Summary
Nonfiction Essay: How did Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) influence Code Geass (2006)? This piece looks at how Sunrise leverages a diversity of high-appeal character traits and fanservice to gain the widest possible audience, while avoiding any risky moves that might alienate conservative audiences. But does the quest for popularity risk the artistic integrity of the work? In the decades between the two shows, and the decades since, has there been noteworthy progress?
Written for Geass Fragments: A Code Geass Fanzine.

Summary
C.C. and Lelouch on their journey to find the Geass Fragments. Despite Lelouch's insistence that C.C calls him L.L., despite her having been the one to complain about how his name would get them caught, she continues to call him Lelouch. It is an argument they have had many, many times, and Lelouch is sure C.C. does this purely to annoy him. (Not to mention, what was anyone going to do if they found out the truth? Kill them?)

Last night, Suzaku was revealed—to him, to the Black Knights, to the whole damn world—as the pilot of Britannia’s prestigious Lancelot KMF prototype. Now he stands beside him in a mint-green apron, chopping carrots with that stupid brute strength, completely oblivious.
The universe has a cruel and unusual idea of a joke. Lelouch’s throat is still sore from laughing.
