*The Present*
ย
"Wow..." Jisung paused. "You remember all of that?" he asked his partner, mouth half-open, in awe. "Of course I do, Love." Minho nuzzled his nose into Jisung's nape, earning a giggle from the other. "Speaking of this, it's been a long time since we visited the fields," Jisung drifted off, lost in thought and memories. Minho noticed the dreamy look on his face, and tilted his head to the other side, thinking about a solution.
"Then why don't we visit it now?" he suggested. "Can we?" Jisung turned to him, eyes flickering excitedly. It's like he had a thousand stars in them sometimes. It got Minho lost for a moment as he just kept staring at him, going over every single detail about him. "Minho?" Jisung waved his hand in front of him in hopes of bringing him back to reality. Minho blinked, shaking his head. "Of course we can," Minho said, a bit delayed, bringing a hand up to his neck while his face heated up. Jisung giggled at Minho's embarrassment. He had been there before uncountable times, so it serves him right. "Come on." He held out his hand, "Let's go," Minho finished Jisung's sentence.
Grabbing their coats from the rack, they got on their way. The icy spring breeze blew past their skin as Jisung clattered his teeth, shivering. Minho looked to his side and shook his head. "Didn't I tell you to put on a scarf?"
Before Jisung could say anything, Minho halted, unwrapping his scarf from his neck. Jisung's heart pulsated as Minho concentrated on tying his scarf around him. Yes, they had been together for three years, yet these small actions still seemed to leave him in a daze. Minho took his chance to peck Jisung's freezing lips and linked their hands together. "You turned all red," he teased, Jisung hitting him as a result. "It's not my fault that you act like a boyfriend out of a K-drama. Must be one of your characteristics." That earned a laugh from Minho, a resounding, harmonious one. "Such a beautiful laugh," Jisung mumbled.
ย
They pushed and brushed through branches and grind roads until finding the hidden opening between the trees. Minho went through it, holding onto Jisung's hand, helping him pass through as well. It had been ages. It's a wonder they still knew where the passage was. The first step on the grass beneath them brought a feeling of nostalgia. Minho turned back around to Jisung, taking Jisung's other hand in his too. "Close your eyes," he instructed. "Why are you being so mysterious?" Jisung rose his eyebrows but complied to the other's words. Minho appeared behind him, judging from the sound located behind Jisung's back. "Trust me," he whispered into his ear, and they took a few tentative steps forward. Tentative for Jisung that is.
Jisung felt the air circulate around them in a breeze the more they walked forward. Why are they going to the center of the field? "Okay, you may open them now." Minho smiled. Jisung fluttered his eyes open, squinting them at first, having to adjust them to the light outside. A gasp left his lips. An immaculate amount of small fairy lights surrounded the space they were in, twinkling like a starry sea of light as Jisung looked around, not knowing what to give attention to first. "Did..Did you do this?" Jisung asked as he turned to Minho, mouth still open.
"Well, I received help from them." Minho motioned to their surroundings, and, as if on cue, people emerged from their hiding spots. "What is this? What are they all doing here?" Jisung stammered, looking at the faces of everyone gathered. Felix, Seungmin, Hyunjin, Chan, his mother, his brother, and even Irene, all of them were here. "Happy three-year anniversary, Love," Minho spoke. Jisung stared, blinking at him, and Minho took advantage of his silence. "Actually, this is not the only reason why I took you here today."
"Minho, what are you doing?" Jisung reached out to him as he crouched down on one knee.
"Han Jisung," he started. He raised his head, looking into his Love's eyes. "When I first met you, I really didn't expect we could ever end up like this. We have been through so much together. And I know that even though we have been together for only a few years, I want it to stay like this for the rest of the years approaching. I want to wake up with you by my side. And I want to take care of you for the rest of our time together."
He halted in his words while Jisung bit his lip, suppressing his tears. "So please, will you allow me to stay by your side for as long as our forever lasts?" Minho revealed the box in his hand, opening it to show two crystal-like rings. "What I mean to say is,"
"Han Jisung, will you marry me?"
Jisung gasped from suppressing himself throughout this, finally letting his tears roll down his cheeks as he showed a smile. This time they were tears of happiness. "Yes, I will allow you to," he hovered, chuckling after his sentence. He watched the silver ring get slid on his finger, Minho holding onto his hand after, standing up again. Jisung reached for the other ring, trembling as he too slid the ring on the other's finger. Minho dropped his head, letting out a short sigh as his cheeks can't help but tug into a blissful smile while feeling a tear stream down his face. He looked back into the other's eyes as he put a hand around Jisung's cheek, both of them closing the distance between each other in a long-awaited kiss, causing an uproar from the people around them.
The cool air brushed over their faces once they parted. "Do you want to stop?" Minho asked, waiting for his answer. "No," Jisung disagreed. "I want to do this again." He locked his lips back with those of Minho, the two grinning between the contact.
ย
"How long has Minho been planning this?" Jisung asked once they arrived at the venue Minho rented for them to celebrate. "You have no idea how terrified and nervous he was all of the time," Chan filled in, laughing. "I'm honestly surprised he even managed to play it off this cool." Hyunjin added, taking a sip of his drink, making the others erupt into laughter.

Minho walked around the shop with multiple displays reflecting the area, different rings displayed in them. So many it seemed almost impossible to pick one set as he continued to examine all of them, walking past different vanities until a certain pair caught his eye and he halted in his pace. "May I see these, please?" he asked the jeweler, pointing at the ones he found. He took the ring from the display, going over its details.
"Do you think he'll like this?" he asked Hyunjin and Chan who had been following close behind him. "It's gorgeous," Chan answered. "And I am sure he likes it like you, too. But no matter what you pick, I think he will care for the one who asks him the most."
"I agree with Chan, Jisung will love them either way because you are the one asking him. He will probably know the effort you put into this. You should get these if you think they are the right ones." Hyunjin spoke, patting his friend's shoulder. Minho looked back to the box, laying open on the vanity glass. He reached for the box, shutting it, holding it in his hand.
ย
"Well, he really put a ring on it," Seungmin commented as he and Felix approached Jisung, earning a huff from Jisung. "Please, you don't ever stop."
"How is Mr. Fiancรฉ doing?" Felix teased, motioning at the ring on Jisung's finger. Jisung lifted his hand, raising a brow. "This speaks for itself, doesn't it?"
Seungmin clutched a hand to his chest, mimicking a hurt expression. "Ouch, flexing your soon-to-be husband, I see."
"Honestly, I thought the two of you would get married earlier," Jisung had to admit. "Oh, I think it would've happened if this trashy boyfriend next to me wasn't such a chicken." Felix stated without a problem, giving the most nonchalant look ever. "Maybe. Eventually," Seungmin responded, earning a light shove from the Australian.
"Hey! No fair! I confessed to you first, now it's your turn to propose."
Seungmin stayed quiet for a moment. "But if I asked, would you want to?"
"You'll have to ask me first, in order to find out." Felix winked as he strut off.
"Gotta go catch up on him." Seungmin motioned to the way Felix left. "Just go already." Jisung pushed him forward. "Hey-" Seungmin yelled at that. "Just wait until we get back." Jisung stuck out his tongue. "I'd like to see you try." The two chuckled after that, Seungmin going to find the other for real this time.
Jisung looked around, his eyes catching a certain person standing in the center of the room. Minho's features melted into a smile as his eyes met those of Jisung, and walked over to him.
He held out his hand. "Want to get out of here?"
Jisung gasped. "And leave our own engagement party on our anniversary too?"
"Hell yes," he then responded, and placed his hand in Minho's, letting him lead wherever he would lead him to. Yes, everyone in here are their friends and family, but it still counts as a crowd.
ย
Minho swung their arms between them in a calming movement, the frigid breeze blowing against parts of exposed skin, sending a familiar chill down their bodies. Jisung raised his head as a spark lit up in his eyes, realizing the other took him when a field appeared in the distance.
"You're bringing me here again?" Jisung asked, brushing his thumb over Minho's interlocked hand. The two set foot on the soil, walking until the ground under them turned an emerald green. "You love this place. And I saw you needed to escape from the crowd for some time."
"I like this place too," Minho admitted, watching the covered field of sleeping flowers as the moonlight provided them light, keeping just a few disobedient flowers awake. "I met you here for the first time after all. In the end, this place brought us together."
"So you did recognize me the first day you saw me again."
Minho set a step forward, bringing JIsung in closer by his waist. He closed his eyes, connecting their heads. "I am so grateful for meeting you, Han Jisung. I don't want to imagine a life without you."
Jisung placed his hand on the sides of the other's face. "I couldn't imagine a life without you either, Lee Minho." He looked up at him, eyes searching for Minho's gaze. Life seemed to pause in this moment, holding just the two of them. After a comfortable silence, what felt like a while now, of just them remaining in each other's embrace, Jisung spoke again. "So,"
"Is it my turn to tell the story now?"

"Where are they?" Seungmin squinted his eyes, drink in one hand, scouring the area. "Probably ran off together," Hyunjin responded, tilting his head toward him with an amused grin. "Can you blame them?" Felix tuned in with a warm chuckle. "Come on, stop teasing them, everyone!" Chan warned, being the only one to defend the engaged couple so far, shaking his head with a silenced laugh. He crossed his arms, watching the exit Minho and Jisung left through, a proud smile covering his lips. "They are cute together."
Hyunjin joined him in stealing a glance toward the exit.
"Absolutely made for each other."
