
“Hey guys, I’m just gonna go.” Peter said to MJ and Ned. He didn’t really want to be there anymore, he just wanted to get back to work in the lab.
“Oh-Kay. See you later Peter” And they did their handshake as a good bye.
“See you loser” MJ walked up to Peter and waved him goodbye.
“Bye guys” but he feels like he forgot something…
Mr. Harrington!
“Mrs. Harrington, sir!” Peter called out.
“Hey Peter, what’s up man?” Mr. Harrington turned from the group.
“I’m just gonna let you know that I’m leaving to stay here. Just so you won’t think I disappeared or anything.” Peter chuckled
“Ha, course not. But thanks for letting me know Pete, you’re free to go.”
“Thanks!!”
And Peter ran off to the world of tech.
