“JJ finds his dad, him being the one to get the keys while we stay with him incase things go south. Right?” Kiara finished, and Pope nodded. “That’s about right, Kie.” Pope said.
I can’t help but shiver once being reminded that I have to get the keys. I volunteered, of course, to make sure they don’t get hurt. Just.. My dad is awful. Not predictable, anyhow.
“You good, bro?” Pope puts a hand on my shoulder, and I swallow down the bile rising up my throat like a tidal wave.
“‘Course, dude. Gotcha.” I made a whimsy finger gun, getting out of the car and slamming the car door shut.

In other words, Pope, Kie, and JJ make their way to JJ’s father’s house to get the keys to The Phantom.
Things don’t end as planned when Pope and Kie get hurt by JJ’s father, and JJ has to step up and protect them.
His dad is more dangerous than he looks.
