Chapter Text
Peter is getting ready for school. May is still asleep since she comes home late. She always had pretty late work hours but now since Ben passed she works even more. He barely sees her now. Still May wastes what ever little free time she has for him. For example she still makes Peter lunch every single day and she even leaves a note! She is wasting her time on him! And Peter isn't dumb he knows they can barely afford quite literally anything now and he also knows May has been giving him some of her food portions. He feels so bad. He doesn't deserve this. Especially since he is the one to blame for Ben.Wuth a sigh he packs the lunch in his backpack and gets going. He wonders how long they'll get to stay in theyr apartment. The only thing Peter knows about rent is they have to pay monthly and if they don't they get kicked out. Wich at this rate is gonna be soon. And that's crazy becouse Gotham is extremely cheap. And they are broke even here! He can't imagine living in a different city they would be homeless already! Being homeless is like his worst nightmare. And he is pretty sure it's the worst thing that can happen to anyone living in gotham. Maybe find even a cheaper apartment? He needs to tell May he doesn't care where they will live as long as they lice somewhere.
Getting out the metro he stops dead in his tracks. I need photos of Gotham vigilantes. Price will be disscused based on the quality of said photos. No age requirment. Oh this jackpot! He can help out May! Maybe they will get to stay in theyr apartment! He takes out a sticky note and a pen and writes down the number. Oh this is great.
Anyway the school day goes like normal for the most part except they have a new girl in theyr class Marry Jane Watson. And both he and Harry can agree on the fact that she is gorgeous. Especially her ginger hair. Honestly ginger is probably Peter's favourite hair color on people. There is just something kinda eye-catching about it. But Peter knows he'll probably never even talk to her. She is way too cool for someone like him. But Harry is rich and pretty so maybe he has a chance. Speaking of Harry. "I don't need your money Harry." Harry puts his hands on his hips. "I dont need it either Peter." Peter frowns at this. Harry called him Peter instead of Pete. That's bad. "I refuse to be some charity case especially when i just found a job." "An impossible job! And your quite literally an orphan Pete!" Atleast he is back to being Pete. "My dad is still alive!" Harry raises a brow. "And where is he? No who even is he?" No response. It's true Peter has no idea who his dad actually is. And that hurts. "I should get going. Bye." With that he turns around and leaves. He hears Harry swear under his breath about how he fucked up and he wishes he didn't hear it becouse now he just feels even worse. Harry is sad becouse of him. Damnit.
Peter totally didn't spend the whole afternoon sulking. He was looking for Ben's old camera. Yeah! That took him the whole afternoon. Aynway now that Peter is done with his totally not sulking he needs to come up with a plan. He has to Patrol and get good quality pictures at the same time. Easier said then done. Or maybe he could start patroll later and end it earlier so he still has time to take the pictures.. But that's wasting time he could use to help people he can't afford that. He can't afford anything honestly. So that means he has to. He will start patrol later but he will stay out until dawn right before school dtarts in order to make up for it. Oh that's like the best idea he ever had. Okay it is time to head out now.
He is walking on the street. Alone without anything on him. The logic behind it if someone does try to rob him there won't be anything to rob. Briliant idea. Only fault is that it's not dark yet. It's maybe 6 pm so he won't have to wait long until dark but he will still have to wait. This is boring. He should be out patrolling and helping people. Maybe he could find some grandma and carry her groceries? Who is he kidding no one in Gotham is gonna trust a stranger with theyr stuff. So Peter is just stuck being useless.
A while later and it's almost completely dark now. Now just find some vigilantes. Last time what got Nightwing's atention wad that he was sitting on a rooftop...Maybe he should try that again? He holds his camera a little tighter and walks into the nearest alleyway. The little voice in his head doesn't warn him of anything sonhe sticks to the wall and climbs up the to the roof. Now he is sitting on the edge and waiting. Last time he sat on the edege of the roof it wasn't nearly as comforting. Sure Ben quite literally died the same night so maybe that's clouding his judgement but still. Lately he has been wierdly content in high places.
Watching. Yes! Peter turns on his camera but he doesn't aknoweladge the presence. It doesn't sound like Nightwing. It doesn't sound like anything actually. If it wasn't for the voice in his head he wouldn't know anyone was there. He feels like whoever is watching can see right trough him. And the voice in his head telling him someone is watching is getting quiter. Are they leaving? He whips his head around to where he thinks the person is. And he stares right at them. Atleast he hopes he is. Watching. Ha! So he is staring at the person! Nice. But the feeling of victory doesn't stay long as he hears very faint footsteps and the voice in his head is now quiet. Geez he seriously needs to call the voice something. Also why the hell did the person leave! He is a kid on the roof! This was a bullet proof plan!
He waits atleast another hour until finally giving up. He climbs down the roof and wtarts walking home. He walks quick and holds his camera tight. It was a bad idea. He always underestimates the streets of Gotham. Duck. Peter ducks as something flies right above him. He turns to see what it was. Robin! Peter fiddles to turn on his camera as quick as he can. Meanwhile robin is up again and running the way where he was thrown from. Looking up Peter sees what threw him Killer Croc did. Oh no. Okay Parker take a few pictures and then help Robin.
______________________________________________________________
Robin is right now fighting Killer Croc. Luckily it's getting late so the streets of Gotham are mostly empty. There is a couply idiots here and there. Like for example the civilian staringa t him with a camera in hand. And he looks around his age doesn't he know there is a curfew? Tt. Stupid. Luckily said civillian realizes how stupid he is being by standing in the middle of the fight and runs away. He did take a couple of pictures tho. But Robin can't let his thoughts wander he needs to focus on Killer Croc. Huh. Killer Croc is now trying very hard to reach on his back as if there is something there. In his atempts Killer Croc turns around and on his back is a kid in a red hoodie? The kid jumps of Killer Croc and lands next to him. "What are you doing here? Who are you?" Damian commands while dodging one of Killer Croc 's blows. The kid also dodges the blow but in a different way. He shoots some of white rope at Killer Croc and uses it to dodge and swing away on it at the same time. He swings all the way around Killer Croc and the rope wraps around him. It suprisngly slows him down but he quickly tears it. The kid looks very shocked by that. "I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-man." The kid finnally responds to him. "Stop playing dress up and go home." Damians says already moving to attack Killer Croc. "No! I can help!" Spiderman also moves to attack. "I don't need your help Spiderman." Damian spits. "It's Spider-man!" He finally manages to get a solid hit on Killer Croc. "It has a hyphen!" Spider-Man yells out before webbing himself to Croc again. Except this time he stays stucking to him and starts crawling all over him while ..webbing? him up in the white rope. He almost wishes he was making this up. Becouse Spider-man just beat Croc...almost. Becouse Robin delivers the final blow that knocks Killer Croc unconcious. What is the Spider-man doing now? "What are you doing?" He asks sharply as Spider-man puts a sticky note on the passed out Killer Croc and starts writing something on it. "Leaving a note for the police." Why not just call the police? "Tt." Spider-man looks at him with an awkard smile but he looks away again to finish writing the note. And that is Robin's cue to dissapear.
Standing on the top of a rooftop. "Oracle. What do you know about Spider-man?" The comm cracles. "Spider-man?" She asks confused but he can hear her already typing on her computer in the backround. "Kid my age, shorter then me, wears a hoodie and swings on white ropes." The typing stops. "Huh..." "What is it? What did you find?" Theres a stupidly long silence. Whatever she found she can say it. "I think that's Red hood's kid."
