Something, or rather, someone was behind you. You craned your neck over your shoulder, but didn’t see a face, just a chest. You tilted your head back — further than you expected you needed to — to discover a man behind you, taller than any you had ever seen up close. The black fabric hanging over his face shifted as he cocked his head to examine you like a bird who had discovered a shiny, interesting scrap of metal in the dirt.
