The first thing Riz noticed, upon entering his office, was that one of the inner doors was ajar. The door leading to his private office, the door which he had 100% locked when he’d left this morning, hung open, looking, for all the world, like someone had shouldered their way through it. Detective hunch warring with natural paranoia, Riz set his hand lightly on his arquebus, ready to draw at the first – or rather, second – sign of trouble. He crept towards the entryway, and peered around the doorframe.
