Batman is Bruce Wayne.
But inside Bruce's mind, Batman and Bruce are two distinct, completely separate personalities.
They are designed that way on purpose.
It's not a disguise or an act, but a deliberate psychological dissection, where Batman is one autonomous entity, a rigid justice mechanism, and Bruce Wayne is another, the civilian, the social, the one who reasons differently and makes decisions that Batman cannot.
It is a single person with two functional minds, one who lives for duty and another who lives to protect what he loves at all costs, without rules.
