At the Gala, every celebrities wore their best gowns and fancy suits. Models and actors are everywhere. There were also businessmen and women who are present at the big event.
The conference building was large enough for multiple celebrities in the country. They walked their best walk, some elegant walk, some sophisticated walk on the red carpet. If you wanted to look at handsome and beautiful people, this will be the exact place for you! Cause even celebrities at an old age, doesn’t look old at all!
Suddenly, there was a red luxurious car stopping in front of the venue. When the person opened the door of the car, everyone screamed at the handsomeness of the newcomer. Said newcomer is no other than, Wei Wuxian.
Wei Ying’s fans scream as soon as he step on the red carpet. He was then met by multiple clicks of the cameras held by several photographers or paparazis. He smiled his best smile and waved at the people on every side. He looked to the left and waved and then to the right as he walked on the red carpet with an elegance reserved during these occasions.
When he entered the building, he immediately roam his eyes around searching for his family. When he found them, he joined them. After getting acquainted with his adoptive family, he excused himself to find his friends.
A few moments, he saw them at a nearby table. His smile widened as he approach them.
“Hi guys! You all look beautiful and handsome tonight.”
“You’re handsome yourself, Wei Ying!” says Shi Qingxuan as the others gave him a smile greeting him as well. “Though something is missing..” she added as she looked at Wuxian with scrutiny.
“Something missing? What? Something wrong with my suit?” he said frowning as he looked at himself.
Shen Yuan rolled her eyes at that. “Of course not, Wei Ying. What Qingxuan meant was that you’re lacking a plus one. You never lack one when it comes to galas.”
Wei Ying sits on an empty space beside Hua Cheng and sighed. “Don’t remind me. I’ve been trying not to think about it."
“Thankfully, the host didn’t grill you so much about it when you entered, A-Xian.” Says Xie Lian with a gentle smile. She’s like a second sister to him that’s why she calls him like that. Her boyfriend Hua Cheng, didn’t like that at first and felt jealous. But when he realized just how childish Wei Ying can be, he stopped bothering about it.
“Yeah, I'm glad they let me be. They cant get anything from me anyways. I have to protect my queen no matter what. She doesn’t like publicity after all.”
“Is that why you never mention her name whenever you post something related to her?”
“Yeah. She likes a private life. So even though I was a bit disappointed she didn’t want to come, I respect her decision about it.”
“A bit? Really Wei Ying?” says Hua Cheng smirking.
“ Shut up old man. Don’t start with me."
The man snorted but did not say anything.
“By the way Wei Ying, is she your girlfriend now?”
He groaned slightly and said. “How I wish! But no. I only get to be her boyfriend after my retirement from the modeling industry.”
There was a pause among them before someone spoke again.
“Wei Ying, is it really right to quit modelling just for her? You love her that much? I mean no offense to Wangji but.. I think you know what I mean.” asks Shen Shen making his friends look at him anticipating his answer.
“Well, she maybe part of it yes. But even before I found out she doesn’t like to date models, because of publicity, you know, I’ve been contemplating to quit modelling really. So when she rejected me because of my profession, I think that was the confirmation for me to actually quit. Why Shen Shen? Would you miss little old me once I’m gone?”
The woman rolled her eyes at that. “As if.”
“Me! I will miss you Wei Ying.'' says Shi Qingxuan with a pout.
“I’m flattered, QingXuan. But stop it cause somebody’s drinking vinegar somewhere!"
The others laughed at that eyes going towards He Xuan, Qing Xuan’s best friend who is sitting beside her already eating. The woman on the other hand asked. “Who’s drinking vinegar?” making them mentally facepalm at their dense friend.
“Aiya! If it goes like this-“ Says Wei Ying but he stopped when he was interrupted by a shout of “Lan Xichen has arrived! Kyaaahh!” from a girl group nearby.
Wei Ying looked at them and laughed. “ Xichen ge is really amazing! He’s like a celebrity despite his businessman status.”
“Can’t blame the girls. Men like Lan Xichen has always been my type ever since college! Ahhh!!” says Qingxuan and they heard someone choke nearby, making Qingxuan turn to her side. “A-Xuan, are you alright? Here drink water. Aiya, I thought I told you to stop eating so fast?" she said giving He Xuan the glass of water.
Wei Ying and the others can’t help but shake their heads at this.
“I agree with you, QingXuan. Lan Xichen is definitely an ideal man during colle- Ah ah! Binghe! What are you crying for? That was only when I was in college! And that was just some stupid crush!” Shen Yuan said when she saw her boyfriend sitting beside her already crying rivers of tears.
Shi Qing Xuan looked sheepish as she witnessed Shen Yuan comforting her boyfriend. “Uhmm.. when I have a boyfriend one day, I should be careful not to speak about my past crushes while they are present. Haha But let me look at Xichen-ge since I’m still single after all. haha” she said making her friends look at He Xuan with pity.
“Wait, whose that chick beside him? I can’t see her since he’s taller than her.”
“Xichen-ge has a chick?? Let me see! I’ll definitely tell Lan Zhan about it. Haha ”
They all looked towards where Lan Xichen and said woman was being interviewed by the host. “ Mr. Lan, how are you in this fine evening? How are you feeling seeing how you’ve got so many fans from our celebrities here most especially from the girl groups?”
Xichen smiles as he turn his head to look at said girl group which made them scream in delight. “I’m honored to have such fans. And my evening has been lovely! Most especially because I have with me the most special woman in my life. “ He said making his fans moan in disappointment.
“What the heck? I will definitely tell Lan Zhan about this like right now. Haha” says Wei Ying as he pulls out his phone from his pocket.
“ Don’t you think she already knows? She’s his sister after all."
“Ah, you’re right! Why didn’t I thought about that? Then I’ll just take a look at whoever his lover is." he said as he inclined his head looking at the person beside Xichen. But then he was frustrated because he also can’t see who the person was.
“Look at your fans, Mr. Lan! They sound disappointed by your response. So would you mind sharing who this special woman might be?”
They saw Xichen smile first as he turned to look at said woman.
The heck! He looks really inlove with her! Haha Wei Ying thought.
Lan Xichen replies, “She is my dear sister. Lan Wangji.”
Huh?
Lan Wangji?
He must have heard it wrong.. But his heart skips a beat at what he heard.
Lan Xichen’s fans went in an uproar again including Shi Qingxuan. “ Ahhh!! I still have a chance! Haha wait, dear sister? Wei Ying, that means..!”
Before the woman can continue what to say, Wei Ying was already on his feet walking albeit slowly towards where the interview is happening. He still can’t see the said woman’s face but his heart is beating so loudly in anticipation.
“Your sister? Ah! So this is the rumored, Ms. Lan! Such a gorgeous lady! How are you this fine evening, young miss? That hair looks so soft and smooth by the way.. hehe”
“Good.” Says a familiar voice making Wei Ying chant. She’s here! She’s here! She’s really here! I recognize that voice everywhere!
“That’s great, Ms. Lan! So, I’ve heard rumors about you in the past years. Your brother has been coming to the galas every year but you never come! Not until today! Would you mind sharing to us why?”
“Someone wanted me to come.”
Wei Ying bit his lower lip at that.
“But A-Zhan, I’ve been asking you to come with me the past years. And you did not. Is brother not that special to you?” says Lan Xichen beside his sister seemingly pouting making the fans and the host make heart eyes at such a cute gesture.
“Brother.” Says the woman making the crowd laugh. Lan Xichen laughs at the cuteness of his sister while Wei Ying grins letting out a soft laugh at their interaction.
“ It seems that the brother is jealous! Haha This person must have been really special no? Are they Ms. Lan? ”
“Mn.”
“Oh! Mind sharing to us who? We’re gonna find it out eventually later but if you want, you can also share it with us now. I’m really curious. And surely everyone as well yeah?"
Wei Ying paused from his walk at that. Because what if Lan Zhan only came for him but would not like to reveal their relationship? Wouldn’t they just sit separately later while looking at each other from afar?
Sigh. He turn around planning to walk back to his seat. But before he can proceed, he heard Lan Zhan utter. “ Wei Ying.”
There was a deafening shout and cheering all around the place as Wei Ying turns his body around so fast his mouth agape. He thinks the loudest shout came from Shi QingXuan but he could care less as of the moment. Because when he turn, he can now see Lan Zhan looking straight at him.
Oh, no wonder when she said his name it seems like she’s calling him. She must have already seen him when he turned around.
The noise seems to mute for a moment as he took her in. Her usual formal bun was formed into an elegant high ponytail. He noticed that she is wearing a night make up but not that dark. Just enough to enhance her already beautiful face.
She is wearing a silver white dangling earrings. Her gown is a royal blue mermaid floral gown with long sleeves and turtle neck. The sleeves are somewhat see through as well as the part above her breast. The tips of her gown spread wide elegantly. It suits her very much.
Wei Ying can only gulp at that. The woman has always been gorgeous in his eyes after all. Now, as she dressed up… He feels like he somehow regretted ever wanting to see her at the gala. Because now, he doesn’t think he can sleep well later!
But that’s a problem for another time. For now, he has to continue walking towards his queen whose eyes look really delightful despite of the blank face.
“Oh, look at that! Who would have thought it would be our dear Wei Wuxian! He’s even come here himself! Is it possible that Ms. Lan was the one who melted the heart of our dear womanizer?” says the host when Wei Ying got close to them.
And to everyone’s surprise and another uproar, he made a show of reaching for Lan Zhan’s hand and kissed the knuckles eyes trained on her eyes all the while. After that, he answered without looking away from the woman. “Yes. She is indeed the one who melt this lowly man’s heart."
Lan Zhan’s tips of ears blush at that.
“How romantic! If I’m not wrong, is Ms. Lan the rumored girlfriend of our dear Wei Wuxian? The one he won’t mention on his posts no matter how his fans urged him to reveal?”
Wei Ying laughs at that and was going to deny the fact because Lan Zhan is not his girlfriend yet. But to his surprise, the woman suddenly uttered. “Mn.”
He immediately whip his head to look at the her. When he did, he sees Lan Zhan already looking at him her eyes soft with.. love.
The host continued to sing praises on how romantic Wei Ying’s life turned out to be and asked them a few more questions before letting them go.
Wei Ying led them to his friends after he spoke with Xichen how he is going to snatch his sister not for a bit but for the rest of the night. The man only laughed at him and said please return his sister to him after the night ends to which made the man laughed out loud but promised that he will. After all, he has to be gentleman like that. Wouldn’t want his soon to be brother in law( hopefully) to hate him at this early stage.
His friends spoke with Lan Zhan and then teased Wei Ying for the duration of time. The man can only accept his fate at that.
Later, the dancing begun and he invited the woman to dance excusing the two of them to his friends. “Go ahead, Wei Ying! We’ll join you two later."
When they get to the dancefloor, the song “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran played.
Wei Ying reach out for Lan Zhan’s hands and places it slowly on his shoulders then he put his hands on the woman’s narrow waist. Lan Zhan encircle her arms around his neck making the man feel shivers down his spine. They then sway to the beat.
I found the love for me
Darling just dive right in, follow my lead
They look into each others eyes as if glued with each other.
I found a girl beautiful and sweet (Wei Ying sang along making the woman gave one of her small smiles)
I never knew you were that someone waiting for me
Cause I’m just an intern and fell in love(Wangji sang along this time but she revised the lyrics making Wei Ying laugh at that)
Not knowing what it was
“Really?” he asked.
“Mn.”
I will not give you up this time
Darling just kiss me slow
“How I wish she would do that to me, Ed Sheeran haha” he says making Lan Zhan pinch his neck slightly. He only laugh at that and taps her nose lightly before putting it back on her waist.
Your heart is all I own (They both sang along)
And in your eyes you’re holding mine
Baby, I’m dancing in the dancefloor (they both revised the last word making them laugh at their own joke)
“Great minds think alike huh Lan Zhan?”
“Mn.”
With you between my arms
Feeling like I’m flying( revises Lan Zhan making Wei Ying laugh softly again)
As you look into my eyes my love
“Lan Zhan, how is it that you’re good at revising like this? Ah, I'm so envious.."
The woman only shrug. Wei Ying only laugh softly at that feeling giddy.
When you said you look a mess
I whispered underneath my breath you heard it
Lan Zhan, you look perfect tonight (Sings Wei Ying making the other blush hiding her face in his chest)
The man chuckles. “Aiya, don’t hide from me, Lan Zhan. I can’t look at you this way!” but she did not listen to him so he just smiles and continued to sing along.
Well I found a woman stronger than anyone I know
She shares my dreams I hope that someday I share her home
“Wei Ying “
“hmm?”
I found a love
“Are you certain?”
To carry more than just my secrets
“Certain for what?”
“Quit modelling.”
Wei Ying smiles once more. "Ah.."
To carry love to carry children of our own
He gently urge Lan Zhan to look at him. “I’ve never been more sure my whole life, Lan Zhan.” He says as he looked into her eyes once more.
Cause we were still kids and we’re so inlove
Lan Zhan melt at his words looking at him with soft eyes.
Fighting against all odds
I know we’ll be alright this time
Feeling the urge to kiss her he says remembering what Lan Zhan said yesterday during their date. “I’m gonna shoot you with an arrow, Lan Zhan.”
Darling just hold my hand
Be my girl, I’ll be your man
She smiles “Not a bullet?” she says remembering their conversation during their date as well.
I see my future in your eyes
“No. I’d like to be unique.” he says laughing

“Alright. Hit me then.”
Barefoot on the grass
Listening to my favorite song
Leaning in to whisper in her ear, he says. “Lan Zhan, I want to kiss you.”
Lan Zhan's breath hitch after hearing the words.
When I saw you in that dress
Looking so beautiful
I don’t deserve this
Lan Zhan you look perfect tonight
Wei Ying smiles seeing how Lan Zhan hid herself on his chest once again. Clearly feeling embarrassed at what he said.
How cute! He thought
They continue to sway as the song is ending. “Lan Zhan, you really took me by surprise. What made you change your mind and come here hm?”
“Wei Ying.”
Wei Ying pouts, “ I was the one who changed your mind? What’s up with that? Have you been planning to come all this time ?”
“Mn.”
He gasp. “So while I was pestering you to come with me, you already made up your mind to come?"
“Mn.”
He groans, “How unfair! Lan Zhan, you just lied to me! I thought lying is forbidden in your vocabulary?"
“I did not lie.”
“How so?”
“I did say no to Wei Ying. However, this one never mentioned she will not come to the gala. ”
Oh right. That’s true, isn’t it? Everytime he asks the woman about going with him to the gala, she would only say no. But she never said anything more than that.
He groan once more. “You really have a way with your words huh.. You smart woman..” He says making her smile in secret.
They went quiet for the next moments as the song Perfect ends and changed to another song.
“Sooo Lan Zhan! Since you didn’t deny the host’s question about you being my rumored girlfriend earlier, does that mean what I think it means?”
Lan Zhan did not respond immediately. But when she did, it made Wei Ying’s heart jump in utter joy. “Mn. If Wei Ying wants.”
“Really?? But I thought we will wait until my contract ends?”
The other pull away and look into his eyes saying, “I want it to be memorable. For Wei Ying.”
He laughs feeling warm and giddy. "Wow, are you for real?"
"Are you happy?"
"I'm more than happy. Thank you, Lan Zhan." Wei Ying said and hugs her.
They sway to the beat while hugging. As they did, someone interrupts them. Wei Ying tried not to show his disappointment.
“Ms. Lan! Hi Wei Ying!” says the someone who is none other than Sun Lin.
“Yeah, hi there, Sun Lin! What's up?" he says with a forceful cheer in his voice when they look at her pausing from dancing.
“What a surprise this is? I thought Ms. Lan wouldn’t be coming to the gala?” says the other female looking at Lan Zhan. Her smile look so plastic that the man wants to roll his eyes. But he didn’t merely turning to look at his GIRLFRIEND’s reaction. His GIRLFRIEND! YES! WEI Ying wanted to shout about it from the rooftops! He feels like he’s out of his mind.
But he calm himself. Now is not the time for that. He has a woman to drive away after all.
“Mn.”
“So, you’re our dear Wei Ying’s rumored girlfriend huh? You must be feeling great about yourself seeing how you have stolen his heart."
The audacity! Who does she think she is?
“Sun Lin, what do-“ he starts to say but Lan Zhan interrupted him.
"Wei Ying, don't bother."
Wei Ying follow her though he wants to give Sun Lin a piece of his mind. After all, she has been bothering the two of them even going so far as to lying to Lan Zhan.
He sighed, "Fine."
“Wei Ying, this one would like to take a sit.”
"Okay! Sun Lin, excuse us." Says Wei Ying but suddenly, he felt a strong tug making him separate from Lan Zhan. And before he knew it, he was already beside Sun Lin whose arching an arm around his waist pulling him close to her and says. “Since Ms. Lan is going to sit down, why don’t we dance together Wei Ying? Surely Ms. Lan won’t be selfish about this right? ”
At first, Lan Zhan really did not want to argue with Sun Lin because she does not want to cause a scene. But the other is really testing her patience and more over she speaks of Wei Ying like he is some kind of a toy that she can borrow whenever she likes!
Wei Ying was just going to speak when Lan Zhan beat him to it. "Wei Ying, you are a grown man. Come here."
Immediately, the man sided with Lan Zhan. When he did, Lan Zhan looks at Sun Lin. "I do not know what you think of Wei Ying but for me, he is not a toy you can borrow whenever you like. He is a human who loves someone that is not you. I suggest you better stop before you make a fool of yourself further."
Sun Lin gape at what the other said.
"Let's go, Wei Ying."
"You heard her, Sun Lin. Stop bothering us or else, I will really give you a piece of my mind the next time you do. I love Lan Zhan and no one can change that. Lan Zhan, wait for me!" Wei Ying says at Sun Lin before following his girlfriend.
He went and grabs her arm. "Wei Ying what-“
"This place has so many people don't you think? I have a place I'd like you to see if you'd like." He says looking back at her as they continue to walk going towards the exit of the venue.
"If Wei Ying likes." She says with a twinkle of her eyes.
Wei Ying is right anyway. There are so many girls looking at his boyfriend clearly wanting to borrow him just like Sun Lin.
So together, they get inside Wei Ying's car with smiles on their faces. Without further ado, the man drives the car with excitement...
