The things we do to feel closer to each other

Chapter 12: A welcome home, that’s what it feels like

Summary:

George moved, cracking his eyes open. Stretching slightly, looking upward at Dream. “We there?”

Dream nodded, “we’re home.”

George smiled sleepily. “Home, I like that.”

“Home, we’re home.” Dream repeated, almost just mimicking George.

Chapter Text

The car pulled into the driveway, and Dream turned off the car engine. Sapnap jumping out immediately, “I’m going to go, I’ll be in the house. You can wake him up.”

Dream sighed, nodding vaguely, opening his car door. A gust of warm air running over his skin. Reminding him of Florida’s natural heat. Getting out and closing his door. Opening the backseat door, being met by George sleeping peacefully.

He looked so pretty and nice laying there. Dream watched as George stirred shifting in his sleep. Reluctantly Dream reached forward, nudging George with his hand.

George moved, cracking his eyes open. Stretching slightly, looking upward at Dream. “We there?”

Dream nodded, “we’re home.”

George smiled sleepily. “Home, I like that.”

“Home, we’re home.” Dream repeated, almost just mimicking George.

George smiled more. “Home, what a nice concept.” George moved, getting into a more sitting position. Rubbing his eyes. “So we’re here.”

Dream smiled back, “yeah, we are.”

Bobbing his head, George shifted closer to Dream and the open door. “I’m glad I get to see you. I’m glad I’m here.”

“I’m- I’m glad your here too. I really like you here.” Dream replied, stumbling over his words.

“You like me here?” George said, a questioning element to his voice.

“Yeah,” Dream said, almost like a whisper. As if it were some big secret he was telling, yet it wasn’t. It was like a fact. “I really like you here.”

George nodded, pushing himself out of the car. Dream grabbing his hand to stabilize him. George pulling them closer into a hug, resting his head against Dream’s upper chest. Dream instinctively wrapping George in his arms.

It was comforting existing with Dream. The air smelled different here in Florida. The smell of Dream. It was a pleasant type of smell. It was a clean smell. He couldn’t quite describe the smell, but it was a clean smell.

Sort of like fresh linen but if you mixed clean sheets with sort of a nice early spring smell. It was clean, that was the best way to describe it.

Florida smelled warm. But a sort of warm damp. Humid. It wasn’t an unpleasant damp warm. It was a comfortable warm. Like a good summer day in the UK. Except it wasn’t summer.

George wouldn’t describe it as nice, but it wasn’t bad. It made it more real. Being here. Here in Florida. He’d never quite been able to see it, or picture it. But George was sure nothing he could have ever been able to picture would have been quite like how it really was.

Maybe it was good that George couldn’t make scenarios and then have to live with the reality. It was just reality. And reality in his opinion right now was pretty great.

Pressed again Dream, in his arms. The feeling radiating from them both. It’s comforting, a sense of belonging. “I’ve wanted to do this for a while.” George admitted to Dream.

He could feel the skin on skin contact. He could feel Dream’s arms wrapped around him. He was real, this was real. And he was here.

“Me too,” Dream responded softly, holding George tighter. As if he would escape from his grasp. Or if this was a hyper realistic dream and if he let go he’d wake up and George was his only anchor.

They stood there for a little longer. “How about we go inside,” George suggested after a while.

“Yeah, sure.” Dream agreed. Letting George go. And nothing shifted or disappeared. It was still there. He wanted to feel George’s body on his again. The instant ache and desire for his touch. It felt right, it felt good. The extra weight on him comforting.

He walked around to the back of the car, opening the trunk. Pulling out George’s suitcase. “I can carry it, come on.”

George nodded, grabbing Dream’s free hand. Holding it in his own. It fit perfectly. Like their hands were meant to hold each others. It was, nice.

Walking towards the house, George opened the door. Waving at Sapnap. “Oh good, you’re done. I was worried you were going to have sex in a car, we have beds for a reason.”

“Sapnap,” George scolded, “no.”

Sapnap just looked amused. “Whatever, come here.”

George compiled, walking into Sapnap’s arms. This hug was different. Sapnap hugged him more evenly. Dream’s hug’s were like home. Sapnap’s were like belonging.

Breaking apart, Sapnap smiled happily, “your finally here.”

Dream chimed in from the doorway, “that he is.”

“You’re home.” Sapnap said soundly, “you can’t leave now. You can’t leave.”

George rolled his eyes, “I can’t leave. I guess I can stand that.”

“You guess??” Sapnap asked indignantly.

“I’ll form a stronger opinion after I sleep.” George decided, “Where’s my room?”

Sapnap snicked, “Up the stairs and two down.”

A couple seconds later George found out why as Dream processed. “Sapnap, that’s my room.”

Sapnap laughed, “exactly.”

A small smiled worked its way onto George’s features, “I’ll go find it myself then.”

Walking up the stairs passing by doors, opening and closing them. Sapnap’s, Dream’s. He opened one that had the sheets he’d sent over and some of his other tokens. Boxes of his stuff in a corner to be unpacked later.

He walked in. Sitting down on the bed and leaning back. It was nice. Nice here. Dream walked in with his suitcase, setting it down. Standing awkwardly, “I would have unpacked more of your stuff, but I don’t know where you’d want stuff.”

George laughed, “It’s fine Dream. Come on. C’mere.”

Dream obeyed. Sitting down next to George on the bed, a soft thump sounding as he lay down. George turned his head to look at him. “I’m here.”

Dream nodded, “you’re here.”

“I’m really glad I’m here.” George said, hand finding Dream’s. Holding it tightly.

Face slightly redder than it had been when he’d laid down Dream was inclined to agree. “It’s kinda amazing you being here right now.”

George made an agreeing noise, “yeah. It kinda is. It kinda is.”

“I don’t want you to ever leave.” Dream admitted quietly.

“Well I’ll probably leave the house to go on walks and stuff.” George responded playfully.

“You know what I mean idiot.” Dream said fondly. Unable to keep intense amounts of affection out of his voice.

“I know what you mean. I won’t leave, unless you’re with me. If I leave, I’ll take you with me.”

Dream glanced downward, and then to the side at George, “good.”

They both lay there quietly. Just enjoying each others company. It was nice, just to exist with the people you love. Especially if you haven’t been able to before.
