Chapter Text

Kyoya returned to school that next day a little more tired than he was the previous day. His shirt was more wrinkled than usual, and gray colored eye bags graced his exhausted-looking face. He trudged through the hallways, completely ignoring the worried stares of girls passerby at his state. As he passed another well lit hallway, a familiar ring of a voice made him raise his face to look in the general direction.

There Azra was, her straight black hair let loose in no updo in any kind. Her face was bright and lively. Kyoya scrunched his eyebrows at her well-restifulness. She was brightly conversing with the ‘main 3’ of the football club. The president was thoughtfully gnawing on an unpeeled orange, paying keen attention to whatever Azra was saying.

She started to walk further into the hallway, guiding the cub carefully as their attention kept undivided on her. She turned her head to the side a little, before she caught a little sight of a tall figure in her vision. She turned her head to look at Kyoya, and smiled.

“You all can go ahead, I'll be right with you.” She spoke to the football club representatives, and rushed over to where he was standing.

“So,” Kyoya mildly smiled at the receding figure of the 3 tall men. “I'm guessing it worked?”

“Yeah! They're open to having a manager to help them with their club. I just gotta convince them a little more, and I'll have the position!” Her face shone in a new shade of glee he had never seen before.

“I'm glad it worked, Azra.”

She looked hard at his solemn smile, and realization hit her. She slapped herself in the head, and dug around in her shoulder bag. Out she pulled a thin, wrapped package.

“I saw when I was at your house that you were missing a manga on your shelf, so I got it for you!” She presented her gift in front of him, her arms outstretched.

“No way… How did you get volume 7?” He took the peach rose patterned gift out her hands, and marveled at the package. He ripped the top of the present, peeling back the paper. “They only made 50 of these copies in the world…”

“It wasn't at all easy to find, not cheap either, but I got it nonetheless.” She smiled at his excitement.

“Thank you.” The words came awkwardly out of his mouth.

“Just because we both got what we wanted doesn't mean we can't be friends.” As he tucked the wrapping and the gifts into the crook of his arm, she stuck her hand out, asking for a handshake.

And, for one of the first times in Kyoya’s life,

He was at a loss for words.

He stood there in silence for a while, unsure how to reply to this side of Azra he had never seen before. And there, in the golden morning sun, they stood. Azra looked at him, staring intently at her hand, then looked at her own hand.

She laughed. “Ah, you're so difficult!” She leaned in, picking up his own hand and clasping it with hers. She shook it and looked directly in his eyes, her eyes burning right through the glass of his glasses.

In a sincere and loving tone, she squeezed his hand, a barely noticeable smile upon her rosy lips.

“I look forward to our friendship, Kyoya.”

“Kawashima! We still have things to go over!”

“Ah- Be right there!” She let go of Kyoya's’ hand, speed walking to the members of the football club.

And there, she sprinted away.

In a frozen trance of her charm, Kyoya laughed loudly and ran a free hand through his hair. The sunlight glared off of his glasses, bringing warmth to his face.

“I must be pretty difficult, huh?”

The End.
