“If Illya really is a doctor,” Napoleon told Gaby as Illya stalked off over the sand, “I’ll eat my shoes.”
Gaby shot him a world-weary look that a woman her age had no business cultivating. “Is that why you’re so rude to him?”

Illya calls time on the physical side of his relationship with Napoleon. Napoleon’s not going to take it lying down. No, sir.
“I said this was last time. The sex.” Illya sat, pulling on his pants as he glanced over his shoulder at Napoleon. “We discussed this last night.”

Summary
Napoleon and Illya have met before. Several times before actually, in a variety of circumstances. It is to be expected that Illya would grow rather fond of the reckless American spy he keeps running into, but he knows better than to get attached. Of course, knowing better isn't actually enough to keep him from getting attached and now working with him? It can't end well.
