Chapter Text
By the time the kids’ parents came to take them home, Mirio and Tamaki were freezing. Once the children were gone, the went to the nearby coffee shop to warm up. They were giving out free hot chocolate, which Mirio and Tamaki were very thankful for. They sat at one of the booths to enjoy their drinks and to warm up.
It was starting to get late when they finally left the coffee shop. Mirio was as energetic as ever, and the moment they reached the park again he flopped onto his back and started making snow angels. Tamaki laughed at his boyfriend’s antics. Mirio suggested they try to make a snowman, and Tamaki agreed. It ended up being pretty small, only reaching their waists. But they enjoyed making it nonetheless.
Before it got too dark, Tamaki wanted to do a little window shopping. There were a few shops nearby, some of them already having Christmas items in stock, and Tamaki saw a few things he’d probably come back another time to buy as a gift to thank Mirio for an amazing date.
When they came back to the park for the last time that day, the sun was starting to set. They decided to sit on a bench at the park to watch the sunset before heading home. It was peaceful. Tamaki put his head on Mirio’s shoulder, and Mirio wrapped an arm around him. They weren’t sure how long they sat there, but eventually they got up to go home.
“Tamaki.” Mirio’s uncharacteristically serious tone made Tamaki turn towards him, concerned. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
“What is it?” Mirio took a deep breath before continuing.
“Ever since we first met, I knew you were important to me. At the time, it was because you were my friend, but as I got to know you more and we became closer, I realized it was because I love you. The five years we’ve been together have been the best years of my life. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, Tamaki,” Mirio paused in his speech to get down on one knee, pulling a small box out of his coat pocket, “Will you marry me?”
“Mirio, I-“ Tamaki was speechless. His hands were covering his mouth and he could feel tears forming in his eyes. He couldn’t believe this was actually happening. He took a short moment to compose himself before he spoke.
“Yes.”
