Chapter Text
"For the last time, Candy Apple Cookie, we are here because Master Shadow Milk's sewing machine broke down. And who did that? Care to remind me?" Black Sapphire said as he looked though the clothes in which seemed quite ugly. Most weren't their colour. And the combinations of the fabric simply seemed too terrifying for it to be even considered a clothing. "Ugh, what horrid cookie would dare wear these filfthy designs."
Candy Apple groaned once again and placed her hands onto her face.
"I am ssooooo bored! You never let me pick anything out anyways! You and your clothes!!!"
Black Sapphire let out a long sigh and reached out to grab a skirt, holding it up and raising an eyebrow.
"This one looks like it could suit you. Though, those golden laces are quite—a choice." He offered it to Candy Apple without sparing her a glance. "Here, take this. And stop yelling for a moment. We are in the store."
Candy Apple let out a hmfp and yanked it out of Black Sapphires hands, staring at it herself as she stuck her tongue out.
"I like your tailoring better. This one is so low quality!"
"Should've thought about that before you tried to sew with Master Shadow Milk's sewing machine." He rolled his eyes again and stopped when he caught a glimpse of a nice shirt, with gentle ruffles on its arms and a beautiful collar that seemed breathable.
He took it out, gently handling it as he looked up and down at it.
"That would look quite good on you."
Someone suddenly said beside him, making him jump and snap his body around. Candy Apple wasn't different, as she let out a yelp and got into a defensive position.
Before he could comprehend, the cookie spoke again.
"Ah, didn't mean to spook! I just saw you though that corner right there, and came to say hi. Wouldn't want to be a brute." The cookie before them raised a hand and lifted his hat, then bowed with a confident smile.
Black Sapphire looked around the store before he straightened his back and kept his chin up.
"I believe it was very—characterstic of a welcome." He said as he took in the sight of the cookie. Were they a cookie? It seemed like this persom's body was made out of something, but Black Sapphire didn't know what—just that they didn't look normal. Almost like Shadow Milk's hair but a void instead. "I'll refuse your company, so, if you leave us alone, that will be appreciated." He turned around back to the clothes and inspected the shirt. He could make a witty comeback. Maybe even throw in some mocking sentences he would deem fit. But, they were here as undercover, and this wasn't the safety of the domain of deceit.
"Ah, in that case, I should be taking my leave." The cookie said and turned away. "You are absolutely gorgeous. Take it as a honest compliment."
Black Sapphire's eyes widened as his head snapped to look at the stranger, who walked away and approached cookies that didn't look very like cookies as well. One girl without the outline frosting, and a cookie with an oven as a head. It was strangle.
"Uuuuuuu! Hihihihihi!!!" Candy Apple giggled beside him, taking his attention. "I never saw someone calling you gorgeous before!"
Black Sapphire held the shirt closed and gasped.
"Of course I am—gorgeous! That stranger merely just said it out loud."
"Oh, come on! Nobody said it out loud before." Candy Apple let out a long humm and grinned ear to ear. "You should talk to them."
"What?"
"He was hitting on you, duhh! It will be so romantic, EEEKKKKKK!!!"
Black Sapphire let out a long huff and hung the shirt to his arm, grabbing Candy Apple's shoukder and pushing her away to walk.
"I have no time for romance. I am a one-person show, if you haven't noticed."
"More like delulu show." She grumbled as she walked with his push.
"What even is that word?"
"Means you are delusional!" She giggled and started skipping a step as she walked faster.
Black Sapphire stared at her for a second before he lifted a hand and face oalmed.
Walking towards the aisle for pants, he moved to the jeans section and tried to find one that would fit him. And another for Candy Apple and Master Shadow Milk. Mostly for casual wear. The ones they had before had gone out of fashion.
Looking at these, it seemed like there was not a fashion worth taking a look at anyway.
He needed something pretty, something that had personality. That when he wore, it made him scream that he was there without him actually screaming.
Though, someone had noticed him despite him not having a screaming outfit. So maybe it wasn't that big of a deal if the outfit didn't scream. Though, would he be noticible if he wore something tlese? Maybe it was the outfit that had their attention, and not Black Sapphire as the most.
"Earthbread to Black Sapphire! What is so good about those jeans that you have been staring at them for five minutes? My feet are hurting! I want to sit down!"
Black Sapphire blinked and tilted his head up, shifting it to look at Candy Apple before his eyes noticed something in the distance. No, someone. The group which that ovenhead and others were in. Was that guy made out of a black void?
"Uh, perhaps, we can sit down." He nodded subtly, taking his eyes off them. "I'll think of outfit combinations. Aimlessly wandering around does not help."
They walked towards the cushions in the middle of the shoes section and he leaned back a little. Thinking, it would be good to have a corset as the belt while wearing this shirt, and baggy jeans, a small bag strap on the leg. For the collar, he thought of a dark purple tie, and a choker,
As the outfits slowly shaped in his mind, he was taken out of his thoughts as he heard that stranger's voice again.
"I know we have been running and all of that, but it is getting quite exhausting. I am willing to pay the price of not being behind bars, yet, we need a stable ground."
He tilted his head up and looked around, only to see that group standing behind a baby clothing stall, talking to each other. So, he lowered his head back.
The cookie with an ovenhead spoke.
"We can construct out new home. They won't be able to reach us! I'll cook them all if that is the sake."
Then another voice got it, so duller than the rest. And thinner. The girl withput the out line frosting?
"We need…somewhere."
He blinked and hummed, moving a hand up to fix his hair. The stranger wasn't that rude. He had given him a compliment, didn't press on, and left when he refused. In fact, he had been almost kind about it. Very kind.
No, that was stupid.
"Hm…"
"Whatchu thinking, Black Sapphire?" Candy Apple asked.
"I'll try to ask Master Shadow Milk if he allows room in the spire."
"Isn't Master Shadow Milk sooo strict about his domain?"
Black Sapphire nodded and sat up.
"I'll tell him that I am personally involved with the shadow one." He glanced at the cookies again. "They do take my limited attention."
Candy Apple stared at him, then at the floor, then as him, and—
Screamed in delight.
Standing in front of Shadow Milk who was busy with cutting cardboard boxes his legs on his desk, Black Sapphire met his hands together and kept his head low.
"I've met a cookie today."
Shadow Milk's eyebrows rose up and he grinned, tilting his head to a side.
"Oh! What is the tea?"
"Well, we do not have a personal…story for to tell." He looked away and tried to gather his thoughts. "They had approached me with a confident style, and complimented as they stood with a nice thought-out fit."
"My, my. You never talked about someone having a good fit other than me, Black Sapphire Cookie. Should I assume the implications of this story?"
"It was simply because he was nice to me, that is all." He sighed and crossed his arms. "I am devoted to my work as your servant rather than—whatever this is. But I did not come for me to discuss that. I eavesdropped that they are in need of a place."
Shadow Milk stopped in his tracks and slowly placed the scissors and the cardbox down.
"Oh, no, no, no, nouuuu. We are not helping a helpless dream. It's kinda funny how you thought I would say yes to that. I thought you knew me better, Black Sapphire Cookie…"
"Of course I do! There is no way I would think Master Shadow Milk would say yes to this. I just wanted to ask."
"Helloooo? We are not running a charity case here. This is my spire, if you remember." Shadow Milk grinned and cocked his head to a side. "But, I'll allow them here if you two end up dating."
"What?"
"You heard me, come on. I love some relationship drama. At least three dates and all that! In the main time, I need so discuss this with my Silly-Vanilly. Ah, it'll work out. What do they say, right! Third time is the charm!"
Black Sapphire parted his lips to speak, then closed them and looked away.
"I am not looking forward to stepping out of my duty as your servant just so I could fulfill selfish desires. I would rather make your plans come true and spread lies all across the land."
Shadow Milk glanced at him, up and down. Before he scoffed and floated up, lying on the air.
"Are you implying that you are going against my wishes? Because I just told you to go try your chance with that cookie." He rolled his eyes before he laughed. "Even I have a partner, Black Sapphire Cookie. You'll die lonely at this rate! Now that would be a nice soap opera."
Black Sapphire stared at his master before he subtly nodded and sighed.
"I do not know how to be in a romantic relationship."
Shadow Milk coughed and landed on the ground.
"WHAT?"
