Summary
Hawks is given a new mission in order to infiltrate the league of villains but dabi doesn't intend on making it easy, he makes it clear he doesn't trust hawks but under his rough exterior he wants to help hawks in a way that the hero isn't able to do on his own. Meanwhile hawks doesn't realize how far away he has strayed from his main objective and instead him and dabi grow, bond and develop complicated and unwanted feelings. As much as they want to change for each other eventually they have to put their friends,community and goals first.

“Well I can’t keep doing this!” He was back to yelling, he knew Hawks was angry but he didn’t care, he was angry too.
“I can’t keep finding new injuries! I can’t keep panicking and waiting for you to come home! I have no clue if you’re coming home!” If he could cry he’d be sobbing right now. Sadness filled him more than the rage that he was using to try and save face.

Keigo didn’t cry.
The phone on his desk rings once, twice, three times. He thanks every god he can think of for the short break he’s about to get from paperwork. Apparently, the gods were not listening to his thanks.
A gruff voice speaks on the other end, notoriously angry even though the statement was flat and empty.
There’s no warning, no alarm, no way to prepare himself for what he hears. “Touya is dead.”

Summary
The aftermath of Dabi burning away his wings sends Hawks reeling. He's lost the ground beneath his feet and he's clinging to whatever he can - his mentor/mentee relationship with Tokoyami is strengthened, becoming something more like a true friendship, but he can't get over the feeling that he's failed his student. Promising himself vengeance, things quickly become complicated, especially when he suspects that Dabi is in possession of one of his feathers; which may also serve as the key to getting his wings back. A combination of dreams starring Dabi and his own loss of self leaves him standing on unsteady ground, and he looks to Endeavour, his last link with the pro-hero world, to give him anything to do to further the progress with taking down the Liberation.
Of course, just as things start to seem black and white again, Dabi throws a wrench in everything all over again, and Hawks is forced to re-evaluate who he feels he must be, and how that differs from who he actually is.

“Your majesty.” The man in horrifically opulent robes bows low, the ridiculous sleeves pooling on the floor in a puddle of silk. “We have brought you a spoil of war, captured during the battle of Kamino, a rare and exotic creature for your household.” Touya sits up a little in interest, this was rather unusual as far as presents for his father went. The doors open with a heaving groan, and Touya leans forward in open interest. He was expecting a large cage to be wheeled in, containing some fantastical creature like a small wyvern or a kirin. Instead the servants yank on heavy chains, pulling in a young man with massive crimson wings.
“A harpy, your majesty, tamed and trained for battle by the enemy. He was captured in combat, and has spent the last six months undergoing training to become a suitable pet for the royal household. I give him to you, your majesty, to serve whichever role his highness pleases.”
