Goro Akechi's first meeting with the phantom thieves was "Ah! To think you'd have friends in Shujin, Akira."
Both Ann and Ryuji were visibly confused.
"Huh? Oh! You must mean my brother. I am Ren Amamiya." The detective's face contorted into something unreadable to Ren. "My apologies then Amamiya..." Akechi answered.
"Theres no need to apologize Akechi-san. Were identical we get that alot" he said.
"He did mention he had siblings. Well any friend of his is a friend of mine." He smiled. Ren shifted uncomfortably cause however Akechi is acting right now is obviously fake.
"Are you all going to have cake? I missed lunch today so I'm actually quite hungry myself" he stated. "Huh? Cake?" Ryuji questioned
"Oh am I mistaken? I thought I heard someone say delicious pancakes"
That event was how they knew Goro Akechi was lying to them. That he had planned to kill the leader of the phantom theives. So they planned accordingly, which was fake their leader's death with the help of the metaverse.
Both Akira and Akiren were hesitant with the plan. Ofcourse there was always that chance it could fail, they were basically handing Ren to the police for free.
Akira tried to talk Ren into making him the bait instead. Only for him to be turned down. Ren did not want his brother to go through Japan's justice system, he did not want him to endure that harsh interogation.
Not only that he didn't want him to have a record under his name too.
The stakes were high. If Ren fails in convincing Sae, he'd die by the hands of the detective prince.
The phantom thieves would lose their leader, their wildcard.
They would lose their friend
They would lose their brother
Akira, Akiren and Morgana could see how nervous he is leading up to the days of the interogation. They would be lying if they say they themselves weren't scared for it.
So the day came and Ren came back. To think they would drug and torture of teenager. It made them mad, they wanted to go to the interogation room themselves and beat up those guys. Or maybe even find out their names and beat them in mementos.
Either way their brother is back. With the help of Dr. Takemi and Sojiro they were able to nurse him back to health.
He was okay, he was back home safe with them. But that doesn't mean he isn't suffering the aftermath.
It was a few days after he got back with the discovery of Shido. Akiren and Morgana heard her brother muttering to himself while sleeping
"Ren hey wake up! Hey Ren!" The cat tried to shake him awake only to be pushed of the bed.
"That looked like it hurt, you okay Morgana?" She asked in concern for the cat. "Yeah I am..."
"N-no stop... ge-get away!" Her older brother muttered again slowly panicing, his breaths growing more ragged. Morgana jumped up on Ren's bed, trying to shake him awake again.
Meanwhile Akiren turned to Akira waking him up.
"Why are you-"
"Its Renren..." she answered and winced when she heard Morgana fall again. Akira stood up approaching his sleeping brother his sister following suit.
"Ren?" Akira shook him as he tried to push him. "Hey Ren wake up." Akiren said worry lacing her voice.
"Ren hey, please wake up"
"Ren hey"
"N-no I-" he jolted awake sitting up. Morgana took his spot on Ren's lap and started purring.
"Renren, hey its just a bad a dream..." Akira said, rubbing circle on his back. Ren leaned onto Akira and started quietly sobbing.
"Its about the interogation isn't it?" Akiren asked as she sat beside him and wiped his tears, he nodded quietly.
"I was back there again... and I failed convincing Sae..." He answered as the cat on his lap started purring
"We shouldn't have let you get caught. We should've found another way." Morgana said his purring grounding Ren who was slowly calming down. "I should've went in instead..." Akira muttered.
Akiren gasped, clearly dissagreeing. "No! You can see what they did to Ren."
"I am the oldest, I am supposed to protect you both!" He said letting go of Ren.
"That doesn't mean you can go sacrificing yourself like that."
"Are you saying you wouldn't take his place then?"
"Its not like that! I am not insinuating that at all! I never wanted to go with this plan but we didn't have a choice!
"You two! Stop it! Nows not the time to argue!" Morgana intervened. Ren sniffed "I-I wouldn't wish that upon an-anyone." Ren spoke getting eveyones attention.
"I don't want yo-you to get a c-criminal re-record l-like I did... I don't want you to ge-get hurt. Akiren leaned onto Ren. "Th-things were ba-bad enough as it is... the stakes were high. I don't want you two or anyone else to go through that 'interogation'. We were lucky enough the drugs wore off ju-just in ti-time" he was able to say inbetween sobs
"Still, no one deserves to go through something like that." Akira sighed wiping his brother's tears embracing both. The four sat in silence and stayed with one another's presence for awhile
"Hey Akira..." Morgana got his attention as he turned to his siblings who already fallen asleep. He chuckled as Morgana left Ren's lap. Akira quietly set them both into something more comfortable position than sitting upright.
He made himself comfortable beside the two and pulled the blankets over himself. Morgana jumped ontop of the three and watched the oldest Amamiya fall asleep himself beside his siblings.
"Goodnight" he whispered as he curled into a furry ball in slept himself.
The next morning Sojiro went to check on the three only to find them sleeping.
He smiled, cause god knows they needed all the rest they could get.
