Summary
What if Katniss was the one left behind instead of Peeta?
An AU where Plutarch and Coin prioritize extracting Peeta over Katniss, where Peeta struggles to find Katniss before it's too late, and where Peeta must decide if he will destroy Panem before rebuilding it.
___________________________“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I’m sorry Prim, but I promise, I’m going to get her back, no matter what, I’ll get her back. I promise you.”
But why should she trust him? He’d promised to be back before midnight and he hadn’t kept his word. He’d promised to give back the pearl and he’d failed at that too. He watched in silence as Prim crossed the room to him, tears slipping down her cheeks, and she stopped right before him. He tensed up, waiting for the blow he deserved, but Prim put her arms around him and began to sob.

Summary
It was supposed to be fun. It was supposed to be like a short vacation before joining his inevitable eternity. However, Harry Potter made a couple massive miscalculations in this plan. First was trusting that a primordial being actually knew what was going on and was in charge. Second was thinking that his over-developed 'saving people thing' wouldn't kick in and claim an entire messed up vigilante family and, by extension, an entire bloody town in the process. Well, at least he'd been training for this his entire life it seemed. What was a vigilante anyway but Harry Potter in tights? Nope, definitely dropping the tights, that's weird.

Summary
Harry Potter had survived war, propaganda, and being turned into a symbol.
He had no interest in repeating those beats.
Los Angeles offered something different; anonymity, mystery, escape.
As his history crops up again, Harry is reminded that walking away doesn’t protect you and it doesn't stop things from happening.
It just changes where you’re standing when they do.
