Chapter Text
Before Hermione was fully out of the fireplace she was wrapped up in strong long arms, her head pressed against his chest. She smiled as he held her close, he smelled like fireworks and leather.
"Hi Fred."
Fred pulled back and cupped her face smiling brightly at her. "Hi, love." Then he swooped down and snogged her like they were the only two people in the room. But they weren't and they quickly heard others cough behind them. Fred pulled back grinning. "Welcome home."
"MY TURN!" George rushed over from Charlie's side to Hermione and slung his arms around her waist and picked her up twirling.
"George!" Hermione laughed as the room spun around her, blurs of red hair flashed before her.
"Welcome home, Mione!"
"Thanks George." Hermione smiled as he sat her down and draped his arm around her shoulder, she gave him a side hug and glanced around the room when Fred came to her other side and slid his arm around her waist. Standing between the twins, she saw the rest of the Weasley family smiling at them. Charlie was still wrapped up in his mother embrace, his father standing right next to them looking at them fondly. Hermione was soon pulled away from the twins by Ginny, followed by Ron and Harry. After 20 minutes of welcome backs and hugs they made their way to the kitchen as Molly prepared a special meal. Everyone stayed late that night, mostly talking about the new reserve.
When the twins and Harry were playing exploding snap, Ron and Bill playing chess and Angelina, Molly and Fleur talking about wedding arrangements, Ginny pulled Hermione up the stairs to their old room.
"You remember I wanted to talk to you the last time, but we didn't get the chance?"
"Yes, is everything alright Gin?"
Ginny smiled nervously as she sat down on her old bed, while Hermione dropped down on hers across from Ginny. "Everything is fine, great really. I- I met someone!" Ginny exclaimed excitingly.
"Really? That's great Ginny! Who is he?"
"It's someone I met during one of our away games. He's funny, smart and GORGEOUS."
Hermione laughed at Ginny's dreamy complexion. "Why didn't you tell anyone?"
"Well..." She was playing with the hem of the sheet nervously.
"Not because of Harry, is it?" Hermione asked carefully.
"No, no that's not it. It's just he's- he's a muggle."
"Okay. So, what's the problem?"
"I'm afraid of how they will react."
"Ginny... If he is good to you and you like him. I am one hundred percent sure they will too."
"You think?"
"I know." She smiled reassuringly. "So, tell me more about him, does he know?"
"I told him two weeks ago. He was in shock at first – obviously- but things are great! His name is Seth, he's a teacher in primary school, twenty-six years old and lives in Manchester."
"I would love to meet him."
Ginny jumped up and threw herself at Hermione and hugged her tight. "Thanks, Mione. Do you mind if we had a double date or something? So, I can get him to meet a smaller part of the family before the big explosion."
Hermione laughed as she fully understood what she meant. The Weasley can be much and especially if you are a muggle.
"I think we can work something out. I'll talk to Fred later, okay?"
There was a knock on the door before Fred's head peered in. "Love, it's getting late, mum already trapped Charlie into staying here. So if we don't hurry, you're next."
Hermione smiled at her boyfriend as she stood up. "Wouldn't want that now, would we." She walked over swaying her hips and as she reached Fred she whispered. "I have other plans for tonight."
Fred's eyes grew big and dark with desire as his breath hitched when Hermione trailed her hand over his chest.
"Come on, love birds." Ginny chuckled as she pushed them out of the room. "I'll distract mum, you two make a run for it."
"Thanks, sis." Fred winked as he let Ginny pass him on the stairs. He turned back to Hermione and smiled nervously. "George already send your bags to the flat- uhm the flat at Hogsmeade. We can take your stuff to your flat later." He added quickly.
"Hogsmeade is fine, Freddie. You officially moved in then?" She asked as she grabbed his hand and walked down the stairs.
"Yeah, just a few days ago. Had a run in with George and Ange going at it. Don't want that happening again thank you."
Hermione chuckled as they reached the bottom of the stairs, they heard Ginny talking to her parents in the kitchen and silently made their way to the living room which was empty beside George and Bill.
"Better hurry up mate. Don't think Ange can take much more wedding talk." George grinned as he glanced between them and the kitchen.
"Yeah, if mum catches you, you'll be stuck here like Charlie, poor bloke." Bill added, grinning softly.
Hermione bid them goodnight and walked in the fireplace with Fred before disappearing from the burrow. Hermione's bags never made it to her flat.
Two days after they were back Hermione and Fred had their double date in muggle London with Ginny and Seth. They went to a Mexican restaurant which was amusing to Hermione and Seth as the two others never had Mexican food, both burning their mouths on several dishes. She liked Seth, like Ginny said he was funny and smart. Hermione could explain the wizarding world a little better than Ginny could, so she explained everything she could in a way he would understand. Fred had his overly protective brother suit on, but dropped it fairly quick as he talked more to the man and invited him to his shop sometime. They chatted away until the restaurant was closing up and by the end of the night Ginny told them she would bring over Seth on Boxing Day after she talked to Harry.
The next few weeks were extremely busy. With getting everything ready with the reserve, jobs interviews, getting the communications ready with the other reserves across Europe. They had to do all of their Christmas shopping and going to holiday parties. Charlie had been living at the burrow for a week before he couldn't take it anymore. Hermione and Charlie were just closing up the reserve when she suggested he should stay at her flat until the living spaces in the reserve were done. He gladly accepted after Hermione assured him it was no problem as she was mostly at Fred's place. So they connected the floo from the reserve to Fred's flat and to Hermione's before disconnecting the one of the burrow, (They didn't want Molly running in all the time to check up on them). Charlie and Ginny living together worked out well. While Fred and Hermione who both had been busy with the shop and the reserve, they could finally make time for one another and enjoy being together without the dread of being separated again. The day before Christmas, Hermione and Charlie were done with the job interviews and picked out their candidates, some of them started right the next day, while others started in the new year.
On New Year's Day Fred officially asked her to move in with him and the next day all her stuff had been boxed and moved in their flat. Some may find it fast but even though they were only dating for a couple of months, they've known each other since she was eleven and grew even closer after the war.
On the opening of the reserve the whole Weasley family stopped by with their spouses, even Ginny brought over Seth who looked around nervously. Hermione explained everything and walked beside him as they gave everyone the tour. Behind them Ginny and Fred were smiling fondly at the two, both happy they had found the one for them and Ginny was so glad that Hermione liked her new boyfriend and as a muggleborn could talk to him about things she couldn't talk to the rest of them except for Harry. Arthur was over the moon when Ginny brought Seth over and bombarded him with questions about muggle live which left the rest of them laughing or rolling their eyes while grinning.
That day, Kingsley stopped by with some of the investors, to everyone's surprise it included Draco Malfoy. Kingsley informed them that Malfoy was one of the first ones to help put this all in motion. All the investors and Kingsley were happy with the outcome and couldn't wait to see how Hermione and Charlie would lead the place. Draco and Harry got to talking about the reserve, Harry's work as an auror and Draco's work as a potion master.
Charlie decided he would stay at Hermione's flat, to stay closer to his family and proposed they would take a cabin at the reserve for the both of them as a getaway or if a night turned long and they could sleep over. The cabin had four bedrooms so people could stay over if they wanted to.
It was exactly a year after the reserve opened when Fred proposed to Hermione in the middle of the baby dragon enclosure. She just returned from a 4-day trip to Romania with Charlie. And when Hermione was surrounded by baby dragons, feeding them, Fred bent down on one knee holding an exact replica of a dragon egg. Hermione's eyes went wide as she turned and saw him down on the ground.
"Seth and Harry told me this is the way muggles propose." He said with an uncertain grin. "Please tell me that they weren't lying and I'm sitting here like an idiot?"
"It's perfect." She smiled as she neared him, followed by tiny dragons.
"Hermione, I love you! I loved you for longer than I care to admit. Those months away from you were an absolute hell and I don't want to think about that ever happening again." He stumbled and rushed over his words nervously, which she thought was the sexiest thing she ever saw. "Marry me."
He opened the egg and inside was a beautiful ring that matched the necklace he gave her almost a year and a half ago. It was a silver ring with a large diamond between a dragon's head and a wing that circled her finger. She dived down and they both fell to the ground Hermione flush against his body, and she kissed him deeply.
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" She said between kisses. Fred wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close as the snogged until they were out of breath.
The reserve grew bigger and bigger with more people joining their cause and dragons that needed help. Hermione and Charlie spent time working on several proposals to change the laws around Europe to protect the dragons. So that one day a reserve won't be necessary, and the creatures could leave in peace. It was a long way to go but they won't give up spending late nights working on it. Oco who came over with some of the other dragons from Romania was now fully grown and had its own part of the woods. George still visited him on a regular basis and was one of the few people who could ride him.
Charlie fell in love with a witch who worked alongside Hermione as a healer. Molly almost fell of her chair when Charlie brought Mikaila over. They were taking it slow, getting to know each other while still focusing on work. Ginny and Seth were still going strong, Ginny just moved in with him a few days before Fred proposed to Hermione. Harry and Draco had been dating for about five months, which was hard for Ron at first, who was just coming to terms with it. Ron's been on a few dates with Helen, a Hufflepuff who was a year lower than they were. It looked like it was going in the right direction. George and Angelina married four months after the reserve opened and she was now expecting their first child, it was still very early in the pregnancy so only Fred and Hermione knew, as they named them godparents.
Freddie Jr. was born late august in the arms of Hermione who cried happy as she handed him over to Angelina who was laying in the comfort of her own bed in the flat, two years after their wedding. George was openly crying when Fred ran in the room as soon as he heard the baby's cry and wrapped his arms tight around his twins' arms.
"Congratulations, Georgie. He's beautiful." Fred smiled as he pulled back and looked at the small baby who was wrapped in a Weasley blanket.
"I would like you to meet Freddie Weasley Jr."
At that point Fred's started crying and George placed his arm around his shoulder while Hermione came to his other side and hugged his waist.
"Thank you, Hermione. For everything." Angelina said with tears in her eyes.
"Anytime. He's absolutely adorable, Ange." Before she finished her sentence George wrapped her in a hug and didn't let go until the baby let out a soft cry.
"Hermione, if it wasn't for you…. Thank you!"
She placed a kiss on his cheek before dragging Fred out of the room. She turned to the happy new parents. "I love the both of you, I mean the three of you. You don't ever have to thank me."
George and Angelina opened their mouths to protest but she quickly continued.
"Enjoy your quiet time. I'll wait a couple of hours before informing the rest of the Weasley clan." She winked and closed the door behind her.
Four years later Fred and Hermione welcomed their twins George Jr. and Logan Weasley-Granger. Only a couple minutes after they were born all four of the godparents stormed in the room. Charlie and Ginny were godparents of Logan while George and Angelina became godparents of little Georgie.
George was crying as he held his godson with bright red straight hair, while baby Logan had bright red hair with curls. George had his camera hanging loose around his neck. Ever since Romania he had been the 'family photographer' and took many beautiful photos from their friends and families.
A little over a week after the twins were born Fred and Hermione walked through the floo of the burrow. It was the first summer barbecue, Seth introduced them to it years ago and the twins immediately loved it and it became a new tradition. They walked outside as Fred held baby Logan and Hermione held baby George. The garden was busy, full of friends and family. Ginny sat on a lounge chair close to the BBQ Seth was manning as she cradled her pregnant belly. On the enlarged swing set on the tree was Victoire and Dominic while Teddy pushed them. Percy's one year old, Molly was crawling between the legs of her father as his wife Audrey sat next to him on the ground. Bill and Fleur were talking to George and Angelina, both women nearing their due date. Angelina now also, expecting twins, while Fleur was pregnant with her first son. Harry and Draco adopted Teddy when Andromeda passed away almost two years ago and were now looking to adopt a second child. Ron sat at the dinner table with his fiancé Helen as they chatted away with his parents, little Freddie was playing peek-a-boo under the table. They only on missing was...
"Here are my favourite nephews!"
Fred and Hermione turned grinning as Charlie made his way out of the house holding his arms open. Following behind him was Mikaila who was now sporting her wedding ring.
"Charlie!" Hermione hugged him tight as he came closer and placed her son in his arms. "Mikaila. You're back. How was your honeymoon?"
"Beautiful! South-Africa is really fascinating." Charlie's wife smiled brightly at them. "Ooh! Can I hold him?"
"Sure." Fred carefully placed his son in her arms smiling and the newlyweds took off to the rest of the family. Fred and Hermione turned as he watched their family gather around the newlyweds and their twins. Fred stepped behind Hermione and wrapped his arms around her waist as he rested his chin on her shoulder smiling.
"I've never been so happy. I love you!" Fred sighed as he kissed her neck. Hermione smiled as she leaned in his touch.
"I love you too." She turned in his arms and looked up in his eyes. "Who would have thought that one night would turn into this."
"Certainly not me, but I wouldn't want it any other way, love."
"Me neither." And she stood on her tip toes and pulled him closer as she kissed him deeply.
