Chapter Text

When Katsuki and Eijirou finally draw away from each other, they turn to face their friends and family with blinding grins stretched across their tear-streaked faces. Their crowd erupts in applause, whoops and hollers fill the air.

Hand in hand, Eijirou and Katsuki make their way down the aisle. As they pass, their guests squeeze their arms, stroke their cheeks, and pat their backs in congratulations. A laugh bubbles out of Eijirou's chest when his mom gently pushes her way through their guests until she can properly pull him into a hug. Katsuki watches as Eijirou melts into the embrace, releasing Katsuki's hand so he can properly envelop her in his arms. He rests his chin on her head and murmurs, "I love you, mama."

"And I love you, baby," she replies, pulling away to hold him at arm's length. "I'm so happy for you." She peeks past Eijirou and catches Katsuki's eye. "And I'm so happy for you to join our family, Katsuki."

"Thank you," Katsuki murmurs, bowing his head towards her. Eijirou's mothers' opinion of him has always meant a lot to Katsuki; back when they first started dating, he'd been so scared to meet them because he knew they'd likely have some unfortunate preconceived notions about him, given his reputation and very public, very damning failures. Eijirou assured him that that wasn't the case, that he talked about Katsuki like he was the greatest thing to walk the earth, but Katsuki was still hesitant. He knew how much Eijirou's moms meant to his fiancé, knew that their blessing was vitally important to Eijirou.

When Eijirou finally convinced Katsuki to come to his house to meet his family, practically dragging Katsuki out of the dorms and onto the train to Chiba, Katsuki's heart raced and his palms sweat even more than usual, everything in his body telling him to turn tail and run. He was afraid . He'd never admit it, but he was.

If this visit didn't go well, Katsuki could only assume that would be the end of their relationship, the end of the best part of his life.

Fortunately for Katsuki, Eijirou singing his praises at every given opportunity held more weight with his mothers than the first year sports festival footage or the fact that their son had risked his life to save Katsuki after he'd been kidnapped. He was on his best behavior the whole time, but Eijirou's moms were just as accepting and open as their son, taking Katsuki for all that he is without a question, even when his carefully crafted mask slipped.

But even now, after all this time, hearing Eijirou's mother say she's happy that her son chose him, happy that he's joining their family—it makes Katsuki feel like he's walking on air. Internally, he preens, pride filling his chest. "Thank you," he says again, just to truly drive home how much their approval means to him.

A hand comes up to cradle his face, gently coaxing his head up to look into Eijirou's mom's big, round eyes that look oh so familiar. "Of course, my dear. Thank you for taking such good care of our baby."

Warmth bursts across the bridge of Katsuki's nose, a blush painting his features under the attention. He jerkily nods, then takes Eijirou's hand again to ground himself. Eijirou squeezes his hand, then dips forward to press a kiss to his mom's forehead as a goodbye.

They finish their walk down the aisle without being stopped again, quickly whisked away by Mina to the reception venue.

Although their ceremony was a minimalistic affair, Katsuki and Eijirou, despite everything telling them it would bite them in the ass, begrudgingly allowed Mina to take charge of the reception decorations. When they walk into the building, they're assaulted with a wave of red and orange; there's an arch of alternating red and orange roses sweeping elegantly above their heads, each table is draped with a white lacy tablecloth and topped with a dozen red and orange roses, red rose petals litter the floor, sparkling crystal chandeliers throw fractals of rainbow light across every surface, and giant red bows sit on the back of every seat.

"Wow," Eijirou breathes, stars in his eyes. Katsuki snorts, unsurprised that his husband ( husband ! Katsuki's not sure he'll ever get used to that) finds it awe-inspiring. As they walk under the arch, he trails his fingers over the flowers, the tips dragging across the velvet petals. "You did an amazing job, Mina!" he praises, turning to look at their maid of honor.

"Told you guys you could count on me! When will you stop doubting me?" she huffs, hands on her hips. Eijirou opens his mouth to argue, but she waves him off, pushing them both further into the room. "C'mon, it's time to have some fun!"

Eijirou can’t help the smile that breaks out across his face as he stands with Katsuki in the middle of the dancefloor, watching Mina stomp around in her suit and thigh-high bright pink boots as she prepares everything for the first dance.

“I’m going, I’m going! You don’t have to drag me…” Kyouka grumbles as Mina tugs her towards the stage by her arm.

Mina grabs the microphone and announces, “Everyone gather around to watch our favorite newlyweds share their first dance!”

Eijirou takes that as his cue to settle a warm hand on Katsuki’s waist and pulls Katsuki close as Kyouka starts to play a beautiful, lilting melody. With a sigh, Katsuki takes his other hand and leans forward to rest his head on Eijirou’s chest. Once he recognizes the song playing, Eijirou starts to hum along quietly, guiding Katsuki in an easy back and forth dance. Eijirou’s humming vibrates through his chest, lulling Katsuki into a sense of security and peace.

They’re quiet, enjoying each other’s company in their own little bubble until Eijirou notices that Katsuki’s breathing has slowed down significantly and his eyes have fluttered closed. “Don’t fall asleep on me,” Eijirou murmurs as he leans down to press a kiss to the crown of Katsuki’s head. “I can’t deal with all these people alone.”

“That’s a damn lie and we both know it,” Katsuki slurs, tilting his head up to nuzzle into the crook of Eijirou’s neck.

“You got me. It’s almost like you know everything about me.”

“Yeah, how weird.” Katsuki’s lips brush against a sensitive spot on Eijirou’s neck, sending a shiver down his spine. “If you get us out of here early, I’ll make it worth your while,” he purrs before pressing a long kiss to Eijirou’s skin.

As Katsuki kisses up his neck, Eijirou lets out a shaky sigh. “We’ll stick around for the toasts and then I’m all yours.”

Katsuki hums, disgruntled. “Fine,” he acquiesces as the soft music starts to fade out, replaced by the sound of electric guitars and thumping bass.

“Now let’s party!” Mina shouts over the speakers and suddenly, they’re surrounded by their friends and family, all smiling wide and moving to the music now pulsing through the air.

Eijirou and Katsuki stay just as they are, wrapped up in each other and swaying back and forth slowly, despite the fast beat. After a few long moments of peace, Katsuki pulls back to look at Eijirou, eyes barely narrowed and lip jutted out in a slight pout.

Lips pressed together to suppress the smile threatening to stretch across his face, Eijirou asks, “What is it?”

“Kiss me, fucker.”

“Well, you don’t have to ask me twice,” Eijirou grins, ducking down to graze his lips against Katsuki’s. It’s so light, like a butterfly just barely brushing its wings against his skin and it sends a shudder down Katsuki’s spine. They’re surrounded by so many people, people who have been so influential in their lives and shaped their souls, but in this moment, it’s like they are the only people in the world. There’s a bubble around them, no other sound besides the soft sighs breathed into each other’s mouths and murmured ‘I love you’s against each other’s lips. Katsuki drags his hands up Eijirou’s body until he can drape his arms around Eijirou’s neck, splaying his fingers across his nape. As he moves his lips against Eijirou’s, he runs his hands across the shorn hair of Eijirou’s undercut and digs his fingers into the bun situated on the back of Eijirou’s head.

“You’re gonna mess up my hair,” Eijirou whispers, just centimeters between their lips so Katsuki feels the words more than hears them.

“Was gonna be messed up eventually,” he murmurs back before sealing their lips together once more, pulling Eijirou’s hair free and letting it down to kiss Eijirou’s shoulders. Eijirou makes a soft noise of discontent, but doesn’t pull away, choosing instead to dance his fingers up and down Katsuki’s spine.

“Get a room!” someone shouts from behind them and Katsuki flips them off over his shoulder, kissing Eijirou with even more vigor out of spite.

Eventually, they pull apart, panting softly, and Eijirou breaks out in his gorgeous, million-watt smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I love you,” he repeats for at least the eighth time since they started dancing.

“I love you, too, sap,” Katsuki mutters, a flush creeping up his neck as Eijirou bends to pull him into a hug. Katsuki goes on his tip-toes as he pulls Eijirou closer, burying his face in Eijirou’s neck.

“I can’t believe I get to be your husband,” Eijirou mumbles into his shoulder and it makes Katsuki’s cheeks catch fire. Even after all these years, he’s still not used to how open, how honest Eijirou is with his feelings.

Katsuki squeezes him tighter. “Yeah, you’re an unlucky son of a bitch.”

Eijirou gasps and pulls away, much to Katsuki’s dismay. “Hey, no way!” he cries, eyes burning with conviction. “I’m the luckiest man in the entire world.”

“No,” Katsuki disagrees, his own eyes reflecting that fiery certainty like two red-hot coals, “because I’m the luckiest bastard on this earth to be married to you.”

“It’s not a competition!”

“It is now, and I don’t lose, asshole.”

Their conversation is cut short when Eijirou is pulled away from Katsuki by his mama, pout evident on his features. Smug smirk on his face, Katsuki stands alone on the dancefloor, debating going to take a seat. Before he can slip away, Denki bounces up, crying out, “Kacchan!” He hooks a thumb over his shoulder at the band setup on stage. “What do you say, man? One last time before we all go our separate ways?”

“Fine,” Katsuki groans, though it’s mostly just for show. Normally, it’d take a little more twisting of his arm to get him to agree to something like this, but he would have agreed even if Eijirou wasn’t now standing behind Denki, flashing a thumbs up at him and pointing towards the stage encouragingly, because it’s his fucking wedding and he can do what he wants. And what he really wants is to beat the hell out of some drums and remind his circus of idiots who’s the best.

“Hell yeah, Kacchan’s in!” Denki whoops, raising his hands above his head. The crowd bursts into cheers as Katsuki makes his way onto the stage, sitting on the stool behind the drums.

Kyouka, Denki, Momo, and Fumikage follow behind him, taking their places at their instruments.

Kyouka wraps her hand around the microphone and tells the crowd, “Hey, everyone! We’re so happy to be here to play for you all and celebrate the marriage of our good friends, Katsuki and Eijirou! I still remember the day that Katsuki told me about his crush on Eijirou. Or should I say, the night. We had just started our second year. It was 3AM and I was woken up by this horrible banging on my dorm room door and I was pissed, okay? Like pissed. I threw the door open and Katsuki didn’t even say hi, he just barged in and grunted out,” she pitches her voice down to imitate Katsuki’s gravel, “‘Ears, we’re playing,’ and took a seat at my drum set. Now, the only time that Katsuki ever visited was when he had something on his mind and needed to bang on the drums to get rid of the pent-up emotions, so I just rolled my eyes and grabbed my guitar. I had my room sound-proofed when we first moved in so we played together until the sun came up. It was a school night, so I knew I needed to pry it out of him before I kicked him out so I could get ready for class and finally, after I grill him for a good half hour, he tells me that he has a crush on Eijirou and he wasn’t sure what to do about it. And I was so tired, I couldn’t help but laugh. Right in his face. Obviously, he didn’t take that very well, but I caught him before he could stomp out and I told him that it was so clear that Eijirou felt the same way. Everyone knew they were totally gone for each other. We even had a betting pool going between all the kids in class on when they’d get their shit together and finally start dating. I figured that knowing that Eijirou felt the same would push Katsuki to confess or y’know, do something, but it still took them over a year to get together! I lost so much money, man.” She turns to look at Katsuki. “You owe me 5000 yen, asshole.”

The audience laughs, but Katsuki knows that she’s being serious.

“Anyway, this song is called ‘Hero Too’! We haven’t played together in a while, so be gentle with us. Let’s hit it!”

Katsuki nods, taking the cue to slam his sticks into the cymbals, five, six, seven, eight. “Let’s go!” he yells as he starts to bang out a beat, letting the music thump in his chest, an 808 heartbeat. His muscles remember every movement, a flow of second nature. Each hit brings him higher and higher, adrenaline pumping in his veins as the rest of the instruments join in. Kyouka starts the first verse and Katsuki can’t help the grin that pulls at his lips. He’s always loved the feeling of being in front of a crowd, feeding off their energy. Their friends and family cheer them on as they group around the stage.

Eijirou is in the front row, bouncing and laughing and dancing. Katsuki pulls his eyes away from the drums long enough to send him a wink, making his husband blush. Eijirou turns to the person standing next to him and yells out, "That's my husband!" like he's just so proud that it doesn't matter that the person definitely already knows that he's married to Katsuki.

The word husband ping pongs around Katsuki's head, making a horde of jittery butterflies take flight in his stomach. It's still unbelievable to him that he's married to the most loving, most accepting and kind man on the planet; it feels like something that will never quite sink in. It feels like a dream that Eijirou chose him, that Eijirou is proud to be by his side.

"I love you," Eijirou mouths to him, then breaks out in the most brilliant, beautiful smile that Katsuki has ever seen. It sends Katsuki through the roof, his heart raging in his chest.

The only thing he can think to do to convey his love is play harder, play better for his husband as he screams out, "I love you!"

Denki laughs from where he's shredding next to Katsuki. "Love you too, bro!" he calls out over the music, earning a middle finger from Katsuki.

Denki pouts, but keeps playing his guitar as the song nears its end.

Singing the last verse, Kyouka crosses the stage and crouches down in front of Eijirou to extend a hand and pull Eijirou onto the stage. She passes Eijirou the microphone as the final chorus starts and Eijirou grins, eyes glittering with excitement. Face alight, Eijirou sings his heart out, turning to face Katsuki as he belts the lyrics. Katsuki's always loved Eijirou's voice, happy to listen to Eijirou quietly sing as they cuddle in bed and fall asleep to the sound of his lilting voice. And now, amplified into the room as Katsuki and the band play behind, it sounds even better and Katsuki feels pride swell in his chest.

They finish the song with a beautiful high note and an elaborate drum solo, grinning at each other as the music fades out. "That was amazing!" Eijirou cheers, coming behind the drum set to sweep Katsuki up in a hug. Katsuki instinctively wraps his legs around Eijirou's waist and buries his face in the crook of Eijirou's neck. Eijirou spins them around, his warm hands coasting up and down Katsuki's back. Kyouka thanks the crowd and Eijirou carries Katsuki off the stage, only setting him down when they've made it to the dance floor.

"I believe it's time for the toasts!" Kyouka says into the mic as the rest of the band exit the stage.

Eijirou slips his hand into Katsuki's and leads them over to their assigned table to sit. Sitting with them at the table are Eijirou's moms, Mina, Camie (Mina's date), Deku, and Ochako (Deku's fiancé and date). Kiyoko, Eijirou’s mama, flashes a smile at Katsuki while Aiko, Eijirou’s mom, whispers to Eijirou as they take their seats.

Mina taps a fork against her glass of champagne to call everyone’s attention to her as she speaks. “I guess since I’m maid of honor, I’ll go first,” she shrugs, then turns to Eijirou and Katsuki. “I’ve known Eiji for a long time and because I’ve known him for so long, I can say that I know him better than basically everyone. Katsuki’s probably the only person who has me beat in that department. And maybe his mamas. Okay, several people know him better, but that’s not the point!” She waves her hands in front of her face. “The point is that I was lucky enough to be front row to his big transformation. I got to watch him grow from this scared little boy into the amazing, caring, incredible man you see in front of you today. It’s like he’s a little caterpillar that blossomed into a beautiful butterfly.” Their guests laugh along with Eijirou, who shakes his head as he chuckles. “And then you have our dear Blasty, who went through his own metamorphosis from asshole to asshole with a soft side. Everyone was totally scared of him when we started school and avoided him like the plague, but not Eiji. Eiji saw something in Katsuki that the rest of us didn’t. And it’s because of his stubbornness and his ability to see the best in other people that I’m lucky enough to call Katsuki one of my best friends. So thank you, Eiji. You forced your way into Katsuki’s life and his heart and paved the way for the rest of us to invade his life. I’m so glad you did because you both mean so much to me. It’s a cruel, scary world out there, we’ve all seen it, and I am beyond happy that you were able to find each other in this life. You both deserve the absolute world and I’m so happy for you. You have weathered so much terrible shit—” She smacks a hand over her mouth. “Sorry! You have weathered so much terrible stuff and still you stand here by each other’s side. It’s inspiring and you two make me believe in love,” she says, clutching her chest dramatically before raising her glass. “A toast to the lovesick losers, may you have a happy life together!”

“Mina!” Eijirou cries, tears beading in his eyes. He jumps up and pulls her into a hug. “That was beautiful,” Katsuki hears him whisper before giving her a kiss on the cheek and sitting back down.

“Do you mind if I say a few words?” Kiyoko asks Katsuki and Eijirou.

“Of course, mama!” Eijirou assures as Katsuki gives a curt nod.

Kiyoko smiles, then stands. “Hi, everyone. I’ll do my best not to take up too much of your time and leave the long speeches for my baby’s wonderful friends.” She takes a breath, then settles a hand on Eijirou’s shoulder. “When my little Eijirou made it into UA, he was so excited, as were we. Of course, we were also worried about the danger of the line of work he wanted to pursue, but he was just so happy to have gotten into his dream school that we couldn’t bear to take that away from him. When the attack at USJ happened, Aiko and I were beside ourselves with worry, ready to pull him from UA. But Eijirou came home that day and all he could talk about was this boy named Bakugou. And that wasn’t the last time this boy came up. ‘Mama, Bakugou is so cool!’ ‘Bakugou did this amazing move in training today!’ ‘Bakugou’s so cute, it’s not fair!’” Eijirou groans and drops his head into his hands, ears turning a bright red from where they peek through his curtain of hair. “Eijirou talked about Katsuki like he hung the stars in the sky. He was so enamored, it made my heart ache. I now worried for his safety and his heart. But the day that Eijirou finally brought home the famous Bakugou, I realized I didn’t need to worry anymore. Or worry as much, I should say. It was clear that Katsuki was just as completely smitten as Eijirou and even better, it was clear that Eijirou had someone in his corner, someone that could watch his back when I wasn’t there. He had a partner , an equal who would stand by his side through everything. And I couldn’t have asked for a better partner for our Eijirou than Katsuki or a better man to join our family. He’s strong, he’s tenacious, he’s unrelenting, but he’s also kind and cares about Eijirou more than anything. Of course I still worry about Eijirou every moment of every day, but it helps to know that someone else is there, right by his side, and worrying about him, too. I trust Katsuki with my whole heart and I know that Eijirou does, too. I know I’ve already said this, but thank you, Katsuki, for always taking care of my baby and welcome to the family.” Squeezing Eijirou’s shoulder, she brings her other hand up to wipe at her teary eyes. “Finding your soulmate in this lifetime is something so few of us achieve, and finding a love as good and as pure as yours is an even rarer occurrence. Please never take that love for granted and always cherish each other with everything you have. I hope that you both are never anything but incandescently happy together.”

"Mama…" Eijirou breathes, tears now falling freely down the slope of his cheeks. As she sits back down, he takes her hand in his and rubs his thumb over her knuckles. “Thank you,” he whispers.

Kiyoko reaches over with her other hand to take Katsuki’s and squeeze it lightly. “I meant every word,” she assures with a soft smile.

“Uh, I guess that just leaves me?” comes Izuku’s voice from across the table. He stands up hesitantly, glass in hand.

“Yeah, man, go for it!” Eijirou encourages, grinning wide.

“Alright,” Izuku starts, then a small smile pulls at his lips. “If you know me, which most of you do, you know that I’m observant and analytical to a fault.” This earns a few chuckles from the room, with a very distinct sound of someone choking on their drink and cackling. Ochako coughs a few times, pounding her chest, and waves an apology, which Izuku meets with an unamused look. “You will also know that I’m always watching and taking notes about the people around me. It started as hero analysis, taking notes on behaviors and fighting styles and the like so that I could make up strategies to beat them, but at some point, my notes just shifted to everyday observations. I learned that Ochako never steps on a crack when she walks on a sidewalk and that Tenya hates when his food touches. I learned that Fumikage loves classical music and Mezo is frustratingly good at rock paper scissors. And I learned that Kacchan had a crush on Eijirou before even he knew. Because Kacchan and I have been friends since we were little kids—”

“We’re not friends, nerd!” Katsuki barks.

Izuku rolls his eyes and shoots Katsuki a glare. “Shut the fuck up, I’m trying to be nice, asshole!” He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, then slowly lets it out. “Anyway, because we’ve been friends for years, I’ve gotten to see first hand how he’s changed and matured as we’ve gotten older. I’ve seen the difference between how he acted when we were younger and how he acts now, how much he’s grown in the time that I’ve known him. When it came to Eijirou, I noticed small things, at first. Like how Kacchan started to call Eijirou by his name and not some rude nickname and how Kacchan allowed Eijirou to come along on his hiking trips. Then Kamino happened and all that analyzing and observation came to a head. That night, I told Eijirou that it had to be him that reached out to Kacchan to save him. And that’s something I still believe. It has to be Eijirou. What Eijirou and Kacchan have, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. They’re perfect for each other, two sides of the same coin or two puzzle pieces created to fit perfectly together. There’s just no one else that could possibly come close to being as good a partner for Kacchan. And vice versa. They’re made for each other and anyone can see that.” Izuku runs a slightly shaking hand through his unruly hair, which still sticks up every which way despite the product combed through it. Even now, Izuku isn’t the best in front of crowds. Katsuki rolls his eyes. The twerp is gonna have to get used to the attention if he wants to be number one. “Kyouka mentioned it earlier, but before they started dating, our class had a betting pool on when Kacchan and Eijirou would get together because we could see the chemistry there, the longing looks and the lovesick sighs and the way they gravitated towards each other. Everyone in class had money in it; we all could see how they looked at each other and we just wanted to see them figure out their feelings and get together! So we started taking bets and after a year, I became a whole lot richer. We all knew how they felt about each other, but I know Kacchan and I knew it’d take him a long time to come to terms with his feelings. Every time I would even suggest that Kacchan felt anything other than strictly platonic feelings for Eijirou, he’d completely shut me down. He insisted that he didn’t,” Izuku holds up his hand to put air-quotes around his words, “‘feel all that sappy shit about Shitty Hair, get out of here, shitty nerd.’ But he couldn’t lie to me, I knew the truth. You see, Kacchan could deny it all he wanted, but Eijirou was always the first person that Kacchan looked at when someone told a joke, just to check if Eijirou was laughing. Always, without fail. It even happened when Eijirou wasn’t in the room. Someone would tell a joke and as everyone erupted into laughter, Kacchan’s eyes always searched for Eijirou. And when he couldn’t be found, Kacchan would always take out his phone and send a text to him. That’s how I knew that Kacchan was in love.” Izuku shrugs. “Kacchan may not have noticed that he even did it, but I did. I noticed. Before, Kacchan never cared about other people, content to conquer the world all on his own. But after Eijirou came into his life, it was like something shifted. Suddenly, he had friends, he had a family. He started to care about little things like if our classmates were upset after being scolded or if I was able to control my quirk or if Eijirou laughed at a joke. And it was amazing to witness this transformation. It’s what I’ve always wanted for him.” Izuku turns to face Eijirou, a small smile on his face. “I know Mina already said this before, but thank you, Eijirou, for taking a chance on Kacchan. Kacchan and I have a long, complicated history, but it’s because of you and your influence that things really changed between us; you helped us bridge what felt like an insurmountable gap. I’ll be forever in your debt for bringing back my best friend. I wish you both nothing but the best.” He raises his glass in the air. “To Kacchan and Eijirou!”

“To Kacchan and Eijirou!” the guests parrot in amused tones, making Katsuki pinch the bridge of his nose and groan.

Eijirou settles a hand on Katsuki’s thigh, leaning over and murmuring in his ear, “I love you, Kacchan.”

“Oh, shut the fuck up,” Katsuki scoffs, pressing a hand into Eijirou’s face to push him away. Cackling at his joke, Eijirou just loops his fingers around Katsuki’s wrist and holds his hand to his face so that he can place kiss after kiss on Katsuki’s palm. “You’re the fucking worst,” Katsuki complains, but doesn’t move his hand, happy to feel the gentle press of Eijirou’s lips against his skin. “I want a divorce,” he says, though the small smile pulling at his lips and the soft tone of his voice lessen the blow of his words.

“Don’t even joke about that, Katsuki!” Eijirou cries, his little eyebrows shooting up towards his hairline. “This is ‘til death do we part and I intend to see that through until the end.”

“Guess I’ll just have to kill you, then.”

Eijirou dives forward until they’re nearly nose to nose. “You won’t be able to get rid of me that easy!”

“We’ll see about that,” Katsuki snaps back, narrowing his eyes before butting Eijirou’s head playfully.

Rising to the challenge, Eijirou just tips his head forward until their foreheads are pressed together and smiles as he stares into Katsuki's eyes. His eyes sparkle like two rubies in the sunlight streaming in the room, so full of love and affection that it makes Katsuki's chest ache. "I love you," he whispers again, but this time it's not a lilting tease.

"I love you, too, dummy," Katsuki whispers back before sealing their lips in a slow, languid kiss. "Wanna get out of here?" he asks against Eijirou's lips.

"Absolutely," Eijirou murmurs, then takes Katsuki's hand and pulls him up as he stands. "Thank you all for coming and all your kind words," he addresses their crowd. "We love each and every one of you and it's an honor to have you all with us for our special day. Please enjoy the rest of the reception!”

Everyone joins them in standing and chatter fills the room as Kyouka makes her way towards the stage once more. As she picks up her guitar and soft music starts to bubble out of the speakers, Eijirou pulls Katsuki towards the back door of the building.

Before they can escape, though, Mina skids in front of them, blocking their exit. "Hey, where are you two going?" she gasps, spreading her arms out in front of them so they can't pass. "You can't leave before we have cake!"

Katsuki slides a hand across the small of Eijirou's back and settles it on his waist as he leans his head on Eijirou's shoulder. "Just save some for us in some fuckin' Tupperware."

"Hell no! You're staying!" She narrows her blazing dark eyes, expression offering no room for argument. “I did not plan all this just for you to dip out halfway through!”

“Oh, were the two lovebirds trying to sneak off to consummate the wedding?” Denki purrs as he sidles up with the rest of their merry band of idiots, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

The little group that’s now formed around Katsuki and Eijirou to prevent them from slipping out all erupt into uproarious laughter, teasing grins stretched across their faces. Katsuki rolls his eyes, used to the mocking after the years that he and Eijirou have been together, but without a second thought, his eyes skate over to his husband. Eijirou’s face is a damning red, nearly bleeding into his dyed hair, and he scratches the back of his neck sheepishly before a loud laugh bursts from his chest, making his shoulders shake and displace Katsuki's head.

The sight of Eijirou laughing so freely, even if it is at their expense, makes warmth drip down Katsuki’s chest like molten honey. All Katsuki ever wants in life is to see his husband happy, to see that blinding smile that makes his eyes scrunch up and his freckled cheeks dimple on his face every moment he’s breathing, so he lets the joke hang in the air for a long, drawn out moment. Eijirou’s eyes turn to meet his and they have a silent exchange, which ends in Eijirou’s shoulders popping up in a slight shrug as he motions a ‘go ahead’ with his head. Katsuki takes the cue for what it is and dives at Denki, palms sparking and barking, “Don’t be fucking disgusting! Why did we invite this asshole again?”

Denki lets out a shriek and pulls Mina in front of him, begging for his life. "Hey, you can't kill the best man!" he cries, peeking over Mina's shoulder.

"Deku's my best man!" Katsuki roars, pointedly ignoring the sound of Eijirou snickering as he grips Denki’s arm and yanks him away from Mina. Denki screams, raising his hands to cover his head, but not before Katsuki lets off a small explosion, singeing his perfectly-styled hair. A yelp slips out of Denki’s mouth as he tries to smack Katsuki away; Katsuki easily dodges the swipe and wraps an arm around Denki’s neck, pulling him close to dig his knuckles into his scalp.

“This is assault!” Denki whines as he goes limp in Katsuki’s chokehold.

With a huff, Katsuki wrinkles his nose and looks up from where he’s hunched over with Denki’s body and suddenly, it’s as if the world stops turning. The insult he had planned on spitting gets stuck in his throat because in that exact moment, sunlight streams in through the plate glass windows above them and halos Eijirou is a golden glow, illuminating his bright hair and making his smile shine brighter than the sun as he throws his head back to laugh. All noise outside of that laugh disappears, all the people surrounding them fade away as the world narrows down to just Katsuki and the love and light of his life. Katsuki, as if pulled by gravity, releases Denki and closes the distance between himself and Eijirou, drifting forward like a comet sailing across the vast expanse of space towards the sun. Eijirou quirks an eyebrow as he approaches, but the moment that Katsuki wraps his arms around his neck and pulls him down into a mind-numbing kiss, he immediately reciprocates, letting out a lovesick sigh as he clutches Katsuki’s hips and digs his fingers in possessively. They move together in a dance they’ve long perfected and mastered, totally in sync just as they are on the battlefield. Every moment lights Katsuki up like a firework, a fuse lit in the pit of his stomach that sings when Eijirou slides his hands around Katsuki’s waist. Katsuki tangles his fingers in Eijirou’s hair, pulling lightly to draw out the fire in Eijirou. His provocation works and Eijirou drags his sharp teeth across Katsuki’s bottom lip just the way Katsuki likes, causing a shiver to race down his spine. Katsuki tips his head to the side to deepen their kiss and—

“I know someone already said this, but seriously, get a room!

“What was that for?” Eijirou breathes when he pulls away, his voice cracking and sounding awed.

“Because I fucking love you, angel. And you’re my goddamn husband and I just needed to kiss that stupid smile off your face, okay? That good enough for you?”

“Oh, a pet name? Today’s my lucky day!”

“Mention it again and it’ll be the last time,” Katsuki growls, then slides his hands down Eijirou’s chest to grab his lapels to pull him back in for another bruising kiss.

The little hum that Eijirou makes when Katsuki kisses him might be the greatest sound that Katsuki has ever heard, apart maybe from Eijirou’s laugh and the shuddering sigh Eijirou lets out when they part, and now he gets to hear all of those wonderful noises for the rest of his life.

“I guess we can stay for the cake,” Eijirou concedes, not taking his eyes off of Katsuki, their foreheads pressed together.

“I don’t fucking care what we do, as long as you’re right next to me.”

“Always will be,” Eijirou promises, lifting Katsuki’s hand to his lips so he can press a kiss to the ring sitting on his finger. “Always.”
