Chapter Text
The two cooks were finally together again and were currently holding each other as if they would float away. Brown started shedding tears of joy.
It was a heartwarming sight for everyone else to witness.
Yellow looked at Brown and said “I’m so glad you finally see why salt is the best seasoning” Brown only smiled (whatever the crew mate equivalent is)
Yellow couldn’t help but remember when they had first met…

It was a busy day at the family restaurant that Yellow worked at. Their may family own the restaurant but they had always loved to be in the kitchen. The smell, the heat, the effort put in making a dish was what they lived for.
Someone had been hired as a second chef to help out with rush hour. This had Yellow quite mad, they didn’t need another chef hanging around THEIR kitchen. Yellow couldn’t help but blame their parent Banana for this, the old bean had seen the way their child was working so hard and thought some help wouldn’t hurt.
The random kid helping wash dishes and the extra waitresses did help but another chef was too much in Yellow's opinion. They have been the only chef since their parents broke up, they were the one that held their broken family restaurant together by the art of food.
Yellow is the oldest of 5, their parents broke up when Yellow was a little bean, their parent Banana has since remarried and had 4 kids. Yellow, despite being the odd one, loved their little siblings so much. Banana had thought it would be cruel for Yellow to never meet their other parent and has brought Yellow to Goldenrod every weekend.
Yellow never really had a close connection toward them like they did with Banana, but there was one thing they both shared… the love of baking. They would spend their days together in the kitchen, they would work silently only talking when discussing what food to bake (usually chocolate cake).
Yellow’s stepparent steel-blue also had the gift of cooking, they could grill a 5 star fish dish. They wanted all their children to learn how to cook and saw Yellow as one of their own, they never cared about who Yellow's biological parents were, they were a part of the family and should be treated as such. So growing up Yellow’s love language was always food.
One of their siblings passed a test? Their favorites for dinner and dessert! Someone got injured? Get well cake! It was Yellow's way of showing they cared, they also used food to show how they felt, so it wasn’t surprising when they cooked salty food with a sour dessert for the next week after they found out someone else will be cooking with them.
Looking at the clock, Yellow sees that the time to meet this second chef was coming up and they were not happy, they didn’t need anyone else to help, they would just get in the way.
The restaurant door dinged and in came a crewmate with the restaurant uniform. Yellow stared at them with resentment, the chocolate colored bean walked into the kitchen and set their stuff on a bench.
The brown bean looked around and saw Yellow standing by the oven. Brown walked up to them in hopes to make friends with their new coworker.
“Hi I’m Brown, I’m the new baker” The newbie now known as Brown greeted Yellow. Yellow not wanting to acknowledge them, simply answered “yeah well I’m Yellow the cook”.
They had worked together from then on. As Brown and Yellow worked together they decided to be in a union and planned to get married. Banana was so proud of the both of them and wrote Yellow under the restaurant so that once they die the restaurant will be passed to Yellow.
Brown had wanted to go and visit more places and learn about local food around the galaxy and had asked Yellow a hard question. “Yellow.. I want to travel and I know we don’t have anything else but the restaurant but Mira has been hiring, said to give good pay, and is in need of cooks so wanna give it a shot?” Brown usually doesn’t talk much since they were selectively mute.
Yellow listened and saw the look of wonder in their partner visor… they couldn’t say no, besides they were gonna do it together. “Let so Mira that we are the best cooks in all the galaxies”

Yellow couldn’t help but think that if they had said no to Brown both of them wouldn’t have had to face death.
They had always thought space was beautiful and baked goods based off the sky but all they see now when looking at it is the cold abyss that dragged them away while slowly freezing and watching Brown grow smaller and smaller…
Yellow was still shivering but the heat from Brown helped them slowly warm up. They didn’t care about the others, all they cared about was Brown and if their parents were okay.
