Chapter Text

After three hours. Yes, three entire hours spent cleaning ONE bathroom. That was how disgusting the place was. The bathroom was so filthy that they somehow managed to find a fucking dead rat in there.

Unfortunately, cleaning an abandoned bathroom wasn’t entertaining enough for him. No, the demon had the brilliant idea of chasing Rin around the bathroom with the dead rat in his hand, laughing like a maniac while Rin screamed every threat known to mankind at him.

He swore that if Shidou even thought about throwing that thing at him, he would make sure the bastard regretted being born. And, surprisingly enough, Shidou actually listened. Whether it was because he valued his life or simply because he found Rin’s reaction hilarious enough without having to throw the rat at him was something Rin didn’t particularly care to find out.

Meanwhile, the other two bathrooms took them only an hour to clean. One was cleaned entirely by Shidou himself, while Rin took care of the other one alone. It took them less because the two bathrooms are getting cleaned daily except for holidays and weekends.

After they finally finished cleaning, Shidou left to God knew where, leaving Rin alone.

Rin sighed.

All he wanted was to finish this stupid punishment as quickly as possible and go home. He was tired, his entire body practically begged him to lie down, and he was pretty sure he could still smell that disgusting bathroom on his clothes.

But unfortunately, he still had two more days to spend at Blue Lock with that annoying, perverted cockroach.

Honestly, three days didn’t sound like much, but when you had to spend them with Ryusei Shidou, it felt more like three generations. Rin was already starting to lose his mind, and it had barely been a day.

He could tolerate the cleaning. He could tolerate Ego’s bullshit. Hell, he could even tolerate the fact that he had almost been forced to touch a dead rat because of that pink-blond haired psychopath.

But spending another two days with that antenna headed freak? Absolutely fucking not.

Rin was seriously considering whether getting himself kicked out of Blue Lock would be worth it. At least then he wouldn’t have to deal with Shidou’s annoying ass anymore.

And it wasn’t even lunchtime yet.

Rin rubbed his face with both hands.

He had never wanted to go home so badly in his entire life. He missed his own bed. His own bathroom. The peaceful silence of being alone without someone screaming “RIN-CHAN” every five fucking minutes. But he now has to rebuy another flight ticket because he missed his first one just because of this stupid situation.

He started imagining how satisfying it would be to punch Shidou directly in his stupid, grinning face. all the different ways he could beat the living shit out of him. Rin clicked his tongue in annoyance.

God, he hated that bastard.

He was so busy imagining Shidou’s funeral that he didn’t even notice someone approaching him from behind.

And then, suddenly, someone jumped onto his back.

“RIIIIIN-CHAAAAAN!”

Rin nearly lost his balance.

It was the one and only Ryusei fucking Shidou.

“AGHH, GET OFF ME! YOU’RE HEAVY!”

Shidou chuckled but he surprisingly did get off him, landing on his feet.

“Jeez, No need to be so pissy, Daddy Long Lashes!”

Rin took a deep breath.

He couldn’t afford to start another fight. Not because he was afraid of Shidou, obviously, but because he had absolutely no intention of extending their punishment over something as stupid as punching that idiot in the face.

As satisfying as it would be.

“What do you want, you pervert?”

“Hey! That nickname doesn’t even suit me!” Shidou protested

Rin blinked at him with half lidded eyes, his expression screaming that he couldn't give less of a fuck.

Shidou blinked innocently with big eyes back.

“Anyways,” Shidou continued, completely unbothered, “are you hungry?”

Why was this idiot suddenly asking him about food? And where the hell had he disappeared to earlier?

“Why are you asking? And where were you before?”

“Oh, I was looking for Anri to ask when we could take a break. I also told her we’d finished all the bathrooms, and she said we could take one now!”

Shidou grinned, looking far too pleased with himself.

“And since I’m feeling generous today, I’m letting you choose where we eat on me. So, where do you wanna go?”

Rin raised an eyebrow.

Letting me choose?

How generous of him. Someone should probably give him a medal.

What a fucking clown.

Rin wasn’t really hungry.

Well, maybe a little.

Actually, now that he thought about it, he hadn’t eaten much, and after spending three hours cleaning a bathroom that smelled like something had died in it (which technically, something had) he was starting to feel pretty hungry.

Fuck it.

He was hungry enough to eat an entire bear.

“Uhm…” Rin paused, thinking where he wants to eat. “McDonald’s.”

Shidou looked surprised.

“McDonald’s?”

“Yes, McDonald’s. Do you need me to spell it for you?”

“Out of literally every place we could go to, you choose McDonald’s?”

Rin looked at him with the enthusiasm of a dead fish, as if that antenna head is the stupidest person he’d ever encountered. Well, yes, he is, but that’s not the point.

“Then don’t fucking ask me if you wouldn’t accept every answer, idiot?”

“Okay, Damn, No need to get all defensive.”

“I’m not being defensive. You’re just being annoying.”

“Same thing!”

“How is that even-” Rin stopped himself and closed his eyes for a second. “Never mind. I’m not wasting my time explaining basic things to you.”

Shidou burst out laughing.

“Let’s stop talking about it and just go find a McDonald’s, Roach.”

“Yes, sir!”

He turned around and started walking, expecting Rin to follow him.

Rin stood there for a moment.

Unbelievable.

This was the same idiot who he fights with every single day and who had chased him around with a dead rat less than an hour ago, and now they were apparently going out to eat together like normal people.

With another tired sigh, Rin shoved his hands into his pockets and followed him.

————————————————————————————-

After a solid twenty five minute walk, and one wrong turn that caused Rin to lose Shidou, they finally arrived at McDonald’s.

The reason for their little adventure?

Rin had decided that Google Maps was perfectly capable of guiding him through a city he’d never visited before. And of course, he’d decided to walk ahead of Shidou instead of letting the one who had actually grown up in Tokyo lead the way.

Brilliant decision.

He’d gotten lost once, and when he’d finally spotted Shidou again, the bastard had disappeared into the crowd just to make it look like Rin was still lost.

At the end they arrived.

“Phew! We finally arrived!” Shidou announced, stretching his arms above his head.

Rin shot him a glare.

“You’re lucky I’m not leaving you.”

“Aww, but who would guide you around Tokyo, Rin-chan?”

“Google Maps.”

“Didn’t Google Maps get you lost?”

Rin turned away without answering.

“Ha, tsundere.”

Inside, they joined the queue, and Shidou leaned down slightly to look at him.

“So, what does the grumpy cat want to eat?”

Rin ignored the nickname and stepped up to the counter when it was their turn.

“I’d like a large Coke, a large burger, large fries, twenty chicken nuggets, please… and an ice cream to take away.”

Shidou slowly turned his head toward him.

Then a funny grin spread across his face.

“You little nasty shit!”

Rin looked at him with the same enthusiasm he’d show a particularly boring wall. Then he calmly turned back to the cashier.

“Could you add a Happy Meal, too, please?”

Shidou didn’t say anything he thought it was hilarious.

Rin walked away to find a free table.

He found one near the window and sat down.

A few minutes later, Shidou arrived after he ordered and sat opposite him.

“You’re really a meanie, you know that? I was just trying to be nice, Rin-chan! You don’t have to be so grumpy all the time!”

“I don’t care. I don’t owe you anything.”

Rin glanced at the receipt.

“What’s our number?”

“Oh, it’s…” Shidou picked up the receipt and squinted at it. “Let me see… 067!”

Shidou immediately burst out laughing.

For some reason, that was the funniest thing shidou ever seen.

“HAHAHA! SIX! SEVEN! SIX-SEVEN!”

He repeated the numbers over and over, laughing like a little kid who’d just discovered the existence of comedy.

Rin stared at him.

What was wrong with him?

Seriously.

Had he hit his head while cleaning the bathrooms? Should Rin call Anri and report a medical emergency?

Whatever the explanation was, Rin was embarrassed someone from blue lock might spot him with this embarrassment.

few people were starting to glance in their direction.

Rin leaned forward slightly.

“Stop that,” he hissed in an angry whisper.

Shidou looked at him, still grinning.

“Huh? You’re such a joy killer!”

Before Rin could respond, a woman behind the counter called out their order number.

Shidou immediately stood up.

“That’s us!”

He collected their food and returned to the table, setting the bags down between them.

“Here you go! Hope you can eat all that!”

He said it in a teasing voice, clearly expecting Rin to get annoyed again.

Instead, Rin leaned back in his chair.

“Oh? No, I’m not eating anything.”

Shidou froze.

“…Huh?”

Rin looked at him innocently.

“What?”

“What do you mean, you’re not eating anything?? Why did you order all that, then?”

“Free will.”

Shidou stared at him.

For a moment, he looked genuinely offended.

Then he slowly grinned.

“You’re actually evil. Fine, I’ll just eat it myself!”

He reached for the bag, looking far too pleased with himself.

Rin immediately pulled it away.

“Excuse me? It’s my food!”

“You just said you weren’t eating it?”

“AND?”

Shidou opened his mouth, closed it again, and looked at Rin as though he’d just discovered a completely new species.

“You’re unbelievable.”

Shidou shook his head, laughing to himself, before finally unwrapping his own burger.

He ate like he hadn’t seen food in three weeks.

Rin genuinely wondered whether anyone had ever taught him basic table manners. Probably not. It would explain a lot.

Still, after watching Shidou enjoy his food for a while, Rin finally reached into the bag and took out his burger.

He stared at it.

Then turned it slightly in his hands.

Then stared at it some more.

It was just a burger. Bread, meat, sauce. Nothing particularly complicated.

So why was he hesitating?

He’d eaten burgers before. It wasn’t as if this one were going to suddenly grow teeth and bite him.

“Rin-Rin?”

Rin looked up.

Shidou had stopped eating and was watching him.

“What?”

“It’s not gonna kill you, you know.” Shidou gave him the warmest, most reassuring smile Rin had ever seen on his face. “It tastes good. Trust me!”

For a second, Rin forgot what he was supposed to do.

That smile was… weird.

Not bad weird.

Just weird.

Shidou usually wore that stupid grin that made Rin want to throw something at him. But this time, he looked genuinely happy to be sitting there with him, sharing a meal like it was the most normal thing in the world.

And, for some incredibly annoying reason, Rin’s heart decided to beat a little faster.

He immediately looked back down at his burger.

What the hell was that?

He ignored it, took a bite, and began chewing.

…

Oh.

It actually tasted really good.

Annoyingly good, in fact.

When he looked up again, Shidou was watching him with an almost hopeful expression, as if Rin’s opinion on a McDonald’s burger were about to determine the future of humanity.

Rin was still chewing.

“What?”

Shidou’s smile faltered slightly.

“Sooo? How does it taste?”

Rin blinked.

“What do you want me to say? It’s edible, at least.”

Shidou stared at him.

“Even when it comes to food you’re stubborn, huh?”

Rin shrugged and took another bite.

“You’re welcome to leave if my opinion bothers you that much.”

“You’re such a little kid, I swear!”

Rin was busy unpacking the toy from his Happy Meal when Shidou said that.

He slowly lifted his head.

“You’re two years older than me, basically an unc, and you’re still making those unfunny six seven jokes. Grow up, unc.”

Shidou looked at him in disbelief before bursting out laughing again.

Rin returned his attention to the toy.

By the time half an hour had passed, Shidou had finished his food and was leaning back in his chair, looking completely satisfied with himself.

Rin, meanwhile, was still eating.

He’d finished his burger and all twenty chicken nuggets, but the rest of his food remained untouched. He’d eventually decided he didn’t feel like drinking his Coke, so he simply pushed it toward Shidou.

Shidou took it without even asking why.

Somehow, that was probably the most normal interaction they’d had all day.

As for the leftover food, they ended up giving it to a homeless man outside the restaurant.

Rin kept his ice cream, though. He’d specifically ordered it to take away, after all.

Once they’d left McDonald’s, Rin began eating his ice cream as they walked.

Shidou occasionally glanced at him from the corner of his eye.

It was ridiculous.

Rin was literally just eating ice cream.

He wasn’t doing anything special. He wasn’t even talking. He was simply walking beside him, holding his little cup of ice cream with that usual, mildly annoyed expression on his face.

Gosh, everything Rin does is so cute!

Shidou nearly tripped over his own feet.

Notes:

This is what it looked like at the beginning before I corrected, extended and improved the text 👀:

After 3 hours. Yes three hours only for ONE bathroom because the bathroom was so dirty they even found a dead rat and shidou had the nerves to chase Rin with the dead rat in his hand luckily shidou listened to the threats Rin was screaming if that demon ever threw that dead rat at him. And they only needed one hour for the other two bathrooms because shidou cleaned one by himself and the other one was cleaned by Rin.

I’m proud of myself for turning such a short text into a long one 🥹

Notes:

I hope I’m not going to lose motivation 😭💔 oh yea I just turned 15 two days ago 🥹

Edit: not even a hour after and I already lost motivation I’m fucking sorry i actually wanted to write the next chapter today but i kinda got sad when i compared my art to artworks from artists who are much better than me (it’s weird but whenever i lose motivation in something i lose motivation in everything 😞)
