Chapter Text

He really hadn't planned for this to happen, per se. They had just been studying, after all — Makoto for her entrance exams, Ren just because he was bored and needed a refresher on Japanese history and customs. Sae was still at work, and Ann and Ryuji were running late. Ordinarily, Makoto would chide them for it, but it was storming cats and dogs outside. Makoto could hardly get too upset at the two blondes when neither of them could navigate well on the best of days, let alone with thick sheets of white shrouding anything more than an arm's length away from them. Still, they were late, and that meant that Ren and Makoto were alone when the power of the building cut owing to an unfortunate lightning strike.

He really had to make it clear. He didn't plan it whatsoever. He just turned on Third Eye to spot the breaker in the dark, and that just so happened to make his eyes glow red from his seat near the bathroom, and Makoto let out the most blood-curdling scream he'd ever heard.

It’d be more of a tragedy if he didn’t lean into it. So he honoured his ancestors and let out the lowest rasp he could manage, and somehow overcame Makoto’s seemingly-magnetic attraction to his legs in these sorts of situations. The Fist of Justice into his gut was almost worthwhile.

If he had Ann’s chain whip to dangle a la Reaper, it would’ve definitely been completely worthwhile. As it was, he unfortunately had to nurse a limp all the way back to LeBlanc, only about eighty percent satisfied.

Notes:

"Trickster, naïve as I may be, even I can tell that you'd best hope this document never sees the light of the world beyond the Velvet Room."

"...Lavenza, who exactly has access to this document?!"

A faint giggling can be heard, before the audio note cuts right as an adolescent male begins to shout.

Notes:

Thank you for reading, as always.
