Chapter Text
“I’m… tired,” Eret said gently, sensing someone he once knew behind her. An old friend turned enemy? Or maybe just an old friend with a bad falling out.
“So sleep,” The voice said, and Eret chuckled, watching the SMP be silent for once.
They were the only ones on. No wars. No battles, and no fights. Just the breeze and the smell of the sea. He took off her glasses, setting them inside of her mantle pocket they’d sewn in themself.
“There is a difference,” He started, his voice thick and more profound than usual, “Then being physically tired and emotionally tired.” They did sound exhausted, and they glanced back at the one standing with him on the balcony.
The tuft of brown curls with streaks of white mixed in. Brown eyes behind circular glasses that were connected by a small chain to help prevent losing them. The trench coat, dirty but loved and patched up over the years of use. The iconic yellow sweater was not much better. The brown pants were probably the best out of the entire outfit; Eret couldn’t help but take in every detail.
“Well, they’re connected. Aren’t they?” Wilbur asked, keeping their distance despite the fact that both wanted to step forward. “Healthy sleep promotes a healthy life.”
Eret grinned, refusing to meet Wilbur’s eyes. “Perhaps you’re right. But it’s been quite hard to sleep since you’ve been gone…”
“Oh c’mon now,” Wilbur spoke gently, stepping forward finally, invading Eret’s personal space with only a few steps, placing a hand on Eret’s shoulder. “I’m always here, my friend.”
“I know,” Eret said, the weight lifted from his shoulder as Wilbur faded from his sight. As the memory of Wilbur got picked up with the breeze, Eret stood alone in the night, and she stared at the spot she believed Wilbur once occupied.
The hallucinations are becoming way too real.
